air's Nuggets dynasty

Mon Jul 25, 2005 2:52 am

Finally. I think I'm good enough to play at Superstar level now, so let the dynasty begin!

I picked the Denver Nuggets after my vote ended up tied between three teams. There was a good suggestion on the thread saying I should pick a team that has no dynasty right now, so here we are.

My settings are as follows:

Playoffs: 7-7-7-7
Quarter Length: 10 min
Sim Quarter Length: 10 min
Rosters: v. 1.15 from this site
Sliders: The ones suggested with the rosters, with fatigue at 45 instead of 50 and substitutions at 50 instead of 52. I also made FT's easier by around 5 for my shaky hands. Haha.
Games: 29, but why only 29? I don't have the time to play 56 games. I want to finish a couple of seasons and this way every game is big and every game will have a report.

I don't remember them all right now, but I have user shot control and everything, shouldn't be too easy.

I'll make a different post about the lineup in just a second...

DENVER NUGGETS

C: Marcus Camby, 6'11, center
F: Kenyon Martin, 6'9, power forward
F: Carmelo Anthony, 6'8, small forward
G: Voshon Lenard, 6'4, shooting guard
G: Andre Miller, 6'2, point guard

6: Earl Boykins, 5'5, point guard
7: Nene, 6'11, power forward
8: Julius Hodge, 6'7, shooting guard
9: DerMarr Johnson, 6'9, shooting guard
10: Eduardo Najera, 6'8, power forward
11: Wesley Person, 6'6, shooting guard
12: Francisco Elson, 7'0, center

R: Greg Buckner, 6'4, shooting guard
R: Luis Flores, 6'2, point guard
R: Linas Kleiza, 6'8, power forward
----------------------------------------------------

No trades were made during the pre-season. I will keep the team together for a while at least and see how everything will turn out.

During training camp I concentrated on all areas quite equally, most on offence and least on shooting, but with no strong emphasis on one area in particular.

In the opening game the Nuggets will travel to Indiana to meet the Pacers. To be honest with you, I've already played my two opening games and written short reports on them and the screens are ready too.

I will post them tomorrow at work, meanwhile someone can suggest a good place to store the pics online for free.

STAY TUNED.

Photobucket is a good storage place.

NUGGETS LOSE OPENER AGAINST IMPRESSIVE PACERS

Denver 74
Indiana 87

Denver Nuggets lost their opening game of the regular season to Indiana Pacers at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Pacers set the tone of the game right at the start and Denver were unable to cut down the Pacers' lead through the game. Indiana's win was helped by the team's high shooting percentage and aggressive offensive rebounding. Denver managed to make it a five-point game early in the third, but from then on it was Pacers all the way. Denver will look to put the misery behind them in their second game against the Detroit Pistons, but it will be a tough task.

Starters:
Denver
C M. Camby
F K. Martin
F C. Anthony
G V. Lenard
G A. Miller

Indiana
C D. Davis
F J. O'Neal
F R. Artest
G S. Jackson
G J. Tinsley

Player of the game:
S. Jackson IND 28/4

Team leaders:
DEN: Martin 24/4, Camby 22/7
IND: Tinsley 17/6 ast, O'Neal 14/11

Stats key: points/rebounds unless otherwise indicated (eg Tinsley 17/6 ast)

NUGGETS HOLD OFF FORMER CHAMPIONS PISTONS

Detroit 90
Denver 98

Denver Nuggets triumphed over former NBA Champions and last year's
finalists Detroit Pistons last night. After an intense high-scoring first quarter, the Nuggets pulled away in the second and led by as much as 16 points in the third quarter. The performance was something different compared to last week's game in Indiana, with the Nuggets pulling down several offensive boards to make a difference. The Nuggets' bench also played a part, with point guard Earl Boykins dishing for five assists and Brazilian power forward Nene leading the team with a whopping 24 points. Nene will most likely get another chance to shine in three days' time at the Celtics as star forward Kenyon Martin hurt his leg in the final quarter tonight.

"They came out playing very aggressive tonight", said Pistons coach Larry Brown. "This really sent out a message to the other teams in the league."

