Before I post the results from the first game, I just wanna say that I'll be playing every 5 games or so. And I will intervene during the 4th no matter what the score at least once during those 5 games also. Onto the results from Opening Night:

Image
Blazers Win Season Opener 100-87

Image

Game Notes:
-Damon Stoudamire started out the season on fire from all over the court. Damon shot 6-9 from 3 point land, and went 8-13 on the game. He finished the game with 26 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds. If the Blazers can these kind of games out of Damon more often, then they could make it farther than most expected this season.
- Darius had a good game, and the Blazers hope that he can contribute like this on a consistent basis.
-The Rattler had a good scoring night, atleast on his terms.
-ZBo had a decent night, but not the kind that he should put up nightly.

Blazers Lose Home Opener by 14

Image

Game Notes:
-Zach Randolph showed why he was voted MIP last year with a 25 point, 11 rebound game.
-DA, after a horrible first game caught fire in the 2nd quarter and hit 4 shots in a row, Anderson ended up making 11-24 shots, and 5-11 from 3 point land.
-DMiles followed up his first double-double of the season, with another one getting 12 points and 12 rebounds.

-Maggette and Brand both had double-doubles for the 2-0 Clippers. They had 31/10 and 22/11 respectively.

Blazers Trading All Ready?!?

(AP)- Word around the league is that the Portland Trail Blazers have all ready been looking around the league for a young, slashing, shooting guard. And word is, they'll give up Athletic freak Travis Outlaw, and almost anyone else on the roster to get that 2.

One Eastern Conference GM had this to say about the Blazers early season shopping. "They're looking for Joe Johnson-type Shooting guard to go along with their core players. I think it's a smart move by them, get to teams before they can see what their players can do. I can see a trade involving them going down soon."

Adding a young, potential all-star shoot guard would really put the finishing touches on the Trail Blazers young core. Zach, Telfair, Darius, and the shooting guard would be up there with the Phoenix Suns as one of the most exciting teams to watch.

News as it becomes avaliable.

Nice Start, should be interesting. (Y)

Just some advice, from one who had tried and erred once too many

- Resize your pics so that they are about 30 - 40 k in size, or else your pages will be hard to load, especially for 56k users... Imagecave is a good host to a achieve that (Y)

- Mention your opposition a bit more...

- Play Reef more than Zach... just trade Zach and his bloated contract away...

Hoe that helps!!!

Thu May 12, 2005 8:33 pm

they still look like the Jail Blazers to me

bring in some nice guys (Y)

Thu May 12, 2005 8:56 pm

Good start, and about the photos, put them into thumbs,so it will be even quicker to load your pages than just making the photos have less kb.

Thu May 12, 2005 11:57 pm

Thanks for all the advice guys. Newjersey, you think you could PM me instructions on how to thumb the photos? I'm still kinda new to all this stuff.

Thanks X and Weaver, and once I can get the smaller picture of the boxscore I will definitely post the other teams as well.

I should be playing a game tonight. Thanks again for the advice guys.

Pretty cool dynasty, I hope you can make the right trade and get what you want. I'd also like to see Portland go back to their powerhouse status, it should be fun :D

Fri May 13, 2005 9:46 am

Thanks for the comment Asdf. Here are the last 2 games. After I get this trade down, i'll definitely play a game. Here they are, thumbnails thanks to newjersey  :

Blazers win 2nd of the Season

Blazers
Image

Raptors
Image

Game Notes:
- Sebastian Telfair had the best game of his short career, with 14 points and 4 assists on 6-8 shooting.
-Zach continued his inconsistency this season finishing with a lousy 14/5 but he did have a career high 5 blocks.
-Ratliff came off the bench huge with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

-Chris Bosh had a decent 16 and 11, but the Raptors will need a lot more if they expect to make the playoffs.
-Eric Williams had a dominating 25 and 7 at the 4.
-Both Eric Williams and Rafer Alston shot 4-7 from 3 point land.

Trade Rumors:
Rumors are heating up as the Blazers and Suns have been talking about a deal for either Quetin Richardson or Joe Johnson, sources says its the latter, but we should see soon.

-Walker and Pierce combined for over 40 points and 20 rebounds and that was what killed the Blazers.
-Mark Blount scored 13 off the bench.

