The Team
Image

Image
Chauncey Billups
Chauncey, last years NBA Finals MVP is the fearless, ice in his veins, point guard who is not afraid to take the big shot on this team. He also in his time with Larry Brown has turned into a part of the coach on the court and with his deadly 3-point shot he has turned into a top 15 point guard in this league.

Image
Richard "Rip" Hamilton
Rip is the main scoring option on this team and is one of the best mid-range shooteres in the league. His scoring is very potent with his unlimited stamina he is running off countless screens and popping up a quick jumperls left andd right. He also is a great slasher and gets to the line a lot and is a good defender.

Image
Tayshaun Prince
Tayshaun is an up-and-coming player and future star in this league. He was a big part of the Championship run last year with his outside shooting and long arms of the law on defense. He will be expected to play his shutdown defense and score his points consistantly all year.

Image
Rasheed Wallace
In Rasheed's year with the Portland Trailblazers he got a bad name with his oncourt antics and garunteed Technical fouls but in his time with the Pistons he has cooled down a lot and has turned into a great post defender. He also has tamed down his 3-point trigger finger and has become a much more dominant post player.

Image
Ben Wallace
The 2-time Defesive player of the year and 2-time NBA Allstar is the Emotional leader of this Pistons Squad. He is the premier Post defender in the NBA and is one of the most agressivee and smart players in the league. On ofense Ben has improved a lot and now has a 15 foot jumper in his arsenal but he still gets the majority of his points off putbacks and offensive rebounds. Ben brings everything he has to every game he plays and is the top player on this team.

Raptors @ Pistons

PISTONS PREGAME

Image Hello everyone and welcome to your Pistons Pregame Show. Im George Blaha with my partner Bill Laimbeer.

Image Great night for basketball George.

Image Tonight we have a great matchup with the Toronto Raptors here to play the Pistons. Anyone on the Raptors that you think may give the Pistons problems?

Image Nope! I dont think anyone on the Raptors has an advantage on any Pistons players. Ben and Rasheed have the paint covered and the back court has those streaky guards of theirs tied up.

ImageAlright Bill now lets go to Lamb's Lowdown

ImageOk,
1. The Pistons need to shoot well. No slow starts.
2. "Block Bosh" they need toget Chris Bosh out of the game or his mobility and speed will hurt the Pistons.
3. Lastly, the Pistons must rebound!! The raptors may look small but those players can rebound so dont under estimate them.

Pistons raise banner, open with win

Image
Chauncey Billups and Ben Wallace celebrate a great win.

DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Pistons started the season with a low-scoring game called on WB20 Wednesday night, putting on a third quarter defensive clinic to pull away and win, 76-65 over the Toronto Raptors.

4 out of 5 Piston starters scored in double figures, and each of the 12 Pistons who played scored at least one basket.

"We couldn't throw a rock in the ocean to start but we finished strong and played great D," said a happy Chauncey Billups. Billups shut down opposing point gurd Rafer Alston, holding him to 13 points on 4-17 shooting.

"This is what I call playing the right way," said a smiling Piston coach Larry Brown. "We stopped three of their top players, and just did everything crisp and clean on offense."

Jalen Rose led the Raptors with 16 points. Morris Peterson also had 16, with Chris Bosh having a bad game scoring only 6, while Rafer Alston had 13.

For Detroit, Rip Hamilton had 16 points to pace the Pistons. Tayshaun Prince had a rough game, scoring 3 points on 1-8 shooting, Rasheed Wallace had 12, and Chauncey Billups scored 14 points and had 6 assists.

Ben Wallace started the season like just another day at work grabbing 13 rebounds to go with 12 points and 4 blocks.

PISTONS POSTGAME

ImageGeorge Blaha-A good way to start the season with your Detroit Pistons getting the easy win76-65. Now I thought the Pistons played well but they didn't score much early.

