Zach Randolph's Pistons Dynasty

Postby Matt on Mon Apr 12, 2004 1:40 am

Yep, Zach Randolph is the man....even though he's 3rd in scoring, but it's his damn team.....for now

Alright, I hooked up Andrews latest rosters, simmed to the last 10 games of the reg season, played it out and lost. That gave me 15 games to evaluate whom I liked and whom I didn’t. The new season came about and I got to wheelin and deelin. The games I did actually play I conceded a lot of points, 120-130 a game on 10min Q’s. So I decided I need a DEFENSIVE team. When you look at my starting lineup and look at the bench you might question my choices but it’s working good for me this way. As far as I remember I traded Ben Wallace to Memphis for Pau Gasol, and then Gasol to PTB for Zach Randolph. I needed a good post player that can hit the outside shot as well to relieve Wallace of the dbl teams. Benji wasn’t able to his the 15ft shots at all. I traded T Prince and L Hunter for W McCarty + Welsch. I like this guy, good 3’s and good D. Can’t remember my trades but I like the team I ended up with…..wish I could use all 15 of them in the game though.

So here’s the team I ended up with

C R Wallace
F Z Randolph
F W McCarty
G G Lynch
G C Billups

And here’s my bench
C V Divac – picked him up as a FA…..i played 13 games w/o a C so far
F D Milicic- a lot of interest in him from other teams…..i’ll keep him for now
G R Hamilton…..don’t know how to utilize him, not good at D, plays 12mpg and this stat is falling, furiously shopping him around but nobody wants him
G J Welsch- listed as a SF, but plays backup PG for me….good 3pnt shooter, great trade bait
F T Fowlkes- kept him, v good defender
F S Augmon- FA pickup, once again excellent D
F E Williams- as above, but scores most out of my defense orientated guys
G S Smith- got him in a trade with NOH, rarely used, good trade bait
F D Ham- no real use for him
G Eric Piatkowski- good 3 shooter, got him in a trade

Wallace is my main focus on offense, that’s why I wanted so surround him with a guy that can hit the mid range shot (Randolph) and guys that shoot the outside shot (Billups, McCarty, Lynch, Welsh, Piatkowski). Billups is excellent, love to use him….scored 49 in a playoff game. I’m happy with this team but sometimes I get abused by opposing big men cos my guys aren’t strong enough…..i want a big guy that is strong (STR at least 80). I’m thinking of D Diop, he’s rated 99, but they don’t want Hamilton and I don’t wanna give up any of my starters or Welsch

Key stats

Billups 21.6ppg 7apg
Wallace 21.6ppg 12.2rpg 3.2bpg
Randolph 19.5ppg 12.8rpg 1.4bpg

I think only McCarty is the other guy to average 10+ppg.
So far I’m 9-5, playing 11 min Q’s. Maybe I should tank the season so that I can get a good draft pick. I think I’ll have 3 Allstars, that’s gonna look good on my GM Evaluation

Oh yeah, I traded Ben Wallace and he’s MVP candidate…..14ppg 15rpg 4.4bpg….perhaps I should have gotten more than just Randolph????

i wrote that a couple of days ago....so let me update
got rid of Divac...got J Bender for him
traded Hamilton for C Robinson
tradede D Ham for W Williams

i think now my squad is pretty much finalized....i got what i wanted.
1. Go to guys- Wallace, Billups, Randolph
2. Specialty players- Lynch, McCarty, Fowlkes etc
3. Depth....i play 10, 11 guys, sometimes all 12, I have 9 guys get 10+ mins and the rest filling in, + my guys can play multiple positons (Williams 1,2,3 McCarty 3,4,5 Bender 3,4,5 Welsch 1,2,3)

i think i'm 10-6, 3rd in the East and playing some good defense on 11min Q's. Randolph is strugglin ATM but he's rebounding well

Nice dynasty man.

You know you should try playing Bender at the Shooting Guard sometimes, since he is so tall the opoistion guards cant score on him easily :D Plus he gets loads of blocks.

Nice Dynasty...I noticed you don't have any rookies though. Did you forfeit your picks or just package them in trades?

yeah i have no true C or PG. Since i simmed season1 i got the 22nd and 44th picks, got 2 real useless centers so i just cut them....hoping for something better in the upcoming draft

i use McCarty at SG sometimes, post up players with him, i'll try Bender too, thx for the tip

Are there any serviceable centres available in the Free Agent pool? If so, you might want to sign them to a 1 year, Minimum contract, see how they go.

He's not performing up to expectations, I take it?
