Lake Show - (2-1) Cancelled File Corrupted.

Thu Dec 24, 2009 7:22 am

Alright, so I know I haven't been consistent with updates in my last couple of dynasties, but school and such gets in the way. Anyway, I will try at least one more time, with the Lakers. I normally don't pick a team that's already a contender, but I had an interesting idea that I would like to try with them.

Due to my unfortunate luck with video games, this dynasty has been canceled, as the file is corrupted :(

KOBE WANTS OUT!

It's official, Kobe Bryant has asked to be traded. Kobe asked to be traded after the Lakers failed to surround their star with talent. Kobe's wishes are rooted in a desire to play for a team that consistently makes the postseason, he says, something the Lakers haven't done recently. “At this point, I’m 27 years old. I have six or seven years left,” Kobe told ESPN on Friday. “I want to be in a situation where I can continually be in the playoffs and get another ring. So that’s where my mind is at now.” Several contenders would be happy to take Kobe, however his contract (estimated at roughly 16M) is a hefty price to pay. Some teams rumored to be interested are; the Knicks, Suns, Sonics, Sixers, and Hornets. Kobe said he would welcome a trade south to Texas, he also mentioned Steve Nash's Suns. “I’m just looking to go somewhere where I can go and win a championship,” Kobe said. Kobe stated he will no longer dress for the Lakers.

The Lakers will likely move Kobe asap.

Kobe wants a championship, so he's leaving the Lakers? Kind of bizzare, but it'll make an interesting dynasty story since it's not going to be entirely focused around Kobe.

You have to remember this is based roughly around the time Kobe asked to be traded in real life. The year before this takes place, (04-05), the Lakers did not make the playoffs.

Tyronn Lue will add a veteran presence in the locker room.

Lakers re-acquire Lue, send Grant & Medvedenko

The Lakers announced that they have agreed on a deal with the Hawks, to send Tyronn Lue to the Lakers for Brian Grant and Slava Medvedenko. Due to Atlanta's abundance of cap space, the deal was quickly finalized.

The Lakers - in desperate need of a Point Guard - had no problem sending the hefty contracts of Grant and Medvedenko, the deal cleared up roughly 19M in cap space for the Lakers.

Lue (28) Was the 23rd overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, but was traded shortly thereafter to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won two NBA championships in his first three seasons. He is thrilled to be back in LA.

"The Lakers gave me my first opportunity to play, this is where I won two championships and I'm thrilled to be back under Coach Jackson" said Lue of the deal

The Lakers Sent Brian Grant and Slava Medvendenko to Atlanta in exchange.

Grant averaged 5pts 2.5rebs and .5blks in two games with the Lakers this season.

Medvedenko recorded 2 DNP's.

Both forwards will play behind Al Harrington at the PF spot in Atlanta.

This deal not only clears cap space up for the Lakers, but also frees up a roster spot, that could be vital in dealing Kobe.

Final Deal :

Los Angeles gets :

- Tyronn Lue (67)

Atlanta gets :

- Brian Grant (66)
- Slava Medvedenko (59)

Lamar Odom helped carry the Lakers to a convincing win over Orlando.

No Kobe, No Problem.

Kobe Bryant made headlines earlier this week when he announced he would like to be traded, only days after, the Lakers would prove this dilemma has not affected them, delivering a crushing 159-128 loss to the Orlando Magic.

Newly appointed team captain - Lamar Odom - displayed a dominating performance, going off for 40 points, along with filling up the stat sheet across the board.

Each Laker stepped it up, from the starters to the 12th man, including a 33 point performance from Jumain Jones off the bench. Jones also went 7/7 from downtown.

Despite the crushing defeat, good games were put in by, Grant Hill, Steve Francis, and Jameer Nelson, each scoring 22.

Devean George, who was awarded the starting position at Shooting Guard, had a very solid night, scoring 17 points, grabbing six boards and dishing the ball twice. Solid games were also turned in by Von Wafer, Chris Mihm, and Andrew Bynum.

The Kobe-less Lakers look to keep the momentum they have built, when they welcome the Jazz to LA next week.

Final Score :

LAL : 43 - 37 - 43 - 36 | 159
ORL : 26 - 30 - 34 - 38 | 128

Key Player Stats :

Lamar Odom: 40 points, 4 rebounds, three assists, 4 steals
Jumaine Jones: 33 points, 2 steals

1) Liking the trade for Tyronn. (Y)

2) You should change your difficulty and play larger quarters, if you can search for some sliders here in the forum.

3) If you didn't trade Kobe yet, why he didn't play?

Moments after Jerry Stackhouse was acquired from Dallas, he was sent to New York.

Sharpshooter Quintin Richardson, a player supposedly rumored to be involved in Kobe trade talks, will bring his ability to spread the floor.

Both players will likely start for their respective squads.

Even after dealing their franchise player, the Lakers are looking like a team that might be able to turn a few heads come playoff time.

- Quintin Richardson

I Don't know about this.

But the trade for Kobe is weak.

Yeah Kobe should get 4 to 5 players I think

Re: Lake Show - KOBE DEALT !! (+ Game Recaps & Other Trades)

Mon Dec 28, 2009 4:22 pm

Thanks for the feedback!

But unfortunately, due to Live's limits on trades, the most I could acquire was 3.
Also, I thought about acquireing a star player, a la Vince Carter, but decided against it because I didn't want to automatically become a contender, I wanted to acquire young role players who added depth and thats what I did.

But who knows, Hollywood is where stars are made ;)

(failing that, maybe I'll acquire a star later this season :P)

Despite Kwame's Solid Game, The Bucks Downed The Lakers.

Bucks Win At Home

As bets were off as to how the Lakers would fair against the Bucks, the city of Los Angeles still layed in the wake of the Kobe Bryant saga.

Early in the game, the Bucks would jump to an early 8 point lead, however the high-spirited Lakers would fight themselves back into the game.

In the second quarter, the game would go back-and-fourth, until a 3 point buzzer beater, by newly acquired Quintin Richardson, would put the Lakers up by 1 going into the locker room.

The Bucks came out strong in the 3rd jumping to a 12 point lead, however the Lakers would go on a run of their own to even it up again. Jason Terry injuried his back late in the quarter, but was able to return.

The 4th came down to the wire, the Lakers, led by Terry, kept chiping away at the lead and had it to 6, however Terry would once again aggravate his back and not return. The Bucks then managed to capitalize on Terry's absence and hand the Lakers their first loss.

Adding insult to injury, Jason Terry, who was clearly the leader on the floor, will be sidelined up to 5 weeks, because of back spasms suffered in Milwaukee. Tyronn Lue will likely start in his place.

Final Score :

LAL : 32 - 22 - 15 - 35 | 104
UTAH : 28 - 25 - 25 - 33 | 111

Key Player Stats :

Kwame Brown: 16 points, 13 rebounds, 7 blocks
Lamar Odom: 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists
Jason Terry: 21 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 7 steals

Desmond Mason: 20 points, 4 rebounds
Michael Redd :28 points, 5 rebounds
Andrew Bogut: 6 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks

Current record : 2-1

Next Up: Washington Wizards

Sorry this recap isn't great, I'm in a rush :?
