Warriors Hire RKO

Oakland, CA (AP) -- It was reported later after the Golden State Warriors lost to the Miami Heat that they will hire RKO as their general manager. RKO has been unemployed for the past month since his firing in New Orleans for making a trade without the Owner's word. The Warriors who are a part of the NBA Finals History who won the NBA Championship in the 1974-75 season with Rick Barry leading the charge. The Warriors have been in the Playoffs and the last appearance was in 2007 when they were the 8th seed and upset the number 1 seed Dallas Mavericks.

General Manager RKO has spoken to Chris Mullen and Chris Cohan who are the Owner and the Vice President of the Golden State Warriors. "It's his team and we feel that he can turn this franchise around" Cohan said. "We feel that what he did in New Orleans was the right thing to do by making that trade and we hope he can pull off something like that here." he added.

The Warriors currently are in the 12th spot out in the West. 3 seeds shy of the worst record in the West and stand with the record of 6-12. Stephen Jackson has been carrying the load for the Warriors but it is not enough. He has been frustrated and will probably want out if changes aren't made. Monta Ellis has been back this season and playing the point, but RKO believes that he is not a true point-guard and he will get one very soon.

We will just have to wait and see what happens with this team and what does RKO do next with this Warriors struggling team. Press Conference will be held tomorrow in Oakland with the new GM of the Warriors and including Chris Cohan and Chris Mullen.

Warriors Press Conference

Image Oakland, CA (AP) -- We have caught some time today with the newly acquired general manager for the Golden State Warriors and asked him a couple questions:

AP: How are you doing today?

RKO: I'm fine, how about you lady?

AP: What were your thoughts when you received a call from Chris Mullin?

RKO: Well, I was at home watching TV with my kids when my phone rang but I didn't answer it because one of my kids had it so I had to call him back and talk about the whole situation.

AP: Are you happy that you got such a nice offer from the Warriors?

RKO: I'm not about money, I'm just here to help the team that is struggling and get it on the right path.

AP: You mentioned that changes will be coming, when will you be looking to make some deals to improve the team?

RKO: First, I'm gonna see what I got to work with, I had a chance to attend our practice this morning with the day off and I have come up with my new starting 5 and the player roles which will be announced later.

AP: Are you planning on trading some of your younger stars including Ellis, Biedrins but also your leader Stephen Jackson?

RKO: I talked with Stephen and he wants to stay in Golden State but he has mentioned of wanting to get back up on top like he did with San Antonio in '03 so we will see what happens with that situation. As far as Monta and Andris are involved, they will probably stay, it's hard for me to say something when I haven't actually thought about anything.

AP: Will you try to make this a high paced team, gunning from side to side and scoring at will or make it a defensive team?

RKO: Personally, I like watching basketball and seeing teams score a lot, I'm sure that is what the fans want. We will try to improve our defense step by step.

AP: Can we take a look at who will the starters be?

RKO: Sure, I plan to start Biedrins, Turiaf, Jackson, Crawford and Ellis at point, that makes Maggette our 6th man, and players like Morrow, Watson, Wright, Randolph, Belinelli and Azubuike our role players. I'm sure adjustments will be made as the season goes on.

AP: Well, we hope you turn this franchise around and get out of the hole that the team is in right now.

RKO: Thanks and I will try to do my best!
