Zen's Jazz Dinasty 04-05 Mailman Returns!

Postby Zen on Fri Apr 02, 2004 1:50 pm

First things first, for one thing I completely simulated the 03-04 season since its basically over anyways and i dont want to be thaaat far behind, rather be ahead :P

The Jazz sadly finished with a record of 36-46 as the 12th seed in the west, as the season went by, they had to deal with many injuries, some going up to even 6 weeks, still Kirilenko made the All-Star team (yay) as S.Marion's Bench.

The all-star team starting lineups for 03-04 looked like this:

East

C - Jermaine O'neal
PF - Ben Wallace
SF - Vince Carte
SG - Paul Pierce
PG - Jason Kidd

West

C - Shaq (actually benched yao)
PF - Kevin Garnet
SF - Shawn Marion
SG - Ray Allen
PG - Steve Francis

West won over east 103 - 101 i would give details on this seemingly thrilling game but hey, it was simulated :P

I was surprised not to see Kobe on the starting line up, in fact he did not make the team, while the laker's very own Gary Payton surprisingly found his spot on the bench.

Awards went like this:

MVP - Tim Duncan (weird that he got it when Garnet was at the top of the candidates list)

Most Improved - Z. Randolph (POR)

Sixth Man - Abdur Rahim (POR)

Def. Player of the year - Ben Wallace

Rookie of the year - Lebron James

*Jazz note: Kirilenko found a spot on the All Defense second team.

Playoff time arrives with the Jazz long out of the picture, and the east/west standings were as follow (some big surprises and some letdowns this season)

East

1. Boston
2. New Orleans
3. Detroit
4. Indiana
5. Toronto
6. New York
7. Chicago
8. New Jersey

West

1. Lakers
2. Minnesota
3. Dallas
4. Sacramento
5. Clippers
6. Memphis
7. Denver
8 Seattle

Yes, no san antonio in sight, yet the man gets MVP over Garnet :P

On to eliminations, first on to Round 1for the East:

New Jersey as the 8th seed goes over the 1st seeded Boston 4-1

Indiana goes 4-3 over Toronto

Detroit sweeps the 3rd seeded NY

New Orleans goes 4-3 over Chicago

West Round 1 went as follows:

Lakers 4-1 over Seattle

Clippers 4-2 over Sacramento

Memphis upsets dallas and goes 4-2 over them

Minesotta goes 4-1 over Denver

West Round 2:

Lakers 4-1 over Clippers

Minnesota 4-2 over Memphis

East Round 2:

Indiana 4-3 over the Nets

New Orleans 4-2 over NY

East Conference Finals:

Indiana 4-2 over New Orleans

West Conference Finals:

Lakers swept Minnesota 4-0

NBA FINALS:

Lakers 4-0 over Indiana

Kobe Gets finals MVP

And thats about it for the 03-04 Season, I knew it came off lenghty but hey, its a season recap :P, hope you enjoy this as much as i will playing the next season.

Ill update as i finish the Pre-season and after i play my first game.

04-05 season begins!

Ok, I just had the most amazing off season ever, even though i didnt get to grab any of the free agents on the top of my list, (R. Wallace/Steve Nash) I fell into position 9 for this years draft which led me to believe, i could get a good rookie and maybe watch him develope. My turn to pick arrives, and it turns out NOBODY picked a shooting guard projected as 2nd overall for this draft, the kid has Excellent potential, and no mayor weakness, I have no idea how i was lucky enough for him to fall into my hands, but oh, he did. (his overal is 76 o.o)

Out of my free agents I only resigned Giricek and Jarron Collins, I was going to resign Ostertag and Arroyo as well but Arroyo refused to sign and Ostertag wanted to sign for 5 years or more, there is NO WAY im giving tag a big contract.

And now here comes the good stuff, turns out i am a whole 34 million under the cap which allows me to grab Nick Van Exel, Erick Dampier and KARL MALONE, yep, got his ring and didnt retire, I guess its up to me to get him his scoring title as a Jazz man.

So I am one happy man with big hopes for this upcoming season.

My line up now looks like this.

C - Dampier
PF - Malone
SF - AK47
SG - J. Cross (rookie!)
PG - Nick the quick
6 - Giricek SG
7 - Harpring SF
8 - J. Collins C
9 - Jelani McCoy C (making him a PF)
10 - Raul Lopez PG
11 - Raja Bell SG
12 - Ruffin PF

My next game is up next against Seattle, please post any comments or suggestions you may have.

Game 1 - Seattle - L 107 - 102
Still getting used to running the offense with the new team face, since ive been used to running it through Kirilenko and Giricek in the past, but now Giricek is benched and Kirilenko is not a scoring option.