Blazers Make Trade, 1st of the New Season

Image

AP- Just hours ago, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Atlanta Hawks made the first trade of the new NBA season. The Hawk sent their 2005 1st round pick and Michael Stewart for Shareef Abdur-Rahim.

"We have a very deep bench, and we were looking to add some youth to the roster. So getting that first really does the trick, also Shareef had expressed interest in going back to ATL if he were to be traded." said Portland GM Jason. " I think it was a good trade for both teams, because Atlanta, if they don't want to keep Shareef, can just let him go and use that money else where, it also allows Al Harrington to move back to the SF position."

While the Blazers GM feels it was a fair trade, most feel that the Hawks got shafted. The 1st round pick could very well be a Top 5 draft choice. It all depends on Shareef and if he can guide the Hawks to the playoffs. Something he failed to do before.

Blazers Pull Another trade, 2nd of the season

Image

Blazers Trade:
Image Image Image

Hornets Trade:
Image Image Image

AP-Contrary to earlier reports, the Blazers went even younger than expected and traded for Prep-to-Pro JR Smith. Along with JR Smith the Blazers got the Slovenian Sharp Shooter, Bostjan Nachbar, and The BirdMan Chris Anderson. The Blazers meanwhile gave up Derek Anderson, Ruben Patterson, and the Athletic freak Travis Outlaw.

This trade really added to Portland's very young core consisting of; Zach Randolph, Darius Miles, JR Smith, Sebastian Telfair, and Viktor Khyrapa. And also 2 1st round draft picks in the 2005 draft, both could very well be lottery. The oldest one of that group is Zach Randolph at 23.

This is what the New Orleans General Manager had to say about the trade:

"We feel that adding very solid veterans in DA and Ruben was a very good move, since we already have Jamal and PJ who also have plenty of experience. Add Outlaw, Dickau, and Speedy to the mix, and I feel we can make the playoffs with this lineup."

And comments from the Blazers management:

"This trade was a no-brainer. Once we started negotiating the last details, we got very excited, because we not only now have one of the youngest groups of players in the NBA, but also one of the most exciting. JR Smith is a good outside shooter, which was what we were looking for at the 2, but he is also a great slasher, so he was the perfect fit."

Only time will tell who really got the better end of this deal.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Any comments on these last two trades? I think we'll probably miss the playoffs this year, but we will come back strong in 2006.

Here is my updated roster after these two trades:

Blazers Beat the Now 6-2 Grizzlies

Blazers:
Image

Memphis:

AP-Zach and newly acquired JR Smith both stepped up their games to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies, handing them just their second game of the season. Zach had 30 points and 5 rebounds, while JR filled out the stat sheet with 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Quite the debut, thats for sure. Gasol had a dominating game with 25 points and 15 rebounds, but his 5 TO's really cost his team the game. Mike Miller finished with 18 points and 10 assists.

Blazers Lose is Close Game

Blazers
Image

Milwaukee
Image

Portland, Oregon, November 17th-The Blazers lost. It's simple as that. They were in control the whole game, and then the 4th quarter came. The Blazers started the game 4-0 until NVE came into the game and score 9 points. Damon also started to hit his shots when Nick was feeling it. Darius Miles took over in the second quarter when Nick was out and Damon was ice cold. The Blazers had 7 point lead at halftime and here were the players at the half:
Image
In the third quarter, the Blazers caught fire and built a 15 point lead. With JR Smith coming back in because of early foul trouble, he hit a few 3's and help keep the momentum in Portland's favor. Throughout the 3rd quarter after the Blazers got up by 15, the team's traded baskets until the 1:30 mark. That was when Milwaukee decided to finally play some D and went on a 6-0 run to end the quarter and cut the lead to 9.
It all went downhill in the 4th. Darius tried to take control, he couldn't. Damon tried, he couldn't shoot the ball into the ocean. Nick, he was ice cold, and Smith couldn't do enough. Thanks to TJ Ford hitting a clutch 3, and some stupid end of the game fouls by Damon, the Blazers lost this one.

Plays of the Game:

Image
Zach Randolph took it down the lane and threw down this monsterous dunk.

