Basketball Career of Nathan Rowland

Postby cav on Sat Jul 11, 2009 11:13 pm

That will be some kind of be a pro mode :D I created a player and I will play with player lock on him. The season will start in predraft camp. Actually summer league. There will be some rookies in it and some free agents. There will be 3 games . Every game my player will earn points. 1 scored point = 1 virtual point , 1 rebound = 1,5 point , 1 assist = 2 points , 1 steal = 2,5 points, 1 turnover = -2,5 points, missed shot = -1 point , block = 3 points, missed free throw = -1 point .

My player will earn points . Then I will calculate a virtual points per game and finnaly 50 + average virtual points will be my overall before draft. I've put all skills to 70 to make my player as good as average player in summer league will be.

Lets get it started

White team achieves first victory, beats Blue team 50-73

Blue team struggled from the start to the end of the game finishing with poor 28% field goal percentage. Kevin Ollie and Nathan Jawai combined for 30 points for White team.
The game started with an 10-0 run from White team. First basket from Blue team came with 5:59 left in first quarter when Nathan Rowland scored an and one. Rowland was best scorer of Blue team with 14.
First quarter ended with 8-25 lead for White team.

In second quarter Blue team finally got it going offensively and won second quarter 18-16. But that was all they were able to do as white team was agressive and much better defensively in third quarter and yet again they didn't let Blue team score more than 10 points in a quarter. Austin Croshere , 13 points, was unstoppable in third making four shots in a row. Blue team, which didn't score a three pointer in whole game (0-7 from behind the arc) simply wasn't abe to score this night and finished the game behind by 23. They were outrebounded by 24 rebounds !

Individuals

Kevin Ollie showed his skills scoring 16 and adding 7 assists in only 21 minutes on court. Former Timberwolve was a clear leader of his team playing smart and conributing in every aspect of game.
Austin Croshere was also solid. He added 13 points and 4 rebounds in 17 minutes.

Prospect watch
On Blue team topscorer Nathan Rowland had 14 points 3 rebounds 7 assists and 6 steals . His problem clearly is ball handling and shooting. He had 5 turnovers and was shooting only 6-21 from the field, missing 3 of his 5 free throws. He was on the court for 30 minutes. Defensively he looks pretty good, almost great. But offensively he has big struggles and needs time to learn NBA style.

For better understanding of rules written above :
After first game I earned 25 points.
14 points = 14 vp*
3 rebounds = 4,5 vp
7 assists = 14 vp
6 steals = 15 vp
5 turnovers = -12,5 vp
15 missed field goals (6-21 FG) = -15 vp
3 missed free throws (2-5 FT) = -3 vp

Calculation : 14 + 4,5 + 14+ 15 - 12,5 - 7,5 - 3 = 24,5 virtual points
That means my overall would be around 75 based on 50 + 24,5 formula. Once I'll have overall I will adjust skills and do draft. But first I have to finish this Pre- draft league and hopefully bring my overall up a bit.

* - vp means virtual point

Blair probably 1.pick

Oakland (CA)-Rasheed Blair, 7'0, 289 lbs, will reportedly be a first pick of this years NBA Draft.Former Connecticut star was already in talks with Golden State Warriors after Tuesday workouts.
22 year old Blair might be the inside presence Golden State needs. Warriors also rejected rumours about trading 1. pick.
“ We have 1.pick and we keep it. There will be no pick trades. " said Warriors GM.

Blair, who averaged 23,2 points and 11,2 rebounds in his last season with Connecticut said: “ I talked with Warriors but nothing has been done. They might pick me but there is no guarantee.”
Many people believe that Warriors which are shoping Marco Bellineli might be more interested in bringing in a 19 year old Nathan Rowland or 20 year old Jamal Cato. Rowland , former Iowa student played only one year of college basketball and decided to go to NBA. He averaged 16,8 points and 7,7 assists in college.

NBA Draft will be held next weex in Madison Square.

Jefferson Leaves Via Free Agency

After adding second draft pick Nathan Rowland, people in Minnesota were excited about their new team. But just a
few weeks later Al Jefferson decided to sign with Detroit Pistons in free agency as Minnesota Timberwolves were
too careful and didn't want to offer Al Jefferson enough money. “ I want to be on the winning team and now I am.”
said Jefferson, which left big hole in Minnesota.

T'Wolves are now once again far from an playoff team.