Nuggets coach Jeff Bzdelik was clearly delighted after the game. "We grabbed just a single offensive board against Indiana and decided that if we improve that part of our game, we will have a good chance of beating the Pistons and that's just what we did."

Starters:
Denver
C M. Camby
F K. Martin
F C. Anthony
G V. Lenard
G A. Miller

Detroit
C B. Wallace
F R. Wallace
F T. Prince
G R. Hamilton
G C. Billups

Player of the game:
K. Martin DEN 22/9

Team leaders:
DET: Hamilton 29/2, Prince 17/3/6 ast
DEN: Camby 15/11, Nene 24/4

Mon Jul 25, 2005 5:12 pm

Good win.... (Y)

Mon Jul 25, 2005 6:06 pm

Cheers, Emiliano.

I don't have the probable starters for Boston right now but the Nuggets will probably start Nene at power forward.

Any suggestions on anything and everything are welcome. Stay tuned for more Nuggets action.

It's good to see a dynasty on Denver, but I think a way to make your dynasty recaps a little more "nice looking" is to add some boxscores? You know how to add normal pictures so it shouldn't be that hard to add boxscores.

P.S. What would make this dynasty perfect is that you play Dermarr Johnson, who's probably my favourite Nugget. 8-)

NUGGETS FIND NO ANSWER AGAINST CELTICS

Denver 81
Boston 90

Denver Nuggets failed to make it a two-game winning streak last night in Boston. In fact, they were far from it. Boston controlled the game with their outside shooting and Denver were losing by as much as 14 in the third quarter. Despite Denver's frontcourt of Camby, Nene, Anthony and Martin, who was slightly injured, combining for 69 points, they were let down by their backcourt. Andre Miller has been unable to put up any type of decent numbers in the first games, while Voshon Lenard's defence is questionable, with the opposing shooting guards scoring a total of 80 points in the three games. Lenard adds an outside option to the Nuggets offence, but his defence is a serious problem for the Nuggets, who will be
facing the Chicago Bulls next at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Starters:
Denver (1-1 before game)
C M. Camby
F Nene
F C. Anthony
G V. Lenard
G A. Miller

Boston (0-3 before game)
C R. LaFrentz
F A. Walker
F P. Pierce
G G. Green
G G. Payton

Player of the game:
Pierce BOS 19/7/5 ast

Team leaders:
DEN: Camby 25/11, Nene 18/6, Anthony 14/5
BOS: Green 22/2, Walker 18/5, Payton 16/7 ast

Pictures:

Image
Anthony has some highlights but he hasn't been the star for Denver so far.

Image
The teams head to the half-time break.

Image
Martin had to step in the game hurt, but in the end it wasn't enough.

Image
Lenard is the Nuggets' main outside threat, but his defence remains a problem.

Tue Jul 26, 2005 1:54 am

Damn! I lost again. I can't stand Voshon Lenard. :(

Actually I don't have a screenshot catch program, but we'll see which way I decide with the box scores.

DerMarr might just get his chance, it's just that Camby, Nene, Martin and Anthony can all score from close. I want an outside shooter who can defend. I didn't think I would be considering a trade already.

Tue Jul 26, 2005 1:55 am

Good. Keep it up.

Tue Jul 26, 2005 2:14 am

Great dynasty, I love the pics. (Y)

Tue Jul 26, 2005 3:33 am

Nice win against pistons......I love how you post your pics

Tue Jul 26, 2005 4:43 am

I only have a couple of minutes now, so here's just a sneak preview into the matchups for the Chicago game. Pretty much what you'd expect, but here they are anyway:

Chicago (0-2 before game)
C E. Curry
F T. Chandler
F L. Deng
G B. Gordon
G K. Hinrich

Denver (1-2 before game)
C M. Camby
F K. Martin
F C. Anthony
G V. Lenard
G A. Miller

K-Mart is fit again. I have more time at work tomorrow so the report on this will be here along with screens. I might also make a bit of an analysis on how the Nuggets are doing.

Thanks for all your support and feedback! Stay tuned for more Nuggets action!