ImageBill Laimbeer-Yeah that was somthing I said in the pre-game. The Pistons didn't score and that hurt them in the 1st half.

ImageBen and Rasheed dominated the paint tonight and it showed with the Raptors front court, only scoring 13 points total. Now Bill how do you think the pistons did following your Lowdown?

Image
Well George they did most of it pretty well:
1. The Pistons need to shoot well. No slow starts.
They only scored 15 first quarter points and the Wallaces weren't involved.
2. "Block Bosh" they need toget Chris Bosh out of the game or his mobility
and speed will hurt the Pistons.
Ben did this perfectly. Chris Bosh had no rythm and three of Ben's block were on Bosh so thats a confidence killer. Good for the Pistons though.
3. Lastly, the Pistons must rebound!! The raptors may look small but those players can rebound so dont under estimate them.[/size]
Again, I thought this was a GREAT rebounding game and the pistons did what they needed and rebounded down the stretch.

Cavaliers @ Pistons

PISTONS PREGAME

Image Hello everyone and welcome to your Pistons Pregame Show. Im George Blaha with my partner Bill Laimbeer. Tonight the Pistons host LeBron James and the Clevland Cavaliers

Image How are you doing tonight George?

Image Good, this is a big game with LeBron James his Cavaliers playing the Pistons again in 2 days with this strange set of games the NBA has put together. But back to LeBron James do you think he will have a good game tonight?

Image Well LeBron doesn't really have a bad game. The games he doesn't score 20 plus points he'll have 8-10 assist and 9-10 rebounds to help his team. He also looks like an improved defender in the 2 games hes played.

Image What I've noticed about Clevland is that there size is very good with two great young post players in Drew Gooden and Zydrunas Ilguaskas.

ImageYeah those 2 guys with Traylor off the bench are very good scoring and on the boards but defensivly Ilguaskas is the only real post defender.

Image Ok Bill now lets go to Lamb's Lowdown

ImageA lot of big things tonight George,
1. The Pistons need to stop the Post. The Cavaliers run through Those post players and Lebron can't do everything.
2. "Frustrate McInnis" they need to force Jeff McInnis into mistakes. He cant have a good game passing or the cavs will run all over the Pistons..
3. Lastly, the Pistons must "Contain James" If they slow Lebron down this Cavs team will roll over and be open for the killing.

James, Cavaliers Win with Missed Buzzer Beater

Image
LeBron James scoring 2 of his 19 points

DETROIT (AP) - In a back and forth battle tonight, the Clevland Cavaliers ended up winning the game, 93-94.

It was obvious that Detroit's mind was not entirely on the game a sign of the championship hangover, with Ira Newble not known as a scorer dropping 14 points and 4 rebounds on Rip Hamilton in the 2nd half.

The Pistons looked down and out, at one point trailing 94-85 with time running out. But the Pistons had a chance to win with Rip Hamilton's pass to Rasheed Wallace with 2.8 secounds left but Wallace missed the hook shot at the buzzer.

"It hurts," said Chauncey Billups. "We thought we had this one in the books in the 3rd but we let it slip away."

But Clevlands LeBron James was impressive, scoring 19 points, and keeping Clevland in the lead. Hamilton had 18 points for Detroit, while Billups had 17 and Tayshaun Prince scored 15.

Ben Wallace had a good game on D with 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and 5 blocks.

Detroit's talented defense could not stop the Cav's front court who scored a combined 20 points and 19 rebounds. Jeff McInnis who scored 21 points, lead the Cavaliers to victory.

PISTONS POSTGAME

ImageGeorge Blaha-A tough loss to swallow for the Pistons losing a close one 93-94. Now I thought the Pistons played well but they couldn't play Defense in the 4th quarter.

ImageBill Laimbeer-Yeah, they weren't stopping the dribble penetration and the Cavs guards had a field day. The Pistons didn't score or defend and that hurt them in the 4th quarter.

