[NY-TESB] Trade, Carter a Knick (NBA 2K11)

Sat May 07, 2011 3:52 am

Image

Hi! This is my first attempt at a 2K Association Story, you may remember me from the Live Dynasty section. I kinda missed doing this so I thought why not have another go at doing this. Please bear with me and hopefully you guys will enjoy following my association! Thanks!

I picked the Knicks since Carmelo Anthony is my favorite player in the NBA and the Knicks are an intriguing team to use. They have a nice duo with Melo and Stat. Chauncey is getting old and they need a whole lot more help if they want to contend for the championship.

I'll be simulating the first season (with CPU trades turned off for realism) and start with the 2011 offseason. So without further adieu, my New York Knicks association...

2010-2011 SEASON RECAP (TEAM)

THE HOMECOMING

    Image

Carmelo Anthony, a native of Brooklyn, New York, finally got his wish granted after a blockbuster deal landed him with the Knicks which also included former NBA Finals MVP Chauncey Billups. The two former Nuggets will team-up with fellow All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire and forge their own version of "The Big Three". Anthony immediately signed a 3-year contract extension to play for his hometown, reportedly worth $65 million.

THE INJURY BUG

    Image

    - It was only the 3rd game of the season when starting C Ronny Turiaf tore his MCL. The injury was so bad that it caused him to miss the remainder of the season.

    - On March 1, lightning struck twice as backup PG Toney Douglas also suffered a torn MCL while playing against the Orlando Magic. The injury will sideline him for 8-10 months which also means he'll be missing the start of the 2011-12 season.

    - Rookie G/F Landry Fields suffered a Broken Jaw on February 27 which also caused him to miss the rest of the regular season.

END OF THE REGULAR SEASON

    Image

Despite injuries to several of their key players, the New York Knicks overcame great odds and was able to secure the 7th playoffs spot in the Eastern Conference by beating the Boston Celtics on April 13, 2011. New York finished with a losing record of 40-42 but it was enough to clinch their first playoff berth since the 2004 NBA Playoffs.

They will face Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic in the first round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs.

BY THE NUMBERS

    Image

    - Amar'e Stoudemire led the team in both scoring (24.1) and rebounding (10.1).
    - Carmelo Anthony posted career-high numbers in three categories; rebounds (8.9), assists (4.1) and steals (1.5).

Nice to hear from you again buddy! Yeah, me too.. I simulated the whole season through with no intervention what so ever, just let the CPU manage the team so that probably explains it.

Thierry • wrote:Shame that Turiaf went down (N) Can't wait for next year man.

The injury made the team much smaller, which left only Shelden and Jeffries to man the middle.

HEAT 3:16 - YES. THEY. DID.

    Image

NEW YORK, NY -- When LeBron James and Chris Bosh decided to "take their talents" to Miami and join Dwyane Wade, the basketball world was shocked. Even basketball legends were disgusted by their move but "The Three Kings" just shrugged their shoulders and went on with their business - for they have already decided to build their own dynasty, TOGETHER.

In 82 games, "The Big Three" averaged a combined 63.3 points, 22.9 rebounds and 12.6 dimes. Their average PER (Player Efficiency Rating) is at 25.15 which is way above the league average of 15.00.

Miami breezed through the 2010-11 season and finished number one in the standings with a franchise best 64 wins and only 18 defeats. It also won them their 7th Division title. They went on to a season-high 11 straight wins which started from January 15 to February 13. And just to show how dominant they were during the season, they won by an average of 14 points which is tops in the league.

Miami has taken their first step into glory and they want to further that cause by winning the 2011 NBA Championship.

UPSET. DENIED! MAGIC OUTLAST NEW YORK IN SEVEN GAMES

    Image

The seventh seeded New York Knicks were a win away from moving on to the East semis but Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic shut the door and emerged victorious. Orlando demolished the Knicks, 117-88.

The deciding game was a no contest and seemed to be over at halftime when the Magic led by 19 points. They continued to pour it on and increased the lead to 26 points after the third period.

Carmelo Anthony led the way for the Knicks with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Amar'e Stoudemire and Landry Fields were both in foul trouble all game long which limited their effectiveness on the court.

On the other end, Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard dominated the paint and finished with 24 points and 13 boards while shooting 11-of-13 from the field. Jameer Nelson had eight assists and 24 points while Hedo Turkoglu chipped in 20 of his own.

New York came back from a 3-1 deficit and manage to extend the series to a Game 7 but ultimately fell to a better Orlando Magic team. The Magic had 5 players average in double digits during the series; Howard, Nelson, Richardson, Turkoglu and Arenas.
