lost dynasty

Postby bobcatjoe on Thu Aug 20, 2009 1:53 pm

i've drafted all rookies or second year players and in the midst of my first season, i've been developing my players although the lack of experience is really hurting us right now(11-42). On the bright side, all of the starters on the all-rookie team are mine.Looking back, i probably should've gotten chris paul. Here is my roster as of the all-star break.

pg-73-Marcus Williams
pg-70-Nate Robinson
sg-75-Adam Morrison
sg-74-Randy Foye
sg-65-J.J. Redick
sf-71-Tyrus Thomas
sf-71-Rudy Gay
sf-66-Rodney Carney
pf-75-Andrea Bargnani
pf-70-Sean May
pf-64-James Singleton
c-71-Lamarcus Aldridge

Now I know that I have three guys who can play pf or center. I'm just having trouble figuring out which one to put at power forward and which two to play at center. And who to start at small forward? I've actually been able to use tyrus effectively but gay is a much better midrange guy. Any suggestions or comments, please comment.

You should've updated the rosters first.

i'm sure no harm was intended to make you feel bad bobcat; it's easy to read more into words (especially online) but likely it was just a passing thought/suggestion

as far as your team, i'd personally go with Aldridge and Bargnani at C and PF respectively; also Gay over Thomas since i'd want Thomas to anchor the 2nd unit defense

all n' all, your 'Cats seem to be a middle-of-the-pack team at best, with no real vets nor dominant "go-to-guy" team leader; I'd probably package some of your less favorite players and try shop for a marquee player (but that's just me); but i think 11-42 would put you past the trade deadline so maybe it's time to start thinking Lotto...

Yeah its like the other guy said, put aldridge and bargnani at center and start bargnani at center because of his three point shooting, he's good at three point shooting. I'd like to see you develop rudy gay's offense and have him become a good three point shooting, i think you need more three point shooters on your team, especially your bench. I'd probably trade james singletary and marcus williams for a point gaurd who can pass and shoot, this team needs more offense and defense but should be pretty athletic, i like this young team. By the way, how is the draft this year? Is it strong or what? I'd love to see how you develope these players, especially players who can shoot like adam morrison and rudy gay, let us know how your players develope because i'm very interested in this dynasty.

just to clarify (i being 'the other guy') i didn't say put Aldridge & Bargnani at Center; rather I'd start them both: C - Aldridge; PF - Bargnani, with May/Singleton off the bench

Now in the off-season i traded marcus williams and singletary for devin harris who is now an 80 overall rating. And drafted a center in the draft(second overall pick) who will dunk over anyone. At the end of the season i traded carney for an expiring contract because he hadn't developed at all and i wasn't using him. I could've signed Chris Bosh or Carmelo Anthony but seeing as they would throw off the team's chemistry and i had no place for them while keeping my roster together, I decided to wait another year and see how my players were developing and then sign a free agent.
My roster now
pg-Devin Harris-81
pg-Nate Robinson-72

SG-Adam Morrison-76
SG-Randy Foye-75
SG-J.J. Redick-69

SF-Rudy Gay 73
SF-Tyrus Thomas-72

PF-Andrea Bargnani 78 wow
PF-Sean May 71

C-Wayne Oliviera 83
C-Lamarcus Aldridge-73

Still open to suggetions i am just about to enter training camp

In reality your team needs to beef up heck this is Dynasty Mode! Strength is not that much of a factor.
Add a PF/C, you'll need it when one of your frontline players gets injured and to add more depth.

Al Harrington wants a 16 million dollar a year contract(NO!), Desagana Diop, Kurt Thomas (almost picked him) and Nenad Krstic(wants too much and too long a contract) are the only ones worth mentioning.

Kurt Thomas would've been better because I think your team is a Run and Gun type of team?
Kurt Thomas can hit mid-rangers but Dampier can't and Kurt is one hell of a good post defender too!

i think you might be right i've played 5 games with dampier and only in one did he play how i had expected when i signed him. Well, at least it's just a one year contract. By the start of next year bargnani and oliviera should be ready to become larger contributers. I also plan to sign a big guy in the draft.

I see you're probably developing bargnani, are you developing olivera as well? You have some strong big men, but i think you need better small forwards, it looks like morrison is progressing as well, that'll be good.

yes i plan on developing bargnani to about an 83 and oliviera can probably get to an overall rating of 90 he's been a beast in my first 2 games getting double doubles in both
