In a office building somewhere...
Mike Harriton stretched in front of his mahogany table. As team of financial advisors putting together the finishing touches to the deal that will see Mike taking control of NBA franchise, Memphis Grizzlies. Mike switched on his plasma TV, just in time to see Mike Miller hitting a game winner, sending the entire arena in a frenzy. "This is it" Mike thought, beginning to envision his own basketball team, one who can win the NBA championship. To do so, Mike had only one guy in mind: Coach Sky
Sat Aug 22, 2009 10:22 am
Somewhere in Japan...A 40 year old man dragged himself out of bed, groping in the darkness to search for the ringing phone. "Who the hell calls at 4 am in the morning." cursed the man.
"Hey! Mike here, hows it going there?" The man backed away from the phone, the loud voice hurting his ear. The man in the phone went on rambling. It took a while before the man could understand what he was talking about.
"So Sky, interested in taking charge of an NBA franchise?" Mike said
"Why in the world do you need to call me at 4 am in the morning?" screamed Sky
"Opps, i forgot about the time difference, i was too excited. So are you interested. I have recently bought Memphis Grizzlies. Its a good team!"
"So thats your new play-thing huh?" replied Sky
"Haha...I guess so. So do you want in or not? I need a new head coach."
"I'm interested but theres a young player im mentoring here in Japan. That kid got a bright future, don't wish to abandon him." Sky pondered. It isnt everyday that you get the opportunity to take control of an NBA franchise but he have his own responbilities
" Has that kid played in any league or high level tournament before? If not i think there is a way around the NBA rule about new players, he could join our team if he likes. I have to warn you though, dont think i will show any favourism, if hes crap he is out!" Mike added.
" I will discuss it with him, though i will have to thank you for this opportunity." Sky glad that both his wish can be fufilled at the same time.
" Look, i have another reason for you to look forward to coaching this team...Turn on the TV, we just released the news."
Sky took the remote and turned to NBA news channel
NBA News: Breaking news! Bosh and Gasol trade!

Following Mike Harrington's takeover at Memphis Grizzlies, they moved fast to secure Bosh from Toranto Raptors, trading fan favourite Pau Gasol the other way. Mike, the new GM of the Grizzlies has this to say
" With Bosh, we can play better from open play and Bosh is an athletic player, he would improve our team tremedously."
The trade was seen as fair by neutrals. Toranto gained a go to man with lots of experience while Grizzlies gain a young and rising forward.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Are you kidding me! Im in!" Sky shouted.
Mike allowed a small grin on his face. He knew Bosh was a favourite player of Sky and now he gain two key pieces to his championship.

]Training Camp 07[/b]
Memphis, Tennessee - Fedex Forum"Woah...Nice arena" whistled Bosh as he steps into the Fedex Forum. The new addition to the Grizzlies made his way onto the court. The entire Grizzlies team was gathered for the first time to attend the Training Camp.
"I heard there was a new coach..." Mike Miller asked, hoping someone know who he was.
"No idea man... Sounds like someone new to the scene." remarked Gay
"Hey! Who's that kid?" Darko Miličić nudged Damon, causing everyone in the team to look in the direction he pointed. THere sat a someone who have his earphones on and dozing off.
"He looks like a baller...Is he a new signing?" Swift suggested.
"Never seen him before though so he cant have played in the US before and he doesnt look American." Damon pointed out.
"Guys the boss is here..." Bosh ushered everyone down to where the new guy was sitting.
"Good everyone's here." Mike Harrington surveyed the scene. They definitely need some work but definitely able to achieve big things together. "Here's your new coach, Sky. He has lots of experience in coaching new and uprising players. One example is Z.Hiro sitting there." Mike said gestering to the foreign player. "He's our new addition to our team and is a swingman." Z.Hiro smiled as everyone took in his 6'6 body, seemingly scrutinizing his every detail.
"Now as your head coach i just want to say im very honoured to have this job working with talented players like you guys. But let me warn you, my methods can be a little extreme. I want everyone to know that winning a championship requires teamwork, discipline and not talent. Now for a little warmup. 100 sucides lets go."
1 hour later..."He is crazy, what the hell!" Bosh cursed under his breath. Normally he was one with the most endurance but this training programm is crazy. They had been doing physical training for the past hour and everyone was on their knees.
"Come on, its not over yet..." Sky smiled sinisterly "6 on 5 game full court. I want you guys to score at least 25 points in 10 mins and the defence will have to shift around and prevent that. Gay, Hiro, Swift, Damon and Warrick on Team A. The rest to B. Loser will have to stay back and clean the gym."
Everyone groaned and got to the game. The game was tight, but Team B taking advantage of their numbers, quickly crushed Team A 25-15 withn 8 mins. Rudy Gay suprised everyone with his accurate three point shooting, hitting 3 of 3. "I practised" joked Gay. New addition Z.Hiro also shown everyone his defence qualities and playmaking abilities.
"So what do you think?" Mike asked Sky.
"Not bad, need some work on their statmina and defensively though. We might need an extra big man with experience just in case."
"Hiro is not bad, he would give Miller and Gay a run for his money. He should play as a point guard."Mike pointed out
"Maybe in the latter part of his career, now hes not experienced enough to be playing at 1." Sky explained.
Mike grinned, his team was coming together.