Tue Jul 26, 2005 4:47 am

this should be easy

Tue Jul 26, 2005 5:30 am

Tough loss, if you want you could try starting dermarr johnson for one game to see how he plays for you...good luck next game! (Y)

Tue Jul 26, 2005 10:30 am

Actually I don't have a screenshot catch program, but we'll see which way I decide with the box scores.

Just press "print screen" on your keyboard, that usually works for me.

Tue Jul 26, 2005 4:33 pm

I saved the report in my yahoo mail but it's not quite working now. If it doesn't start up I'll post the Bulls game when I get home. Meanwhile, here's some issues I have with my Nuggets:

The backcourt of VOSHON LENARD and ANDRE MILLER

Lenard is my main problem because he cannot keep up on defence for one second. He is also my only outside shooter beside Wesley Person who is not quite good enough to start.

Miller is not putting up any numbers, even in assists. He is way too slow to drive to the basket, he has scored just about all his points from free throws. His outside shooting is not good enough. Earl Boykins is a good second PG but at 5'5 allows the opposing PG to shoot over him.

It sounds quite a radical idea to change my backcourt completely but I don't know what else to do. With Lenard on court the opposing SG puts up 20 points with no effort, but without Lenard there will be NO threes. If I end up trading for a new backcourt, these are the qualities I need:

PG: has to be quick and a decent defender
SG: has to be able to knock down threes and a decent defender

...or a PG who can shoot the 3, but then my shooting guard has no role on my offence.

I don't want to trade any of my frontcourt players. Any suggestions?

MARTIN DESTROYS BULLS BUT IS HIT AGAIN BY INJURY

Chicago 86
Denver 94

Denver Nuggets managed to hold off a late comeback attempt by the Chicago Bulls last night at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. The Nuggets led by as much as 17 at the half but had their lead cut by the persistent Bulls team. Denver's dominant force was power forward Kenyon Martin, who returned from injury to score a season-high 41 points. Martin was to be injured again later in the game, this time with a nasty back injury. The medical staff are still unsure about the seriousness of the injury.

The Nuggets started Voshon Lenard at shooting guard again, but he played little part as he was substituted for rookie Julius Hodge after less than three minutes gone of the first quarter, having let Bulls shooter Ben Gordon make four baskets in a row. With Lenard out, the Nuggets were unable to make a single outside shot during the entire game until the veteran shooter returned in the fourth quarter. In return Hodge and DerMarr Johnson held Gordon to 10 points during the remainder of the game.

"Just by looking at where we took our shots you could tell we were missing any kind of outside threat", said Nuggets coach Jeff Bzdelik. He didn't make any comment on Lenard, saying everyone in the team must remain focused for the next game in New Orleans against the Hornets.

Starters:
Denver (1-2 before game)
C M. Camby
F K. Martin
F C. Anthony
G V. Lenard
G A. Miller

Chicago (0-2 before game)
C E. Curry
F T. Chandler
F L. Deng
G B. Gordon
G K. Hinrich

Player of the game:
Martin DEN 41/4

Team leaders:
DEN: Anthony 27/6/4 ast, Nene 12/4
CHI: Gordon 18/2, Hinrich 19/4, Curry 19/9

And again...

...until disaster strikes. With 9:06 left, he could have reached 50.

Tue Jul 26, 2005 7:15 pm

Here are some names I picked up from stats sites who could shoot from outside or put up some decent numbers. Don't know about their D tho...

Jason Kapono (Charlotte)
Ben Gordon (Chicago)
Kirk Hinrich (Chicago)
Jeff McInnis (Cleveland)
Jason Terry (Dallas)
Jason Richardson (Golden State)
Mike Miller (Memphis)
Damon Jones (Miami)
Jamal Crawford (New York)
Jim Jackson (Phoenix)
Joe Johnson (Phoenix)
Quentin Richardson (Phoenix)
Nick Van Exel (Portland)
Cuttino Mobley (Sacramento)
Morris Peterson (Toronto)
Gilbert Arenas (Washington)
Rafer Alston (Toronto)

All suggestions welcome. You can see my trading options from the roster at the top. Just don't pick Camby, K-Mart, Carmelo or Nene.