I trailed 54 - 47 at the half and managed to enter the final quarter only trailing by 2, but Seattle just became an untamable beast in the 4th shooting over 60% from the field and on 4/6 shooting from beyond the arc, it should be enough to say that Ray Allen who got Player of the game honors got 14 of his 30 points in the final quarter.

Jason Cross (R) had an amazing night for me scoring 26 points on his first NBA game ever, even surprised me with a dunk (nothing fancy) but i didnt think he could dunk.

Next game I travel to the windy city to face the also 0-1 bulls, should be interesting as both teams will be looking to get the first win of the season.

Dynasty Fact: I added up all of malone's points prio to the 03-04 season (36,374) and to that i added the 1443 he did with the lakers on my simulated season (wish he had that much in RL :P) and that plus 16 from last game brought me up to 37,833, which is just 554 point short of the scoring title, I will keep tabs on how many points to go for Malone after every game.

Sorry ive had no time to update lately

Game 2 - @Chicago - W 115 - 87

Total blow out for me, i entered this game losing by 5 at the half, but that was the last time i was ever behind this round, Kirilenko had a game high 5 blocks against the bulls, while malone has gotten a double double in both games, getting 19 points and 13 rebs for me this game, draft sleeper sensation jason cross came up big once again with 22 points and 7 assists.
Chicago only had a real threat at scoring with hinrich who was 6/10 from downtown, he finished with a game high 26 points.

Up next i face Sacramento who is 2-2 for the season back at Salt Lake city.

Damn, you had some nice pick ups in the offseason. Its rare that you actually get significant cap room in Live's Dynasty mode..

yep, but you have to remember the jazz went into this season with some cap room available, about 20 million, the only big contract they have right now is gugliottas expiring 11 million contract since they didnt get any luck last off season, but on to more games :P

Game 3 - Sacramento - W 93 - 88

I managed to get an 11-2 run early in the game and i was already thinking i was going to blow Sacramento out of the water, but they refused to go down without a fight making it to the end of the first quarter 25-28 while i was ahead.

Nick Van Exel was amazing scoring 11 of his 21 points in the first quarter, he also ended up with 9 rebounds but only dished out 3 assists while getting POG honors, he was just so hot out there tonight as opposed to Cross (r) who shot for 34% this game while scoring 18 points and under 20 for the first time on his young NBA career.

Malone made himself be felt on the boards grabbing 18 for the team while scoring 13 points.

For the Kings Jackson was their leading scorer with 20 points as i managed to get both Peja and C-Webb into foul trouble early in the game, Peja was a force of nature scoring 18 points in only 22 minutes he played on the whole game (i play 10 min quarters) C-Webb played only 20 mins but i was able to held him to just 9 points.

It was a surprise to me to see Bryon Russel as a part of the kings this season.

The game was a fiercily close battle entirely, i only was able to get them trailing in the 4th quarter, i was up by 10 at a time but they managed to almost get back into the game, but missed a couple key shots.

The Jazz host the 2-1 Pistons next game.

Game 4 - Detroit - L 111 - 89

This game i just couldnt get anything going offensively untill it was too late, i was at a point losing by more than 20 points, and i just couldnt get anything going, on horrible shooting, i was under 40% at a point, but managed to end with a 43% fg and detroit did 53%. The POG was billups with 15 points and 12 assists, while their leading scorer was hamilton with 16 points, but they had 6 people over 10 points, I managed to hold rasheed to only 10 points on 4/12 shooting and ben wallace out for the game due to an early injury, but that didnt seem to help much.

On my side Van exel was the go to man scoring 21 points while dishing 4 assists, a lil lower than i hoped, but nobody else seemed eager to do the scoring, Kirilenko which is not one of my scoring options right now ended with 15 points and an amazing effort on the defensive end with a season high 6 blocks.

Cross was a dissapointment not living up to his early games scoring 13 points on 29% shooting, Malone chipped in 14 points, but fell short of his 13.8 reb average grabbing only 5 rebs for the team and ending his double double streak tonight.

The Jazz will look to rebound as they host the now 1-5 Orlando Magic up next.

Hey I like your dynasty. You should get Malone to score more and get him a scoring title which you promised at the beginning of season

me to get him his scoring title as a Jazz man

Dont worry the scoring title will come, the red note at the end of games with xxx points to go is how many more he needs to get the scoring title, i am keeping close tabs on this after every game, so it will come ;)

Keep the comments and suggestions coming guys, feedback is always a good thing to have :P

Malone's overall dropped big time from last season from a 72 to a 58, he is doing quite good :P

I am sorry to say, the save data got corrupted :( and i SERIOUSLY doubt i would be able to recreate this offseason even the slightest bit, so i guess its so long to this idea :(

I will be starting an Orlando Magic franchise soon, prove that maybe they arent so bad after all if you guys would be interested in that.