NBA Game Recap
Grizzlies Stuns Duncan and Co.
What a night it was for Bosh and his Memphis Grizzlies. They came into the game as dark horses against the San Antonio Spurs, with betting odds standing at 3-7 against them. Memphis Grizzlies had earlier in the season swaped owners and head coach, with Mike Harrington bringing in Coach Sky, a relative unknown to coach the team. Many were expecting them to finish as a lottery team but if they keep up their performance tonight, they could be well be fighting for the playoff spots. The first quarter was a tight affair, both teams tying at 26 points each. Tim Duncan and Bosh led the way with 12 points each. The turning point came in the second quarter, Memphis Grizzlies with an outstanding defensive display, went on a 17-0 run, forcing Spurs to miss 8 consecutive shots. The score at the end of the second quarter read 54-40 in Grizzlies favour. Spurs led by Duncan tried to close the lead in the third quarter but as soon as they cut the lead to 4, Memphis rookie Z.Hiro came off the bench and led the way in an 12-4 run, dishing out 5 assists. The 4th quarter saw another comeback from the Spurs but it was too little too late with Tony Parker fouled out with 2 mins to go. The Grizllies also shown their accuracy from beyond the line, hitting 45% of the shots attempted
"The kid was crazy." Commented Parker after he commited three consective fouls on Z.Hiro, forcing him out of the game. "He is so fast and able to pick a pass from nowhere." Memphis Grizzlies 98 - 70 Indiana Pacers
NBA Game Recap
Memphis Grizzlies continued their fine defensive display in their second match of the season, winning the Indiana Pacers with ease, charging to a 70-98 victory. Analysts pinpointed the reason for this big win: Jermaine O'Neal. O'Neal collected 3 fouls just 3 mins into play, forcing Pacer's coach to sit him down for the first half. Without their center, the Pacers were out muscled on the boards as the Grizzlies dominated the boards. O'Neal went on to score 36 points, despite playing only 20 mins. One cant help but wonder if the scoreline would be different had he remained on the court during the first half.On the other hand, the Grizzlies must also be credited with their hardwork and teamwork as everyone seemed to run their legs off in the game. The bench players managed to get some minutes in the last quarter as the 25 point gap proved to be too big to overcome. The bench managed to put in 37 points. Grizzlies fans were pleased with their team's display of althetism and defensive intensity.
"It was a joy to watch our team play, we move the ball up the court so quickly. During the second quarter when the Pacers were trying to slow the game, we continued to hustle them and force turnovers..."Commented an annoymous fan.
Chris Bosh was named the player of the game after collecting a double double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Z.Hiro, the rookie who dazzled in the first game also continued his fine performance with 10 points and 10 assists.