Image
Darius showed the athleticisim that got him drafted on this fastbreak dunk.

Image
The Clincher. This one put them up by 3 with :27 left.

Great start man,I like the trades, they sure don't look like the jail blazers anymore (Y)

Fri May 13, 2005 10:01 pm

I like the Reef trade....you got rid of a headache, one that the Hawks would be happy to have back....you received back a probable Top 5 draft pick which is gold as well as the expiring contract of Yogi Stewart....luv that trade (Y)

2nd trade was basically getting a real high schooler in JR Smith, giving up a bum high schooler in Travis Outlaw, giving up headcases Anderson and especially Patterson and their contracts and getting back the Birdman and a scrub....not a bad trade, especially image-wise and remove the congestion at the SF position that was bothering Reef, Miles and Patterson (Y)

Fri May 13, 2005 10:56 pm

Yeah I love those trades, you doing really well for your first crack.

Very nicely set out.

Good Luck for your first season, I did my first Live 2005 Dynasty Thread with the BLazers, got to the playoffs but think I was knocked in the first round.

Keep it up (Y)

Sat May 14, 2005 12:32 am

Thanks for all the comments. I just have 1 question to ask you guys.

Should I trade Nick Van Exel or Damon? I'd like to get rid of one of them so Sebastian can get more playing time, and depending on our record after the ASB, he might even start. If I traded one of them I'd kinda of like to get an explosive scorer, or another post presence, because Ratliff is doing great on the defensive end, but he is just not cutting it on offense.

Sat May 14, 2005 12:39 am

trade the one with the least amount of years left on his deal....I'd like to see both go, but if you want to keep more with Blazers, keep Mighty Mouse....

but yep, definitely deal one of them....

Sat May 14, 2005 12:41 am

Thanks X, both of them expire after the season though, but Damon's contract is 15 mill. while Nicks is 11, so I'll trade Nick probably. I just don't know who for.

Blazers Sign Backup Center, Mccoy
Portland, Oregon-Today the Blazers announced in a press conference that they have signed 26 year old, back up center Jelani Mccoy.

Image-"I'm just glad to finally be on a team like the Blazers. They have a very nice mix of veterans, and exciting young players. I only signed a one year deal, but I hope to be here for longer."

Blazers Make 3rd Trade of Season, Get more Youth

Image

Blazers Trade:
Image Image

Knicks Trade:
Image Image

Portland, Oregon-In a suprise trade today, the Blazers and Knicks announced in a press conference that the they have made a trade. The trade sends former Blazers, newly signed Jelani Mccoy and Joel Przybilla to New York for 19 year old Trevor Ariza, and Bruno Sundov.

Isiah Thomas had this too say about the trade:

"We are trying to make a push for the playoffs, and we needed some reliable centers on the roster. We will definitely miss Trevor's passon, and his athleticism, but he wouldn't be able to get the playing time he deserves here. And Bruno Sundov....well he's Bruno Sundov."

The Trail Blazers GM said this:

"Again, this trade is all about youth. We get another young, athletic, exciting player in Ariza, while just giving up two centers, who barely got off the bench for us. Don't get me wrong, Joel and atleast from what I saw of Jelani are very good, cheap, young centers."

After this trade has been made, this pushes rookie Viktor Khryapa even further down the bench. If the Blazers make the most expected trade of the season involving either Van Exel or Damon, expect him to be packaged in that deal.

------------------------------------
Any comments on the trade? I'm definitely looking to trade Viktor and Nick now. And after that, I'm pretty much gonna be done trading.

Mavs

Game Notes:
-Theo Ratliff was 7 points off a career high. He finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
-Zach Randolph ended up with another double-double, tallying 11 points and 13 rebounds.

-Dirk finished with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and a career high 5 steals. He also chipped in 5 TO's to help the Blazers win the game.
-Everyone in the Mavericks starting lineup finished in double digit points. Dirk 14, KVH 12, Howard 14, Finley 11, and Terry 17.

Sat May 14, 2005 3:58 pm

whilst I don't like the practise of signing a free agent and dealing him, if I can look past that, the Knicks probably wouldn't deal Ariza unless he refused to sign....although they are always on the hunt for workmen-like bigmen like Joel Przybilla so not so bad....
