Welcome to the 2006-2007 Miami Heat Season

The 2005-2006 season ended with the Miami Heat's first championship, and a Finals MVP Award for Dwyane Wade. At the start of the next season, each player is a year older. Some are slower, some are faster, but there is still one constant, coach Pat Riley.

In what may be his final season, he has brought in an apprentice, Jimmy Page (hmm wonder where I got that one...). Riley made the announcement that this year will be his last and Page will assume Riley's role at season's end. Riley also mentioned that because their future is more certain, the team is wiling to make some roster moves in order to keep at the top of the standings, even after Zo, Shaq, and Gary Payton retire over the next few years.

Good Luck. The first Heat Dynasty for Live 07

Fri Sep 29, 2006 7:09 pm

GL man, but did the heat have any picks this year?

After winning the championship last year, Pat Rileyreturned but announced the introduction of an assistant GM and head coach, LZeppelin. Mr. LZeppelin will look to usher the team into a new era and follow in Riley's footsteps, hopefully making some prints of his own. Fortunately, there is a lot to work with but this first season will be a rebuilding year.

A few major offseason deals were made, and within a month, the Heat looked like a new team.

a rebuilding year coming off a world championship?

Good luck with your first dynasty!! Hope the Heat can go back to back. :D

Heat Get Blown Out in Opening Preseason Game

The Heat were blown out in a particularly poor performance against Sacramento, prompting Riley and assistant Jimmy Page to say that another like performance would result in a roster move.

"I am not happy with our performance. This is no way to start a season, getting dominated on fastbreaks and beaten up on the boards. If no one here is willing to grab the ball, I'm not afraid to bring someone in who will."

The Heat will look to fix their problems against a fledgling Charlotte team tomorrow night.

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g44/c ... n1POTG.jpg

The Heat shot 38% from the field compared to the King's 43%. The Heat also just shot 50% from the line while the kings shot at a 73% clip.

Most importantly, however, the Heat were outrebounded 58-37. This must change if the Heat plan to repeat.

Heat Lose to Bobcats in OT

Through most of the first three quarters, it looked like the Heat were going to bounce back. But up 6 in the third, they just couldn't score all of a sudden. The Bobcats made a run to end the quarter up by a point. However the Heat stormed back and took a four point lead. But to consecutive turnovers by Antoine Walker gave Charlotte some momentum.

They took a lead, which the Heat tied, and both teams battled back and forth in the last 30 seconds. Gerald Wallace missed a three at the end of regulation.

In the extra period, Charlotte grabbed the ball, scored, and did not look back. Miami managed to tie, but Charlotte took a six point lead assisted by a phantom charge call on Dwyane Wade. Overall, a disappointing game that Miami looked to bounce back in.

New this week, coach Page's doghouse and penthouse.

Doghouse-

1. Antoine Walker played very poorly. He played selfish basketball and had bad shot selection. He turned the ball over at key moments too.

2. Dorell Wright may not have a place on the team if he continues to play the way he did. He needs to work on his shooting to contribute.

Penthouse-

1. Shaq grabbed a lot of rebounds but needs to watch out for forwards moving in on him.

2. Dwyane played well as usual.

Preseason Games 3-6 Recap:

Sorry about the lack of updates, not that anyone is reading anyway, but I've been waiting to finish off slider adjustments and for the the official patch before I start the season.

After a third straight loss to open up the preseason, the Heat needed to make a change.

Two Florida natives, Jason Williams and Udonis Haslem were shipped over with rookie Mike Gansey for young stud Dwight Howard and point guard Jameer Nelson, a great shooter and penetrator who will work the backcourt with Dwyane Wade, in a deal with the Orlando Magic.

Likewise, the team hopes that an aging Shaq can mentor Howard and get him to reach his full potential. Strangely, Shaq has also publicly noted that before the February trade deadline, he may be finishing his career with another team.

The third preseason game was a loss to Detroit, 85-69.

Overall, a big win going into the season.

A few other notes: I have been playing 8 min. quarters for the preseason and will adjust to full regular season games.

I also recognize that the recaps have been lackluster, I'll be more complete from now on.

Get ready to repeat!

i thinks your roster is TOO powerfull! i thinks it's not interesting to play with such big inpack! any way u doing good, bring back walker :)

Wed Nov 15, 2006 7:25 am

I agree with you. That's why I'm planning to move Shaq out and get a younger center and a decent bench player.

The thing about Walker is that I don't like him at all as a player in real life, so I don't enjoy playing with him on my team at all.

