Mutombo, Bowen, decided to call it quits.

After an 18-year career spanning over 1000 games, former Georgetown star center Dikembe Mutombo has announced his retirement from basketball. After injuring his right knee in the first quarter of his Houston Rockets’ first-round playoff loss against the Portland Trailblazers, the 7’2” Congo native said he wouldn’t attempt a comeback.

Bruce Bowen also decided to retire. The 6'7" guard, known for his defending skills, calls it a career after winning three championships with the San Antonio Spurs.

Four coaches, retire from NBA

Mike Dunleavy of the Clippers decided to focus on his General Manager job and retire from coaching. Finishing 19-63 last season was the biggest upset on Dunleavy's coaching profile while reaching the Finals in 1990-91 season with the Lakers was the greatest success in his coaching life. He finished his coaching career with 592-688 in 1280 games.

The hall-of-famer coach with no ring on his hands is now retiring from coaching the Utah Jazz. After 24 years of coaching, Jerry Sloan said that he will now sign off as a coach. He only coached two teams in 24 years, Bulls and Jazz. He got 1136-747 in 1883 games.

Next is George Karl. Another no-championship coach. After losing the Conference Finals last year, Karl opted not to coach anymore. He reached the Finals once, with the Sonics. He coached 1493 games with 879 wins and 614 losses.

The last is Rick Adelman. Lost twice in the Finals, with the Blazers, the 847-531 coach will now call it quits. Note that he only went below .500 three times in his coaching career.

Brown: I Could Coach Iverson Again

Bobcats coach Larry Brown hinted at reuniting with Allen Iverson in an interview on Friday.

"I love Allen," Brown told the Associated Press. "Everybody documents our issues, but think of the body of work when he played for me. Pretty incredible. And I know he has a big chip on his shoulder now. He told me he'd been to Charlotte."

Iverson will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Charlotte would likely have to clear cap space in order to sign Iverson, and the guard would have to agree to take less money and a secondary role.

Iverson was unhappy with a reduced role in Detroit at the end of this past season.

"I want him go to where he knows he can win," Brown said. "I think from my standpoint, I don't know if we're ready to win at the level I think a kid at his age, what he's done, should have. I want to see him go where he could win a championship."

Leon Rose, Iverson's agent, claims that his client is willing to play for Brown again.

"A.I. has the utmost respect for coach Brown as both a person and coach," Rose said. "I believe he would definitely be interested in playing for him again. Seeing first hand coach Brown's ability to build a culture and a team that plays the right way, he knows Charlotte will be a team to contend with as they continue to add pieces.

"I'm sure at the appropriate time these things will be discussed."

Iverson was named MVP while playing under Brown in Philadelphia earlier this decade.

Bobcats, clearing the pathway to get The Answer.

With the rumors floating that A.I. would go and play for Larry Brown again, the Bobcats now are looking more serious in getting the future hall of famer.

First move is to clear some cap space. They've done it. Traded Gerald Wallace, Nazr Mohammed and Alexis Ajinca to Detroit. In exchange, the Bobcats received this year's 3rd overall pick ('09 1st Round Pick) and Arron Afflalo.

Then later that day, they traded Raja Bell's 5 million contract to Sacramento Kings. Donte Greene and 32nd overall pick ('09 Second Round Pick) will be the replacement for the Bobcats.

Let's just wait for the next move. Maybe, they have signed The Answer.

What the Bobcats Do Well:

This year’s Bobcats showed flashes of life at various stages of the season, and stuck around in playoff contention until the very end. Larry Brown’s first season at the helm in Charlotte yielded the best record in franchise history (35-47), but at the end of the day, making the playoffs is how this team will measure true success. The Eastern Conference is getting better, and deeper, so to sneak in the back door of the postseason certainly won’t happen next year. But there is hope.

Larry Brown knew what kind of players he wanted with the Bobcats, and set about lobbying to get them. High-priced players like Jason Richardson and Adam Morrison were let go, in favor of role players like Boris Diaw, Raja Bell, Vladimir Radmanovich and DeSagana Diop.

Greatest Areas of Improvement:

Replacement for Gerald Wallace
-The Bobcats traded their, I think, main man to Pistons in exchange for a 3rd overall pick and to free some cap room.

We need "The Man"
-Bobcats looks still a young team. And as a young team, they also lack their main go-to-guy on offense or the so-called, "The Man". Maybe signing A.I. will be the greatest move ever made by the legend, Michael Jordan. But still, it's not guaranteed. But, this is what they are lacking. The Man.


Who’s Gone Number 3 Recently?

The third pick continues to be an extremely valuable selection – well, unless the Charlotte Bobcats selection. In three of the past five years, teams picking third have been handed their pick because the top two picks were so obvious that they had no choice (2004 featured Dwight Howard and Emeka Okafor at the top and Ben Gordon dropping to third, 2007 saw the Greg Oden/Kevin Durant Draft leave Al Horford for Atlanta, and last year’s Derrick Rose/Michael Beasley Debate steered O.J. Mayo in the three-spot). As for 2006, we have no idea why the Bobcats took Adam “Mr. Tears” Morrison with the third pick, and he might be out of the league by the end of next season.

Who Should the Bobcats Target?

- Hasheem Thabeet of UConn

Emeka Okafor looks good at the four position and Thabeet is a pure center that has the size and tools to play big here in the NBA.

- Blake Griffin of Oklahoma

Griffin was on a level all by himself this past season in NCAA basketball. He dominated the nation and nearly single-handedly guided the Oklahoma Sooners to the Final Four. His combination of strength and athleticism should translate immediately to the pros.

- James Harden of Arizona State

The Gerald Wallace trade is the main reason why they will pick James Harden. They need to fill that void. And Harden can fill that. He is a natural scorer and average 2.1 steals per game last year.

- Demar DeRozan of USC

Demar DeRozan is a slasher in the classic sense of the term with plenty of latent upside, but most scouts agree that expectations have been tempered from a year ago.

A.I. signed deal with Bobcats

After lots of talkings, The Answer finally signed with the Bobcats. Came by a disastrous year, the former Sixer, Nugget, and Piston will now wear the blue and orange jersey with his former coach, Larry Brown. With their stint in Sixers (2001), Iverson won the season MVP and the Sixers made it to the finals but losing it to the powerhouse Lakers. Brown expressed before the draft that they could get A.I..

Two former Bull, sign with Memphis.

Guard Ben Gordon heads to Memhpis with a 5-year $57 Million deal. The guard from UConn, whose known for his shooting skills will now play alongside Rudy Gay, Marc Gasol, & Mike Conley. Another former Bulls star Ron Artest, also signed $40 Million in 4 years with Memphis. The Grizzlies is looking to dominate the West, adding two stars in their lineup and getting Blake Griffin as their 1st Round Pick is a much-needed start.
