I want to start a Association story, I've been reading here forever and think I could make a good/interesting one. Plus I have way too much time on my hands.
Anyway, I was thinking of creating a team, choosing a group of players that I think would form a solid team, and creating players based on their stats...
So say I want Derrick Rose, I create a player who is basically somewhat a clone of him..
This way each team gets to keep their stars but I still can form the team I want.
Is that a good or bad idea for an Association story? I like doing fantasy drafts but thought it'd be too complicated for readers to keep up, and I like playing real teams.
Also thinking of just picking a regular team and just making roster changes where I see fit, but the created team could be something different.
What do you guys think is the better thing to do?

I think the way you'd have to make that work would be to make people interested in the players you're using. If you just create a bunch of guys with the same ratings as Rose etc but give them no back-story or whatever then it won't be quite as interesting.
There's so many regular team stories around that you kinda have to be a bit creative to stand, Lamrock's idea about doing a Celtics association as if the team had not traded for KG/Allen and picked Durant/kept Jefferson instead for example, that sort of thing is interesting.

Yeah that was part of the idea, give a story on each player and have an actual story involved and not just a 'story' with games.
