Episode 1: Getting “Heat” in Here

Image VSImage

Earlier Today:
“With all the hype surrounding the recent pairing of Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh going into the season, fans have thrown in criticism, excitement and of course Championship predictions.” said Rick Kamla. “Well the Heat will go up against the Wolves next on NBA tv.The last exhibition game of the Timberwolves. This is Steve Smith along with my partner Rick Kamla bidding everybody a good night.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“It’s Friday night, and the Timberwolves host the Heat in this exhibition matchup. Good evening basketball fans, this is Clark Kellog along with my partner Kevin Harlan to bring you the best in NBA basketball.”. The Target Center is packed for this game, having an estimated attendance of 18,600 people, for an exhibition game!"Well Clark, the fans certainly went out to watch this game tonight as the arena is full, which is a bit surprising because this is only an exhibition game!” Kevin Harlan exclaimed.”Well, they are playing for the first time, the Miami Heat where the eyes of the world are focused right now and most certainly, theirs too, so its no surprise the fans went out to see James, Wade and Bosh play together against their Timberwolves.”as Clark Kellog answered back.”Well now, here’s Doris Burke on some news about Johhny Flynn, Doris?”. “Good evening guys, we have recently received reports that Johnny Flynn will not be able to play tonight because of vomitting earlier this morning, we will try to gather more information about this.” As Doris faded in the background.” Thanks Doris. And now we are set for basketball action as the Heat, take on the Timberwolves! The referee was getting ready for jump ball, while James went to his usual powder routine. The fans went roaring “Beat the Heat!!” when James threw the powder in the air and left with a grin on his face. The referee tossed the ball in the air as Love and Anthony battled for possesion.

The first quarter was underway, as Love won the tip and came up with the possesion for Minnesota, but it wasn’t long before the Miami duo of James and Wade went to work. The Heat went on an impressive defensive and offensive run. They held the Wolves to 39% shooting in the first half along with 11 turnovers and outscoring the Wolves 72-37. James scored 25 points along with 8 boards and a few assists.

The Wolves attempted a comeback in the second half but was quickly doused by the solid play of the Heat bench. The Wolves had a better half at scoring but failed to stop the other team from scoring. Kevin Love led the Wolves with 17 points and 12 boards., along with solid plays from Lazar Hayward, Wesley Johnson and Micheal Beasley.

“We all had a good second half, better than the first at least. But it was just hard stopping their offense, hopefully when the season starts next week we will be better.” Kevin Love said after the game. “We played really great tonight. The whole game, even our bench guys did it for us. That’s what we need to get that championship, play this way everyday.” Said the Player of the Game LeBron James. James finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. (He sat down for most of the second half). “The Wolves lose to the Heat 121-81. “Next game is against The Sacramento Kings and their explosive guard Tyreke Evans on October 27, here at the Target Center”. Kevin Harlan said excitingly. And in behalf of my partner Clark Kellog and our third member Doris Burke. This is Kevin Harlan saying good night from the Target Center and see you at opening night.”
FINAL SCORE: 121-81

Episode 2: King of the Pack

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Good evening once again ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the opening night of the 2010-2011 NBA season!! Kevin Harlan here alongside Clark Kellog as we get set for tonight’s action. It’s going to be the Minnesota Timberwolves versus The Sacramento Kings here in the Target Center in Minneapolis.” Kevin Harlan said. “Tonight’s match up will be huge. I mean it’s a battle of Point Guards from last year’s draft, though I think that Tyreke Evans is more of a two guard. Johnny Flynn versus Tyreke Evans seems like a juicy sweet match up, hahaha, isn’t it Kevin?” “It most certainly will be Clark, but first let’s see if Flynn will be able to play tonight. Here is Doris Burke delivering to you the latest news from courtside, Doris?” as Kevin went off air.

“Guys, the Timberwolves have reported that their trainers have cleared Johnny Flynn to play in tonight’s game. He was out on their last exhibition game due to a stomach virus that caused him to vomit. He is now ready to play and on the starting lineup. Back to you guys.” “Well isn’t this good news Clark? We truly will be able to see that match up tonight.” Kevin said. “That’s right Kevin and I’m excited.” Replied Clark. “Well then, let’s get this party started. Let’s go courtside for the player introductions.”

“LADIES and GENTLEMEN!!!!! STAND UP, GET ON YOUR FEET AND MAKE SOME NOISE FOR YOU MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES!!!!!” as the PA announcer shouted and kept everybody excited. “Starting at guard, from the University of Florida, standing at 6’9” COREEEEEY BREWER!” The arena was starting to become louder and louder , when the PA announcer proceeded with the introductions. “At forward, the number four pick of the 2010 NBA draft. Standing at 6’7” from Syracuse, WESLEY JOJOJOHNSON!!” “And at the other forward, the 2nd pick of the 2008 NBA draft, standing at 6’9’’. From Kansas State. MICHAEEEEEEL BEASLEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!” the players proceeded to center court and are waiting for the rest of the starting unit to be called. “And now, starting at center, He helped the 2010 USA basketball team win a gold medal in the FIBA championships and is the number 5 pick in the 2008 NBA draft. Standing at 6’10”, from UCLA. KEKEKEVIN LOOOOVE!!! And by this time the arena has reached the loudest its been all night. “Starting at the other guard! The sixth pick in the 2009 NBA draft, standing at 5’11” from Syracuse! JOHNYYYYYYYYY FLYYYYYYYYYNNN!!!” The crowd had gone wild, anxious to see Flynn play again and redeem himself after losing out to Evans, Jennings and Curry in the ROY race last year. The players are now getting ready for tip off and kick start the NBA season.

Johnny Flynn went to work right away

The Wolves started out rusty as they were never able to find the their ryhthm in the first quarter. They shot the ball at 42% while the Kings shot at 55%.The Kings’ offense were fluid, recording 15 assists in the first quarter alone and jumped to a 32-18 lead going into the second quarter. But Johnny Flynn would answer the call in the second quarter despite foul trouble. He and Michael Beasley helped the Wolves claw their way back and cut the lead to 9 entering halftime despite trailing the most by 20 points. Flynn finished the half recording 15 points 6 assists but had 5 turnovers. The Kings’ Evans led their team scoring 13 points along with 3 assists. “We just need to keep our composure and slowly start clawing our way back man, I know we can do this.” Flynn said during the halftime interview.

Monster block by Webster in the first quarter

By the end of the third quarter, The Wolves have tied the score to 82-82 and has got the looks of a classic. Two young guards battle it out keeping their respective teams alive. Flynn and Beasley helped the Wolves take the lead, but Flynn fouled out with 5:08 remaining in the fourth quarter, and the Kings leading 94-93. Evans decided to take over the game but ran into a monster block by Martell Webster. Michael Beasley instead, took over hitting clutch baskets. The Kings had one final chance to win with 15 seconds left and the Wolves leading 105-104, but the shot by Evans rimmed off leading to a Wolves win on opening night. “Even though I wasn’t able to help my team late in the fourth quarter, I was glad they came through, especially Michael (Beasley). Coach had always preached to us about keeping our composure, especially at tough times and it paid off tonight.” Johnny Flynn said after the game. He finished with 27 points and a career high 12 assists. Beasley also finished the game strong tallying in 23 points along with 12 rebounds. “And that’s it ladies and gentlemen, we had a great thriller tonight but the Wolves were able to come back and get the win. Until next time, this is Kevin Harlan and in behalf of my partner Clark Kellog and Doris Burke, I wish you all a good night, here from downtown Minneapolis.