I will get it going as soon as the patch issues are sorted out! :x

Wed Nov 15, 2006 4:50 pm

LZeppelin, understand! keep it up, am interested in what would u get in roster! but for me miami players like shaq, wade, zo, walker, payton - are the best, i'm playing with them with the pleasure!

Thu Nov 16, 2006 2:28 pm

Diddy- I love the Miami team in real life, but in the game the players seem incapable. I wanted to use more reliable players who fill the team needs. Please keep reading the dynasty though!

Heat Corral Bulls On Opening Night

It didn't really matter if the Heat won after the emotion of the ring ceremony, but they did anyway.

Behing Dwyane Wade's 29 points which earned him Player of the Game Honors, the Heat cruised to a surprisingly easy 113-101 victory. The Bulls hung close for most of the first half but fell behind late in the second. Through the third, the Heat played with much of their bench, letting everyone but Matt Carroll score, who played limited time due to a sore wrist.

Wayne Simien played well, providing 10 points and solid play on the block from the bench. The Heat got revenge on the Bulls after losing a preseason game to them.

But the true star was Wade. He scored 16 of his points in the final quarter and a half after sitting with three fouls for a while.

Dwight Howard and Shaq combined for 29 points, 27 rebounds, and 2 blocks, playing 40 and 34 minutes respectively.

The Heat look to continue a good start against the Nets on November 3rd.

Coach Page's Doghouse & Penthouse

Penthouse:
1. Dwyane Wade- As usual, he carried the team to victory, dropping in basket after basket in the third and fourht quarters, most of them tough inside dunks and layups with the shot clock running down.

2. Wayne Simien- Provided 10 points off the bench, as well as a rebounding presence. Some of his points were scored over the might Ben Wallace, even. If he continues to play like this, look for his minutes to go up.

Doghouse:
1. Dwight Howard- Despite playing a pretty solid game, he shot horrendously and needs to get better at simply putting the ball in the hoop. Things will work out with this guy.

2. Derek Anderson- This guy doesn't do much for the team. For the time being, functions as a decent shooter but isn't fast enough and can't dribble well enough to play the point guard position. It does not look like he has a place on the team with so many better shooters elsewhere.

Thanks for reading!

Heat Improve to 2-0 With Win Over Nets

The Nets' big three showed why they have earned the moniker, but were unable to lead their team to victory. Behind 19 points and 20 rebounds from Dwight Howard, matching up with Jameer Nelson's double-double of 19 points and 12 assists, the Heat simply outplayed the Nets. Wade (33 points, 5 reb., 5 assists) won player of the game honors, but hiss effect in the game was larger than the stat sheet.

He got Vince Carter and Jason Collins into foul trouble early, leading to a few of his 20 free throw attempts. Collins still managed to grab a surprising 16 rebounds and Carter 21 points, but they weren't enough to affect the game.

Richard Jefferson meanwhile, played huge, with 31 points and 10 rebounds, going along with Kidd's 28 points, 9 rebounds ,and 11 assists.

And while Wade played a big role for Miami, it was inside dominance that won it for them. Going often against New Jersey's outmatched bigs, The Heat's two-headed monster of Dwight Howard and Shaquille O'Neal combined for 39 points, 33 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Gerald Wallace also did his part, scoring 13 points including 5 of 10 at the free throw line, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Miami's bench was not happy with their playing time this game, but acknowledge the fact that New Jersey would have won if they were in for too long. Alonzo Mourning, playing just 3 minutes with 2 points and 2 rebounds, said:

"We want to win, games, and if that means me taking a back seat to the other guys, that's fine."

Heat Continue Winning Trend Against Philadelphia

The Heat got to 3-0 last night with a 125-116 Victory over Philadelphia. Allen Iverson played well with 36 points and 10 assisst, but was kept out of the game for much of the late third and early fourth quarters with foulf trouble. Chris Webber also played well in a game where Philadelphia gave up 40+ points in multiple quarters.

Despite Miami's bench playing poorly, except Zo (10 points) the Heat's offense was excellent. Wade put up a 36, 6, 6 night, carrying the team while Nelson scored 19 while Shaq and Howard scored a combined 38. Gerald Wallace got to the line a lot, again (13 attempts), but made just 5 free throws and 11 points. Posey may start the next game in his place.

The Heat were down 6 at the start of the 4th, but picked it up to get the win.

Heat Get First Loss Against High Scoring Sonics

The Sonics played the Heat's game, and played it better.

The Heat, the highest scoring team in the league, but also giving over 100 points/game, lost a shootout to the Sonics who led the league in scoring last year.

The Sonic's stars played amazingly well, Ray Allen had 42 points, while Rashard Lewis was the player of the game with 28 points and 15 rebounds. Earl Watson also chipped in with 27 points, and 8 assists.

