NYK Season, 29 games. My first online write up attempt.

The new look Knicks opened the 2006 season in New Jersey on Saturday night in what will be a season full of answers for question marks all over the roster. The first answer was ugly.

The Nets ran away from the Knicks after a slow and ugly start for both teams in the first quarter. A quarter in which both teams combined for 27 points did not foreshadow the pace for at least one team.

Dominated by the Marbury and Curry franchise corner stone in the second, the Knicks had their only quarter in which they outscored their opponent. Curry's first outing as a Knick was met with mixed reactions as he put up a line of 19 points, 8 rebounds (2 off), 2 blocks on 8-13 shooting. Many Knicks fans were bother by the lack of production from Curry late in the game, a problem that plagued him in Chicago. The difference there last year was his team mates could carry the load when needed. There is no doubt for the Knicks to succeed with this roster they must establish a presence with him down low.

Vince Carter (19 pts) and Steve Francis (16 pts) had numorous back and forth showdowns which electrified the mostly pro Nets crowd. The two exchanged jump shots in the 3rd quarter after Francis had a poor start in the first half and seemed to have trouble finding a role with his new team. "When Vince was coming at us I didn't plan on finding my own looks, that just happened in the heat of the battle, I think that got me going" said Francis. The two are most remembered together for their 2001 All-Star weekend Slam Dunk showdown in which they put on a duel for the ages. Asked if there was any tension between the two, Carter kept it civil stating that the two are friends.

That did not look the case on a hard foul by Francis early in the 4th period. Which was met by a Nets offensive flurry that excluded Jason Kidd who was resting on the sidelines for the entire 4th quarter. Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter seemed to get to the basket at will more often than contended in the 4th.

Final:
NY: 68
NJ: 78

Game notes:
Knicks rookies Channing Frye, Nate Robinson and David Lee all scored. Frye played the most minutes and scored on the Knicks first posession with him in the game. Showing the soft touch with a low to mid range jump shot without hesitation on his first touch of his NBA career. Nate Robinson saw limited minutes but scored on both of his attempts. Lee looked solid at times, adding 4 points, but also appeared to be a liability on offense posting up as the game entered the late grind.

The Knicks started Curry, Malik Rose, Jalen Rose, Francis and Marbury, a line up surely to change until the team can find the right mix. That has been made public by coach Larry Brown in recent days.

Steve Francis did not register any dunks while Vince Carter had 2 that dazzled the crowd, one on the first basket of the game for the Nets.

Francis missed slamming one home on an ally-opp pass from Marbury. The backcourt combo seemed to be nonexistent in terms of playing together.

Marbury scored 4 points while adding 8 assists.

The Knicks shot 26% in the first quarter and ended the game at 46%. They were 0-6 from behind the arch, the majority wide open.

Jerome James and Quintal Woods recieved a DNP - Coaches decision. On the bench but not dressed were Jackie Butler and Patrick McGrath (who the **** is that?).

This is my first time doing this online so I hope you guys enjoy it.

I am mostly just going to do game recaps and a few updates between.

Nothing too hardcore.

I hope you guys like it. I am a hardcore Knicks fan even though they are pretty horrid right now. I still try to get to a lot of games anyway.
