Well, I'm going to give a dynasty story a try this year. Believe it or not, six years ago the whole reason I got an account here was to post a one of these about my Pistons team, so maybe I'll be able to get that spark back. Hopefully I'll be able to update it pretty regularly, but with class I can't guarantee anything. I want do it from a local beat-writer perspective and I've actually maxed out the full potential of Paint.net for some mediocre graphics, so it wont be all words :D .

Anyways, hope I get some interested readers-- I think the Griz are an interesting team, so let's see what I can do with them this season!

Roster
Starters
ImageImageImageImageImage

Mike Conley: It took at little bit, but Mike Conley has began to round into a very solid NBA player. The guy they call "Squirrel" has the speed and quickness to be a match-up problem for opposing guards. Chances Mike Conley averages 8 assists per game? 55%.

OJ Mayo: He may have been up to some iffy-business in his days at USC, but the only business Mayo has brought to the NBA is putting up points in bunches. The second-year guard will be looked upon to be option 1A in 2010. Over/Under .455 FG% for Mayo in 2010? Under.

Rudy Gay: The teams top scorer, Gay has been a seive on the defensive end in his short NBA career and that must improve in 2010. The former UCONN star will be relied upon to lock-down the opposing team's top scorer. Over/Under on harmless Gay jokes featured in franchise? 10.

Zach Randolph: Z-Bo has been more of a Z-Blowup on team's chemistry throughout his up-and-down NBA career. He's a guaranteed double-double, but he is also a garunteed headcase. His play will define 2010. Odds of another Louis Amundson/Zach Randolph kiss? 69-to-1.

Marc Gasol: Pau's little brother has been a surprise for the Griz and will be looked upon for a bigger role in 2010. Sure, he may look like a tubby version of Pau, but you'll be surprised with the slimmed down Gasol. Chances Gasol averages a double-double? 79%.

Bench
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

PF- Darrell Arthur
PG- Jamaal Tinsley
SG- Sam Young (R)
C- Hasheem Thabeet (R)
SF- DeMarre Carroll (R)
PG- Marcus Williams
SG- Lester Hudson (R)

The bench will be huge for the Grizzlies in 2010. Whether it's inexperience, being a team cancer, being bad, or even being fat, all are represented on the Griz bench and are all reasons to raise questions about this team. Four rookies getting solid playing time is never a recipe for success and who knows what Jamaal Tinsley has to offer? After being paid not to play for the last 1.5 years in Indiana, you have to why that was. Over/Under 10 games where the Grizzlies win bench points this season? Under.

Injured Reserve
ImageImage

C- Steven Hunter
PF- Hamed Haddadi

Coaching Staff

Lionel Hollins

In his third go-around with the Grizzlies, Lionel Hollins has some pieces to work with. Despite the bench, the Grizzlies young core of starters could be enough to propel them into the playoffs as an eight-seed, something Grizzlies fans will welcome with open arms. How Hollins handles one of the NBA's youngest teams will go a long way towards how this season goes. Chances Lionel Hollins wins the NBA's Coach of the Year award? 15%.

Their lack of defense is taking some getting used to, but they're really fun to play with on the other end. Thanks!

Yeah, due to this shitty Paint.net program I have to try to keep it interesting in other ways  . Thanks!

Martti. wrote:Lots of talent. Hope you can reach the Playoffs. (Y)

That's the plan going in. At this point, a 8th seed would be a great success. Thanks!

Thierry. wrote:Hope you give some mins to Hudson. (Y)

I'd like to. He was a great college player (he had a quadruple-double in college! ). He also has no D... so we'll see. Thanks!

Haha, it was massive when I previewed it, but it's perfect sized now. Thanks!

Wow, a very low-scoring game. You should play at least 9 IMO, that's what I do.

Weird that 14 points is a game-high.

Maybe if you play another couple of minutes?

Re: Run with the Bear (1-0) Griz v. Wiz

Low scoring I know! For years I played 7 minute quarters and ended up scoring 90-100 points a game, but in 2k10 i've broken 100 maybe two times. I'm planning on speeding up the game speed to 60 then playing 9 minutes for the next game. Both teams did shoot bad though, so we'll see if I can top 100 this game

Still the recaps look great. But as the others said, would be cool if you could get the scoring a bit up. Neat layout, good win. I played with the Grizzlies yesterday ("NBA today") and I really like them. Randolph and Gasol get so many boards. I could not hit a shot with Mayo though ...

Nice recapping dude. I think you need to increase your Q length though...

NEXT POST: Game versus Dallas Mavericks
P.S. I'm going to start simming after this first part of the season, I have games versus Dal, OKC, and LAL, which are all badass, so I'll prolly play 5 sim 5 or something.

Good job, very balanced scoring. You definitely played great D as well. The Gasol pic looks very real (Y)

Yeah, i've tried to keep everyone happy and it has worked really well so far. I like that pic too (it also fit there perfectly size-wise lol)

Thierry. wrote:Hudson: 9 points in 9 mins (Y) Great win!

He's a quick dude, but he can't dribble well which really hinders my ability to do anything with him other then spot-up from deep.

Mark. wrote:Nice recapping dude. I think you need to increase your Q length though...

Thanks man, yeah I bumped it up to 9 and i've gotten some more realistic results so i'm happy with that.

2-game update tonight!

I see inconsistent performances... like Gay, first 16 then 7, or Mayo, first 8 then 17 :P