But Dwyane Wade almost managed to spoil it all. Dropping 38 points with 7 rebounds and 9 assists, he filled the stat sheet, but almost won the game. Trailing by 8 in the waning moments, wade drove to the basket to provide open open shots, but Salim Stoudamire and Jameer Nelson missed open threes that would have tied it or decreased the lead significantly.

Shaq too looked like his old selg, getting 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blcoks while Howard struggled. Facing double teams from Rashard Lewis, he had just 14 points and 9 rebounds. His rebounding total was hist first under 10 this year.

James Posey started over Gerald Wallace, and really outplayed him, getting 11 points in 19 minutes with 3 rebounds compared to Wallace's 6 and 4, going 0-6 in FT's in 30 minutes.

Neither one was very successful in stopping Rashard Lewis though.

The Team's biggest problem this year has been its free throw shooting. If it can improve, things may bo better. No matter what, the Heat will play the Nets again next game.

Oh... my dream... HEAT with Dwight,Shaq,Wade and Gerald Wallace...
Lineup suggestion-
start with payton, and make Nelson your sixth player.
and don't even think about starting with Salim instead of Gerald again, nor with D as your point and Nelson your second...

C-Shaq
PF-Dwight
SF-Wallace
SG-Wade
PG-Payton
6th-Nelson

7-Posey
8-Zo
9-Wright
10-Simien
11-Hite

Barron,Doleac,Salim and Derek either need to be traded or waived.

I've never played live07 so I don't know what the rosters and ratings are.

Well,GL with this, and GO HEAT FOR CHAMPS!!!

Tue Nov 28, 2006 2:51 pm

Shi- I appreciate the suggestions, but without Nelson in the lineup, the team has no quality three point shooter starting in the game. Payton has quietly played very well, and has proved capable of a backup role, but not as a starter.

I'm glad you took a look at the dynasty! Please keep reading and give suggestions!

On to recaps.

Heat Win OT Thriller Against Nets

Salim Stoudamire showed just how much a player's standing can change in one game.

Or even one moment.

Just seconds after missing his 3rd trey of the game, he got a pass from a Shaq Offensive rebound and netted the tying 3 to send the game to overtime, where Dwyane Wade and Dwight Howard combined for all of the team's 16 points but 2 from a Shaq dunk.

New Jersey had made a valiant comeback too, only to come up short in the end. Trailing 31=14 after 1, they made it a 3 point game at the half, and fell behind again in the third. But with Jason Kidd and Vince Carter returning after foul trouble, they made a late run.

Richard Jefferson carried his team, not matching his 31 point total from the last meeting, but still getting 15 to go with his astounding 21 rebounds.

The Heat too filled up the stat sheet. Both starting big men grabbed over 20 rebounds, with Howard scoring 20 and grabbing 20 while Shaq fought his way to 25 and 22. Both players have been astounding on the boards this year, but need more contribution from teammates.

Dwayne Wade got a little bit of that done, grabbing 5 to go with his 8 assists and 43 points. However, when he was announced as the POTG, a cry of dissatisfaction rose from the crowd expecting to hear Shaq's name for the first time all year. Wade also played a career high 50 minutes.

But Salim Stoudamire had his night, now to see if he can continue playing well.

Miami Loses 2nd Game of Season to Rockets

Dwight Howard had a season high for points with 21, but couldn't get it done against a surprisingly good Rockets front line. Shaq grabbed 14 rebound and scored 20 points, mostly on Yao during the Rocket's big man's limited time. But Howard was smply outplayed by the other Howard. A season low 7 rebounds was 5 less than Juwan's 12.

Miami never really made the run they needed to erase the early deficit, despite Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady playing a limited 32 minutes each due to fouls.

Part of the problem was Shane Battier. The POTG had 29 points on 12/22 shooting with 9 rebounds. He also did a pretty good job on Wallace, who came back from a second straight poor performance with 11 points and 6 rebounds, but couldn't guard Battier.

The Heat have struggled all eyar with good shooters and Battier was no exception. Tracy McGrady too nailed a few threes to help the Rocket's cause.

But Free Throws were an issue too. The Heat shot a simply miserable 7/29 from the line, with Wade going 3/10 in his 31 point performance.

The Heat next play the 2-3 Nuggets at home Tuesday night.

ok about Nelson, but why is Stoudamire still on the starting five when you got posey and Gerald Wallace?
I think that you should trade James and Payton for a high level PG.

And can you tell us the current roster you are using?

Good win against the nets btw,and The rockets are a very good team and a hard one to beat.

