LD: We would like to draft if by making a trade somehow in the draft. How would you like playing alongside with your borther
MT: I would love to. But Bro Jeff is already your star, i need a team that will be able to build around me being their pg
LD: I understand. Where are your preferred destinations then?
MT: I don't have any preferred destinations yet, still thinking about finishing the season with the wildcats. Any suggestions Coach?
LD: Well, for what you want i say that you should keep your eye out for The Hornets and the lakers. Both need a pg of your caliber
MT: Thanks Coach, well to whoever drafts me, they will get a guaranteed star.

Camp report

Drew said Teague “turned [his ankle] a little bit” and left practice today. “We’re not sure of the severity right now,” Drew said. Teague is questionable to play tomorrow which, under the circumstances, means he’s unlikely to go.
Drew acknowledged that McGrady has appeared passive at times but said he’s not concerned: “I think he is just trying to get acclimated to what we do and the pace at which we play. And then him trying to get his rhythm to what we do. We will keep putting him in situations wehre he is most effective. The one thing I will say about him because he is such a willing passer, he doesn’t force a lot of things. We may at times look at some of the things that he does as not very aggressive but a lot of times he makes the simple play and the open man gets the ball. But he will get his rhythm and get his timing and we will keep putting him in situations where he does that until he gets up to speed.”
Stackhouse got the best defensive grade among the guards in Thursday's game. Stack played in just seven games last season so it’s going to take him time to round into form. “I think neither he nor Tracy have their legs under them yet,” Drew said. “He didn’t play last year, so being off a year you just don’t get your legs back right away, I don’t care how much you have been working out in the summer. It takes going through a real training camp, the bumping and the grinding. I don’t think either guy has their legs under them yet but I can see that it’s coming.”
By all accounts, Stack has been good in the leadership role that the Hawks feel this group really needs. The captains have responded to him. “We need guys that have had that type of experience and come into a locker room with a group of young guys and tell them what it takes to be a real pro,” Drew said. “How to endure a season and for a team that’s talented, the price that you have to pay, the commitment that you have to make.”
Drew said he plans to play the regulars more tomorrow.

The team signed veteran free agent Erick Dampier to a 10-day contract Thursday. He joins Zaza Pachulia as the only healthy centers on the roster after injuries sidelined Al Horford and Jason Collins.

Dampier, who is 6-foot-11, has played in 972 regular-season NBA games. He finished last season with the Heat.

“He’s a legitimate center,” Hawks coach Larry Drew said. “He’s been in the league a long time. He’s a guy who knows how to play the position, particularly defensively.

“You can look at our team and see we need a big body. I’ve said it all along. Hopefully he can come in and help out.”

Horford is out until at least mid-April after suffering a pectoral injury Jan. 11, and Collins will miss at least another week with an elbow injury. The Hawks have been at a size disadvantage while using forwards Ivan Johnson and Josh Smith to back up Pachulia.

The Hawks can sign Dampier to an additional 10-day contract, but would have to sign him for the rest of the season if they want to keep him beyond that.

Dampier, 36, played in 51 games, with 22 starts, for the Heat last season and averaged 2.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 16 minutes. Rebounding has been his strength during his career, especially on offense, but his rebound rate declined drastically last season.

But Dampier was a pretty good post defender for Miami, according to advanced statistics compiled by Synergy Sports Technology. He said he plans to do the same for the Hawks.

“Try to be a presence on the floor on the defensive end, rebounding, blocking shots,” Dampier said. “And whenever I get the opportunity [to score] close to the basket, try to make the most of it.”

Dampier and Drew both said Dampier isn’t in game shape. He was last listed at 265 pounds, but appeared to be significantly heavier while practicing with the Hawks on Thursday.

Dampier played in 51 games, with 22 starts, for the Heat last season. He said he’s been at home in Jackson, Miss., trying to stay ready while waiting for an NBA team to call.

“I’ve been working out, but I wouldn’t say it’s basketball shape,” he said. “It is going to take a couple of days of practice, a couple games to get out there and get up and down the floor and get my legs back under me. I’m looking forward to it. It’s an opportunity for me.”

Dampier is the big body that the Hawks have been lacking even if he’s not in optimal condition.

“He’s not in the best of shape,” Drew said. “Still, his size is a presence in the middle. He has to get acclimated to what we do and get into playing shape. He gives us the ability to keep guys in their natural position.”

Wow! For 12 minutes, that was a low scoring game... You put on a defensive stand there. Good job and good luck in this season, will be following.
