Shareef Abdur-Rahim dealt to Miami
October 30, 2004
It was reported earlier this morning on ESPN's "Cold Pizza" that the Portland Trailblazers had traded All-Star foward Shareef Abdur-Rahim to the Miami Heat. Hours later the trade was officially announced, and we found out the two newest members to the Portland Trailblazers roster. The Blazers aquired veteran guard Eddie Jones and foward Rasual Butler from the Miami Heat, and in return send Shareef Abdur-Rahim.
Shareef was aquired along with Theo Ratliff near the trade deadline earlier this year, when the Blazers sent Rasheed Wallace to the Atlanta Hawks. "Shareef is a great talent, but there weren't enough minutes for him and Zach.", said head coach Maurice Cheeks. The Blazers are happy about the two players they aquired, and you can expect Eddie Jones to be starting at the shooting guard position.
GM Steve Nash says there should be more moves expected before the end of the season, he also reported the team was in talks with the Atlanta Hawks about a possible pre-season deal.