Thu Nov 30, 2006 1:12 pm

Stoudamire does not start, I just had him in the game for three point shooting.

The starting five have been:

C- Shaq
PF- Howard
SF- Gerald Wallace
SG- Wade
PG- Nelson

Before I make any point guard related deals, I want to change the frontcourt. The team is a little stacked right now and I want to trade Shaq for a lesser offensive force, but a good rebounder. Draft picks are also an option.

Nelson has been doing a pretty good job shooting and passing (leading the league in assists) so I'm not sure if I really need a point guard.

Basically I'm more interested in getting a good young presence inside to pair with Howard, as well as draft picks as there are quite a few good options this year, than an amazing PG. If needed, Wade can also run the point.

Update with win over Nuggets soon.

Fri Dec 01, 2006 7:01 am

I'd do a Shaq-Payton-Stoudamire for Nash-Amare or Shaq for Baron Davis\Gilbert Arenas and Payton-Stoudamire for Yao.

I talked about the entire roster, not the starting five, like this:
C-XXXX(Rating)
PF-XXXX(Rating)
SF-XXXX(Rating)
SG-XXXX(Rating)
PG-XXXX(Rating)
6th-XXXX(Rating)
7th-XXXX(Rating)
8th-XXXX(Rating)
9th-XXXX(Rating)
10th-XXXX(Rating)
11th-XXXX(Rating)
12th-XXXX(Rating)
IR1-XXXX(Rating)
IR2-XXXX(Rating)
IR3-XXXX(Rating)

or in exchange:
C:XXXX(Rating)\XXXX(Rating)\XXXX(Rating)
PF:XXXX(Rating)\XXXX(Rating)\XXXX(Rating)
SF:\XXXX(Rating)\XXXX(Rating)\XXXX(Rating)
SG:XXXX(Rating)\XXXX(Rating)\XXXX(Rating)
PG:XXXX(Rating)\XXXX(Rating)\XXXX(Rating)

That's ofcorse if you have 3 Centers,PF's SF's SG's PG's...

Sat Dec 02, 2006 10:34 am

Here's the full lineup:

C- Shaq (89)
PF- Dwight Howard (81)
SF- Gerald Wallace (79)
SG- Dwyane Wade (95)
PG- Jameer Nelson (76)
6- Alonzo Mourning (C)(77)
7- James Posey (SF)(73)
8- Salim Stoudamire (SG)(63)
9- Gary Payton (PG)(73)
10- Wayne Simien (PF)(59)
11- Dorell Wright (SG)(68)
12- Derek Anderson (PG)(68)
IR1- Anthony Grundy (SG)(52)

I'm not sure if I want to make such a big deal which could disrupt the chemistry. Also, like I said, those deals would make the team too good, and less fun to play with.

Heat Get Another Win 100-87

Dwayne Wade didn't play well, but the rest of the team did.

With no standout player in this game, Dwight Howard earned POTG with 16 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Wade, the league's leading scorer put in 21 on 10/14 shooting.

But the biggest story was free throw shooting. The Heat got to the line less, but shot 13/19 from it.

Carmelo Anthony, or any Denver Nugget for that matter, failed to get it going. Anthony scored just 19 points which J.R. Smith chipped in 16.

Smith shot well from beyond the arc (3/6) and did a good job defensively working with Boykins on Wade.

The game was fairly mundane, and the 2-7 Knicks don't look like they can put up much of a fight either.

1.Did Dwyane Wade win POTG or Dwight Howard did?
2.Was it against the knicks or against the nuggets?

Crazy Eyes

Fixed. I had the POTG from Game 5 instead of 7 up.

It was against the Nuggets. It says Knicks on the header because thats who I play next.

Well, a couple of things going on here.
a. I like the base of this team, so I don't really want to change that much about it, especially drastic moves like bringing in Amare and Nash

b. The team already is kind of overpowered. I feel like I need to tone it down in order to have more fun.

c. A continuation of the last point, the teams are supposed to get better, not not by stacking the roster with superstars. Take the Knicks. Even in-game, they struggle because all of the players shoot a lot and have low chemistry, just like real life. If I had a lot of good players on the team, it could end up like that, all of the players competing for shots. It's hard right now with just Howard, Shaq, and Wade.

But don't worry, I'll make a big move as the season develops and I see what kind of draft position teams are getting.

Recap for the Knicks game soon.

Understood.
But focus on the next draft, you need 2 IR's.

I agree. There are a number of prospects I'm looking at and I'll do a report soon, once I research all of their defensive skills (at least). I already have offense done. There's a 7'5 guy with excellent potential, and if this game is like 06, then tall players with high potential end up being very good.