NBA News
Memphis Grizzlies announced two new free agent signings, Center Dikembe Mutombo and small forward Eric Williams. "Im very happy to have these two on board, they bring immense experience and skill to our team. This adds another dimension to how we play and with them on board, we will have people who can lead and calm down the younger players on the field." Coach Sky said, after being appointed GM this morning. Both veterans signed one year contracts.
"Im happy to be on this team, they got a young and talented core who got a great future so im glad i can be able to pass on my experience and my skills." commented Eric.
In other news, Memphis traded center S.Swift for R.Bell of Phoenix Suns. The move suprised many people as with the addition of the 31 year old guard, Memphis is loaded at the 1 and 2 spot, leaving them with little big men to rotate with. The Suns benifited from the trade as they needed a decent backup to Amare. Many critics pointed out the Memphis didnt benefit from this trade at all.
"Im glad to have R.Bell, he is defensively sound and adds bite to our defense. Our perimeter defense isnt that great and hopefully Bell can help us." Sky commented

Guys, what do you think of the trades and signings? I need some advice on how to improve my team. Bosh is the only one with 80+ overall on my team...Any fair trades that could improve my team?

Any fair trades that could improve my team?
there are plenty of trades you could make just for the hell of it but it kind of depends on what direction you want to take with your team. Bosh seems to be your franchise and you've already got a decent complement of players around him (Bell's a good addition). You could try pairing up CB4 with a higher tier all-star but it'll cost you some depth

Hmm...I got Lory and Cardinal whom i can trade away, miller doesnt really fit my team as i like to play an up-tempo defense but hes my only shooter on the team so i think i might trade for a athletic defensive SG...Any suggestions?

Mike Miller doesn't fit a run and gun system? I don't know about that. He seems like a fairly quick and mobile player for a 6'8 guy who can do a lot of things well if he's given a big enough role. If you acquired Eric Williams to play for your run and gun team, then I would certainly think Miller would be able to fit in as well.

Run and gun with Mutombo?
If you don't like Miller, get J.R Smith. Shoots really well from three, runs the floor and can finish at the rim.

Sorry for the mistake, i meant defensive team, hustling opponenets to turnovers, out-rebounding etc. Im new to basketball so im still quite a novice to the terms...Next update coming soon.

not sure if you've got the latest rosters or not but Corey Brewer might be someone to consider. So-so perimeter game but quick slasher-type and solid defender

Cavs 101-96 Grizzlies
No one can stop the King, not even Bosh and company. Lebron James dominated with a game high 36 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The game started off evenly, both teams playing solid defense to lock their opponents down. A buzzer beater three pointer at the end of the first quarter by James gave Cavs a 33-30 lead. Grizzlies, led by rookie Z.Hiro, went on a massive 16-4 run midway through the second quarter, keeping James to a 1 for 8 shooting by setting guards R.Bell and Z.Hiro on him.
The third quarter added with a 70-63 score in favour of the Memphis Grizzlies. It was then Lebron James decided to spoil the party. Needing to catch up, Cavs concentrated their offense through James. With 1.5 mins to go, Cavs managed to close the gap to four points, 92-96. In that crucial play, James sank a three from the corner. Coach Sky of Grizzlies immediately called for a time out. Using a pick and roll, Bosh found himself open before being blocked by Lebron James. James scored another three from the resulting fastbreak. With 30s to go, James stole the ball from R.Gay's inbound pass, firing another three to make it an uphill task for the Grizzlies. M.Miller missed the subsequent curcial dunk, sealing the game at 101-96 in favour of the Cavs. Lebron James scored 28 of his 36 points in the last quarter.
Grizzlies Stats
Bosh - 28 points, 12 rebounds,5 assists, 1 steal, 1 block

You should add opponents stats. Gives a better overview how they played.
Nice games from Bosh and Gay, too bad you lost though. Mutombo was also good.
Wed Sep 09, 2009 9:49 pm
I will do so the next time=) Mutombo had a great game, coming in when Bosh is tired or i shift Bosh to Pf and play Mutombo at center, they compliment each other.=)
The only bad thing is King James, he was unstoppable in the last quarter.

