on to game 11 of the season already.

what a crazy game. I noticed before it started that some of
my regular starters were tired. so decided to change up some things,
giving hinrich, yi, bargnani and mason their first start of the season.
after 3 minutes wade had 2 fouls due to running and jumping
into defenders who were ready for him and took the charge.
lucky break for me. thanks to his early foul trouble managed to
keep him at only 17 points, shooting a mere 8-17 from the field.
I tried to get the 3 point game going early. but it seemed like
mason all of a sudden hadn't shot a 3 pointer in his life before.
maybe being a starter had thrown him of his game a little.
he ended up 0-5 from beyond the arc and total 5-21 for the evening.
it was not the night of 3's, as both the raps and the heat
only shot 4-36 combined.
I had to try a different tactic and began feeding the ball to yi.
he seemed more then up for it as he ended up player of the game
with a whopping 22 points in 33 minutes played. he grabbed 13
boards for his first double double of the season. the 13 rebounds
happened to mark a career high for the young man from china.
he also added 5 bloks to round of his performance.
bargnani had a double double of his own with 16 points and 10 boards.
bosh, coming of the bench, only needed 10 mins to get to 16 points,
shooting or should I say dunking a staggering 86%.
5 players were perfect from the charity stripe, showing that
practice does make a difference.

the raptors facing off against the nets turned out to be
quite the nail biter.
the game started out much like the previous one,
as devin harris got 2 quick fouls running into
well setup defenders. a bit later in the game
it turned out how important this was, as harris
was proving to be too quick for either calderon or
hinrich to defend. often his drives drew the double
team which lead to open looks for his team mates.
meanwhile carter and bosh were having a dunk off,
with one more outragious dunk after the other.
bosh might not get dunk of the night, but
he and his team did manage to hold on to a lead
gained only minutes before the final buzzer sounded.
the 3 point shooting this game was again abysmal,
with both teams shooting only 10% from behind
the arc. the reason for this was most likely that
it was quite a physical battle with plenty of trips
to the free throw line, with the raps shooting 11-11
and the nets adding their 21-24.
player of the game was chris bosh with a wonderful performance.
he had 34 points in as many minutes, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Image
high man for the nets was the nearly unstoppable devin harris
with 27, shooting 10-22 from the field.
brooke lopez did his part by recording a double double
with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

this victory takes to raptors to a 9-2 record and a shared first place
of the division together with the new york knicks, who are having
an excellent season as well. trailing behind these two are the boston
celtics, who have won 1 game more and lost 1 more as well.

I got tired of some players whining and not delivering on the field.
like yi, graham, moon and kapono were causing the whole chemistry
to drop. and I wanted to get rid of scola because I just couldn't get
the hang of using him effectively.
so after spending a few hours of trying out just about every possible
trade, here's what I got through.
I still want to get rid of hinrich, but he's got a seperated shoulder and will
need a few more weeks before he can expect a trade.

Image

so my team now looks like this

calderon/mason/ukic
gordon/richardson
nocioni/battier/ariza
bosh/bass
bargnani/bynum

everyone but nocioni is somewhat happy. I've adjusted the rotation
hopefully in the right way to keep them like that.

as it comes to games played, I lost against the celtics and beat
the bobcats and hawks.

the raptors came into this game 11-4, with the lakers being 9-5.
both teams were and are second in their division, trailing the
celtics and suns respectively.

it started off rocky for the raps as their newly acquired players
needed some time to get into the flow of the team.
the lakers power forward paul gasol got hot really fast and
ended up as the teams high scorer with 26 points and a dominating 18 boards.

Image

the laker dominance went on till midthrough the 3rd,
when calderon and gordon both started hitting 3's.
the lakers, with mihm playing as center, really
couldn't keep up with the heat from beyond the arc
that the raptors were putting on them.
chris bosh earned himself another player of the game
award netting 21 points, shooting 10-16 from the field.

Image

in these game highlights: bynum blocks shots,
jefferson, kobe, ariza, bargnani and bosh taking off
and slamming it down. calderon and gordon banging it home
from downtown and kobe making a shot from almost
half of the court.

after playing the association for a while I think it will be more fun if I just play quick games. the asso is too much about babysitting if you ask me. I was more busy with giving everyone minutes and making them happy than I was playing basketball.

also I've read through some other peoples threads and I see that the people who follow associations are more interested in made up stories than coverage of games. I think I had gotten pretty good at recapping and doing highlight videos and slideshows, but if it's not what the people want, I might as well stop doing it.
was fun learning how to do anyways, so it was a good experience after all.
