Houston... We don't have a problem [1-1]

Even though this is my first post here, I've been around these forums for a while and have thought about doing an association story for quite a while (having done a similar thing in another sporting game).

The story will be based around myself as a player (rated high 80's shooting guard) for the houston rockets, after the rockets decided to rebuild and traded yao, k-mart and jordan hill to the Washington Wizards for myself (3rd ovr. pick in 2010 draft) , greg monroe (10th ovr. pick in 2010 draft) and josh howard.

The current lineup and roster is as follows

PG:Aaron Brooks
SG:Myself
SF:Josh Howard
PF:Lamar Odom
C: Matt Webb (1st ovr. pick in 2010 draft by Pheonix. Rated 89)

Role Players/Subs:
Shaun Livingston (PG)
Jermain Taylor (SG)
Dominique Jones (SG)
Shane Battier (SF)
Kyle Korver (SF)
Greg Monroe (PF)
Ed Davis (PF)
David Andersen (C)

2010/11 Season, using a modified KOVA roster. The story will begin one day before game one of the season.

Tuesday, October 25 2010.

In just over 24 hours my dream become a reality, I will become an NBA player, I will play my first official game. I walk out of the dressing room in my new rockets warm up gear contemplating what it will be like once the ball is released into the air for the first time by the referee. Not only will I be playing my first game but I had been dubbed the greatest number 3 pick since Jordan and the player to lead the Rockets into a new era.

*clunk* I rebound the ball after my 10th straight miss and I start to get a bit frustrated
"A little nervous I see"
I turn around and see Lamar Odom standing in the middle of the court.
"Maybe"
I reply nervously (Lamar had only been traded 2 days and I had yet to met him.. until now)
"You'll be fine, you made it through college didn't you?"
Lamar walks over and I pass him the ball
"Yea... just, if wasn't for a bit of luck I wouldn't be he-"
Lamar laughs
"You led your team into the final four, hit the game winning shot in the championship game and you were pick 3 in the draft how is that luck!?"
It takes me a minute to ponder how stupid my answer had been
"Yea, spose it wasn't so lucky"
We both walk over and sit down on the bench
"So whats on your mind then? I haven't seen anyone throw bricks like that in a long time."
I look down and explain
"Well... Just all the pressure you know? Houston traded alot to bring me here, the fans and the journo's are all tipping me to lead this team into a new era and comparing me to Jordan despite not even playing a game. How am I supposed to take that?"
Lamar thinks for a moment
"Just play, enjoy yourself. The more you think about those things the more the pressure will get to you and the worse you will play. Just go out, give it everything you have and enjoy yourself it's all you can do."
Lamar and I get off the bench and walk towards the dressing room. As we walk towards the rim I take one final shot *swish*
"..I feel better already"

This looks pretty good! I suggest making the appearance a little better, adding pics, changing color, etc. Also, tell us what game you are playing and ratings are always helpful.

Wednesday, October 27 2010.

The final buzzer sounds and as all the reporters and media hustle over towards Lebron James and Dwayne Wade, we walk towards the dressing room disappointed at a win that slipped away against , many regard as the best team in the NBA. There was little chatter from neither coaching staff or players in the dressing room, after about 10 minutes a reporter comes in to ask a few questions and after asking Lamar a couple questions he works his way over to me.

Louis, after a tough start you finally found your rythm in the final quarter. How do you feel your debut in the NBA went?
"Umm well obviously the team comes first and even though we were close for the first 3 and a half quarters, we fell away at the end which was disappointing. Neither I or anyone could get into any rhythm out on the court tonight and in the first half I just could nail any open J's but in the 4th I got onto a little run but unfortunately I couldn't help us over the line. In the end though we had our chances but at crucial times we missed shots that would put us ahead or to tie the game."

Despite having 3 of your starters including yourself making their debuts tonight and keeping with up with the team tipped to win this years championship for 40 minutes, if you make the finals, how deep do you think your team can go?
"I believe we have one of the best teams in the NBA, even though we are rather inexperienced this team has great potential, I think we are a conference finals team. With Lamar and Josh giving us experience and all us young guys giving energy and alot of passion I think we have a strong team despite tonights loss."

During the 2nd quarter instead of playing at shooting guard coach put you at the point. How comfortable were you playing at the point?
"I felt good, if anything I felt better playing at the point as I had the ball, I could dictate the pass and I had a miss match over Chalmers. But preferably Aaron would be at the point and myself at SG, but as Aaron wasn't 100% I had to give him a rest for a bit.

