Total Basketball Manager: Orlando Magic Fast-Paced Dynasty

Wed Mar 30, 2005 11:59 pm

I'm going to start a new , not so analytical dynasty with the Orlando Magic, for when I'm getting stuffed with my main GS one.

I'm going to simulate all games, and intervene in one game per month playing the second half or the 4th quarter.

Sliders, settings, etc are the same as the GS dynasty ones...

Here goes:

Nice pick up in Bryce Drew, whenever you're gonna play some mintues, shoot some three's with him and tell me what you think. :)

I'm already familiar with using Bryce in NBA Live 05. If you're looking for a backup or third string PG/SG combo with a nice ouside touch, look no further, he's waiting for you to pick him up from the FA pool...

Too bad i'm going to be simming most games, I know he's fun to play with...

haha, couldn't help yourself with the Magic, then could ya?

very strong draft depth....should be good (Y)

a sim dynasty, interesting, will it have the staying power....most don't....I personally like playing 1, intervening 4th quarter in 1, and simming 1, and repeating the process....season goes by quicker, and you have to build a good cpu team....

good luck (Y)

Yep, since Micchy gave me the idea of doing parallel dynasties, and he didn't pick the Magic, I said what the heck and started one myself...

Too many 6' 1" SGs for my liking :x

I don't remebmer the last time I quit on sth, no matter how insignificant, so my bet is this is going to end after 25 seasons. Or is it 30? Even if nobody is interested by then

If I used the same process, I'd get fired from my job... No time for that.
As I said, it's all simmed except for one half or one quarter of a game per month. Maybe I'll participate in the AS Weekend as well. We'll see.

fair enough....yep, those 6'1" SG's drive me nuts too....hopefully they get it right in next season's Live....

How do you sim just part of quarters?

And where's the fun if you're not going to play?

I meant I intervene and play a 4th quarter each month.

And where's the fun if you're not going to play?

I'm playing each and every game in my GS dynasty. This one is more to test my mettle as a GM...

NOVEMBER 2004

MONTH RESULTS FOR THE MAGIC:

PLAYER STATS:

November started off nicely for the Magic, with 5 victories in the first 6 games, including wins over Western Conference powerhouses Dallas and Los Angeles Lakers. Grant Hill was the pleasant surprise for Orlando , averaging nearly 20ppg - 9rpg - 5 apg after almost 4 years of injury rehabilitation. His ankle seemed good and reliable, with Grant being less explosive but far more intelligent on the court, almost reaching his pre-injury numbers.

The rest of the month didn't go so smooth, with 4 losses in the final 5 contests, including a 30 point blowout defeat by the Celtics at TD Waterhouse Center on Nov 29th. Still, the 7 - 6 record Magic finished November with filled the team with hope for the future, as it was only a few months back that they were the not so proud owners of the worst record in the NBA.

One good thing about getting the worst record though was having a chance to land the no 1 pick in the 04 draft, in this case being straight out of highschool rookie Dwight Howard. Many people believed that the 6' 11" forward with the NBA-ready body would need some nurturing and extra time before he could fit in as a valuable piece of this team, but the youngster out of Atlanta has proven the doubters wrong with every second he spends on th ecourt. Dwight is aggresive, does not back down to no-one, and shows eagerness to learn and improve his game both on games and practices, and averaged 14.5 ppg - 9.2 rpg for the month. People are already mentioning that he is better than Amare Stoudemire was as a rookie, and that can only be a good thing.

Steve Francis was a questionmark after his numbers took a serious drop last year, but he also is proving doubters wrong. The Franchise averaged 19.5 ppg - 7.5 apg - 4.5 rpg in November and lead the team flawlessly from the PG position. Stevie seems more mature and rather willing to embrace a more pure approach to the position, trying to make his teammates better than boost his own scoring numbers.

Francis, Hill , and Howard seem to be the building blocks of the new Orlando Magic, and with the confident performances of Kelvin Cato and Tony Battie rotating at center, and Doug Christie's defensive brilliance, one can only expect a serious playoff drive by the Magic this season.
