Knicks eliminated by Boston.

In the end, Carmelo Anthony could not beat the Boston Celtics by himself.
The New York Knicks forward poured in a game-high 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough to prevent an embarrassing sweep at the hands of their hated rivals to the north.
The Celtics wrapped up the first round series, 4-0, with their 101-89 victory on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
"Tonight was one of those games that we have to leave it all out on the court. Wasn't no need to take anything home with us, and we did that," Anthony said. "So I'm pretty sure that we gained a lot of respect from a lot of people right now, but this is the first step of something great."

Manhattan, New York --

The stage was set as New York faced Boston for the first game of the season. Carmelo stared at the crowd, sending them a grin. Tip off was about to begin, and Jeremy Lin was conversing with Rondo, they shared some laughs as Tyson Chandler palmed the ball in the air.

The first quarter wen't as expected. Boston came out red hot with an influx of scoring. New York couldn't contain Pierce's red hot shooting in the first half, as he was perfect throughout the entire game from the free throw line. Ray Allen shot some threes and was also good on the break.

New York was creeping back up. Carmelo hit multiple big shots, Jeremy Lin got to the line numerous times as the Knicks got the lead and never really looked back. The fourth quarter was hectic. Allen rained down three after three, and the game was tied. The Knicks looked at Melo, who had eight points in the fourth quarter, which sealed the deal.

Knicks 88 - Boston 80