We were unaware he was injured when and what type of injury does he have?
"He rolled his Ankle while in the dressing room, he should be back to 100% for the Lakers game on saturday"

Speaking of the Lakers, how do you think you will matchup against the defending champions?
"I think we match up alot better against the lakers than we do against the heat and if we maintain the defence pressure we had tonight we could even surprise some people.

Thanks Louis, thanks for your time
"..yea"

After a short debrief from the coaching staff and a shower, I finally make make my way to the car to drive back home, I sign some autographs for a few fans who waited outside the car park and leave. Instead of heading straight home I decide to make a stop off at a local bar and talk to some of the few friends I have made since I arrived in Houston a month ago, after not long a recap of the game and short highlight package of myself and the other debutants play on the TV.

phpBB [video]

Final Score: Miami 81 - 68 Houston
Player of the game: LeBron James 24 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists

After watching through the highlights I decide to head home finally but not after my friends tried convincing otherwise.
"You suuuure you don't want to stay? that redhead has been giving you the look all night."
I check the time on my phone and smile
"As much as I would love too, I have to work on my game"
I say my goodbyes and head home... but not before I give that redhead my number.

After the Heat game it was all about how you guys would get it together offensively, tonight, it's about how can you be stopped offensively. What was said and worked on between the Heat game and tonight?
"Well all we did really was work on hitting our shots. Against Miami we just couldn't buy a bucket, we missed lots of good, open looks. Tonight was near perfection, at times it felt like we couldn't miss."
After beating the defending world champions and outshooting Kobe 1-on-1 and recording your first double-double with 43 points and 10 assists. How much confidence does the give you personally and for the team for the rest of the season?
"A lot, it gives us a lot of confidence. We know we have a good group of guys here and to come out and give the "Big-3" a run on Wednesday and to beat the defending champs has certainly given us a big lift. But we can't get complacent and think things will just happen we have to work hard day-in day-out. As for the double-double and outscoring Kobe, I was just doing my bit and when someone had to stand up I personally felt responsible for leading the team but it wasn't just me out there. Aaron was fantastic, Kyle was unconcious from outside and Webby stood up when needed. It was a great team effort."
After posterizing over Ron Artest, you too had a few heated words. What words were exchanged?
"For all the kids under 18 I probably can't say on air. But lets just say that they were fighting words, between two fierce competitors"
Moving on to tomorrows game. Where do you think you guys think you guys can improve? and what will be the key to the game?
"Despite being +8 in rebounds tonight I still feel we aren't strong enough. I know Matt and Greg have been working hard at it and they will be key tomorrow. Another thing we have to be weary of is the fast break and up tempo style of golden state and I think containing Steph Curry's passing and also his shooting will be key.

After getting their soundbytes the reports move away and I can finally get to the team bus. After playing my heart out I just wanted to get to the bus and get some sleep before tomorrows game, unfortunatly for me and to the amusement of the team and of the few fans waiting outside for autographs, the team had taken my clothes and my kit bag and I was forced to go out to the autograph area to retrieve them! After 15 minutes of wolf whistles and cheering, a female fan presented me with my bag but she would not hand it over until I gave her a "reward" for it.

Me: "Finally! where was it?"
I run over as fast as I can without the towel coming off.
Female Fan: "Oh my god this is yours! Umm I found it across footpath just over there"
She points to where she found before giving me a cheeky look.
Me: "Could I please have it back, I sort of need my clothes if you can't tell"
I say rather embarrassed.
Female Fan: "Hmmm.. only if you give me a kiss and an autographed jersey"
She says with a wink.
Me: "As long as I get my ba-"
She cuts me off.
Female Fan: "..Aaand also your number"
I stand there for a moment pondering how life was before I made the NBA, thinking when girls would barely come over and say hi in College to now when they practically follow me everywhere.
Me: "..Hmmm ok, ok.
I lean over and give her a kiss, hand over my number and I autograph a training jersey, she also wrote something inside my bag but I was too tired to read it now and decided to head back to the dressing room to get dressed. While in the dressing room, I did my best to try to find out who took my bag but despite having my suspisions on Greg Munroe I couldn't accurately figure out who before we made it onto the bus. Just about as soon as I sat down, I was asleep replaying tonights game in my head...

I really like using K-mart as he is a weapon whenever I use him, so I didn't want to let him go but I had to otherwise the trade wouldnt work