Memphis, Tennessee - Fedex Forum
"Sky!" rushed in Teddy Kidd, panting, trying to catch his breathe.
"Hey relax! Dont want you dying here..."Sky shook his head at his young personal assistant. He was too enthusiastic about his work.
"Erm...About the rumor you asked me to check out, it took a while but it seem to be confirmed. Joe Johnson is definitely looking to be traded. Im 90% sure." Ted shook the papers in his hands, passing it to Sky to read.
"Unhappy with current roster, row with coach...etc. Are you sure he will fit in our team?" Patrick, the assistant GM glanced at the report Ted had gathered. " I mean, he did move to Altanta to get a bigger role, now this issue with rosters, wont he be a little too much to handle?" Patrick said with a worried look on his face.
"We definitely need someone who can shoot the three ball and create shots on his own. Mike is a good shooter but he needs ppl to find him shots. You saw it yourself last night, we need another reliable scorer to take some pressure off Bosh. He died off in the last few mins. No one except Bosh scored above 20 points so far. We might lose some depth but if we can pull this off, i think we will make it far in the playoffs. Bosh is not good enough to carry the entire team." Sky said.
"Good point, i mean if we can pull this trade off without sacrificing too much depth, then it will be good for our franchise." Peter, the head scout said.
"If you can keep Joe in check while making sure the team can play well then i dont see the harm. " Patrick nodded his head.
"If its settled then i will contact Atlanta." Sky said, grinning, the team is going to get better.

NBA NEWSJ.Johnson Head to Grizzlies in a surprising trade
Both franchise announced the trade this morning. Joe Johnson heads to Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for guard M.Miller and forward B.Cardinal. Most neutrals were surprised by the move since J.Johnson was the Hawks top scorer last season. Atlanta Hawks' GM hinted that J.Johnson had a bad relationship with the team staff and the team. " We cannot continue to have him around! Our team got a direction and that is to improve our team. We had to do something." Commented Hawks' GM, pointing out J.Johnson absymal .200 field goal percentage, the Hawks are now on a 0-3 record.
"This was a great deal for us, personally i honestly think that it was a coup for us. Joe is a great shooter, absolutely lethal from the 3 point range, which we lack right now. He would take some pressure off Bosh in terms of scoring, he shown us last season that he could easily score 20 at any given night." Said Patrick, the assistant GM of Memphis.
J.Johnson rubbish the talk that he would mess up the team's chemistry and cause disharmony in the Grizzlies' locker room. " I dont know why people would think that way, i did have some issues with the Hawks which i was unhappy about but thats in the past. Im very focused to help this team improve. I had a bad start but i believed i can only get better. I dont mind playing the second fiddle. This franchise got an excellent young core with Gay and Bosh, even their rookie Z.Hiro looks very good. Im very excited to be part of this."

Memphis Grizzlies Edged Chicago Bulls 128-120
It was a night of fast paced basketball. The Grizzlies and Bulls went for offense from the start, finishing the first quarter with a tie of 39 points. The Memphis Grizzlies surprised with their uptempo offense, moving the ball quickly up the court, scoring 40 points purely by through fast breaks. " We know the the Bulls are a little bit slower than us and we used this to our advantage. Our game plan was to strike them before their defense could get organised and get some easy points." Coach Sky broke down the Grizzlies' game plan. The game was a see-saw game as both teams were even for the first three quarter, scoring 90 points each. In the last quarter, the Grizzlies pressure their defense full court, the slower Bulls simply ran out of steam. Many a times the Grizzlies found an easy bucket in transition.
J.Johnson had an excellent debut. All eyes were on the shooting guard as he had an torrid start to the season, shooting only .200 from the field, much lower than his career average. Many people doubted if he could fit into the Memphis team but he proved his doubters wrong with an excellent 0.600 field goal percentage. He also proved that he is a team player, dishing out 6 assists.
"Its all in the mind. When theres no distraction you find it alot easier to play." Shrugged Joe after his amazing debut.
The addition of Johnson lifted the offensive load off C.Bosh. Johnson and Bosh both scored 24 points, but Bosh grabbed a career high 22 rebounds. "With Joe, i can focus on the defensive aspect knowing that we have another scorer on the team. I think we played excellent offense today. However our game is based on defense and im glad that we played well defensively as well. Gay and Hiro had a excellent game as well."
