Chicago Bulls Season Recap:

One year after Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls won the NBA Title against the LA Lakers; the Chicago Bulls and their superstar Michael Jordan would let the league know that they were just getting started. Not satisfied with the club-record 61 wins of a season ago, the Bulls improved to 67-15, tying for the fourth-best season mark in NBA history. The incandescent Jordan won his third MVP Award and sixth straight scoring title, but he averaged only 30.1 ppg, his lowest average in six seasons. More than ever, Jordan worked to capitalize on the burgeoning talents of Scottie Pippen (21 ppg) and Horace Grant (14.2 ppg, 10 rpg).

The Bulls enter the NBA Playoffs as the Eastern COnference number one seed. Will Michael Jordan lead Chi-town to a back to back championship? Or will another team in the East or West defeat the league's hottest team around?

Chicago Bulls Starters

C: Bill Cartwright - The 7'1", 245 lbs, 1979 first round pick averaged a solid 8 ppg and 5 rpg for the Bulls' triangle offence. Injury forced him to miss a lot of games in December but the plug in the middle is ready for another championship campaign. Cartwright is backed by Will Perdue and the duo will be instrumental if the Bulls are to contend for the title due to their size and passing.

PF: Horace Grant - The 4 year pro averaged 14.2 and 10 on close to 60% shooting fro mthe field for the season in 81 games over the course of the season. Grant's inside presence is important for Chicago becuase once Jordan and Scottie can't penetrate, they have an option down low who is dependable to swing the ball into.

SF: Scottie Pippen - A superstar in the making, Pippen played the point forward position to near perfection this season as he averaged 21 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 7 apg and started all 82 games of the regular season. The 1-2 punch of Pips and MJ is the reason why the Bulls are the most feared team in the NBA.

SG: Michael Jordan - The Bulls' favourite son who once again completed an MVP worthy season. He's become a household name and wants to lead the Bulls to another ring before setting his sights on the 1992 Barcelona Olympics in the Summer. The former Tar Heel averaged 30 ppg, 6 rpg, 6 apg and 2.2 spg in 80 games.

PG: John Paxon - The veteran PG is another important piece of the Chicago puzzle although his role seems very minimal. He avergaed 7 ppg and 3 apg for the Bulls this season and his 9 years in the League is a lot of experience for the young team. He's a very able shooter when he gets open.

Cartwright Breaks Through In the Clutch

Chicago Leads Series 1-0

Chicago - Bill Cartwright scored 4 of his 6 points in the final minute to help savour a Bulls' win in game 1 of the first round in the 1992 NBA Playoffs. First seeded Chicago survived a long range shooting Miami Heat team to take a 1 game advantage in the series.

Willie Burton led the Heat with 21 points and third year pro Glen Rice added 18 as the Heat fell victum to a tough home side. Rony Seikaly grabbed 14 rebounds but struggled on offence against the Bulls' Horace Grant.

Michael Jordan tallied 20 second half points including a dominant 14 in the final quarter en route to 30 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals in 46 minutes of court time. Partner Scottie Pippen added 27, 6, 4 and Grant had 14 and 12. John Paxson provided an inspirational display for the Bulls as he returned from an ankle injury sustained in the third quarter to make two crucial steals in the fourth period. Head Coach Phil Jackson stated after the game, "The team is playing great basketball. This is how you win by getting teammates open and thanks to Bill, we won. He hit open shots."

With 1:32 left in the game, Rice hit a three which put Miami ahead 94-93. Cartright made an open 7 footer with 1:08 left before Miami quickly took back a 1 point advantage behind Rice's mid range jumper at the top of the key. Jordan converted a flying lay up with 45.2 and Seikaly countered with a jumper within the paint. The Bulls, down by 1 with 38 seconds left put the ball in Jordan's hands for an isolation play however, the star couldn't penetrate and dished the ball to an open Cartwright who hit the game winning jumper from 12 feet out. Only after rookie Steve Smith missed a close shot, Pippen was able to ice the game with two free throws.

Thanks for the comments fellas!

I found a roster patch in the site and dwnloaded it and decided to do a season but I couldn't have all the teams in it so I decided to do a playoffs series. I forgot to use fraps so my game crashed once again and therefore, you see no screenies or boxscores!

My bad, next game is next week so stay tuned.

BTW, I'll give everyone time to bet on the series. I'll think of something that can be used as a prize for first place!