ImageBen and Rasheed dominated defensivly with 9 blocks together but those Clevland bigs found a way around it, scoring 20 points and getting 19 total rebounds. Now Bill how do you think the Pistons did following your Lowdown?

Image
Well George this wasn't pretty:
1. The Pistons need to stop the Post. The Cavaliers run through Those post players and Lebron can't do everything.
Ben and Rasheed contained them but the Pistons team rebounding was horrible. Getting out-rebounded 46-32, many being offensive rebounds for the Cavs bigs.
2. "Frustrate McInnis" they need to force Jeff McInnis into mistakes. He cant have a good game passing or the cavs will run all over the Pistons.
Well, the Pistons shut down his passing game but he scored 21 and Eric Snow had 6 assists off the bench.
3. Lastly, the Pistons must "Contain James" If they slow Lebron down this Cavs team will roll over and be open for the killing.
19 points 4 rebounds and 5 assists is not what the pistons wanted but Tayshaun made him work for every basket.

This is the 3rd time I say this in th elast couple of days, but here goes.

I started out the 1st page of my dynasty with lots of pics, and had loading troublees even though I'm on ADSL. So if you want to keep your dynasty loadable and perhaps 56k friendly I would suggest not using the same multiple photos before/after each game.

You've made a good start, I like your dynasty format, keep it up (Y)

Wed Mar 23, 2005 12:11 pm

i quit using them in my dynasty because of that but its not for a game or two. because im reposting this it doesn't sound quite right without it right now.

Image I think the Pistons are going to want to win this one.

Image Yeah, this is a big game with the Cavaliers playing the Pistons again after a close win yesterday. But do you think the Pistons will come out fighting?

Image Yes, I think the pistons will come out wanting revenge on last nights loss. The game yeaterday LeBron didn't score 20 plus points or have 8-10 assist and 9-10 rebounds to help his team and the roleplayers on that team really stepped up.

Image What I liked yester day was Tayshaun. He had a complete game with 15pts 5rebs 5asts and did a heck of a job defending James.

ImageYeah he was big but not big enough.

Image Ok Bill now check out Lamb's Lowdown

ImageA lot of the same things tonight George,
1. The Pistons need to stop the Post. They have to do it again!
2. Rebound!!!! They need rebound because they were outrebounded by 6 yesterday and that can't happen again.
3. Lastly, the Pistons must "Contain James" They did slow Lebron down last game but this Cavs team stayed composed.

Pistons lose a tough one on No Call

Image
Chauncey Billups had 17 points and 9 assists but it wasn't enough as Detroit fell to Clevland 101-105

DETROIT (AP) - The Clevland Cavaliers are still a perfect 4-0. The Detroit Pistons are still trying to get win number 2.

Clevland (4-0) was led by G LeBron James and C Zydrunas Ilguaskas. James had 6 4th quarter points, while 8 of Ilguaskas's 11 came in the last period.

"I can't figure out what to tell them to do when we control the game until late then just throw it away," said coach Larry Brown, whose 1-2 Pistons were led by Rip Hamilton's 21 points. "We have to snap out of it."

Several Pistons did not comment after the game, but not Rasheed Wallace. Wallace scored 15 points and had 7 rebounds. Wallace was talking and looking very angry after a no-call on and contact filled 3 point shot with 30 secounds left that would have tied the game at 104.

"Damn Refs got to make the F**** Calls!! We cant do S*** with out them callin' a F*** foul when that team coulda won. Damn David (Stern) NBA gotta get some real Refs none a these F*** Dumb Ass, Crack heads!!!" said a visibly angery Wallace after the game.

The Pistons remain a team in disarray. They find themselves at 1-2, but the performances have not been shabby. Ben Wallace is TOTALLY shutting down opponents inside, adding 5 more blocks and 9 rebounds tonight. And Tayshaun Prince kept his solid pace going, adding 12 points and 2 blocks. Antonio McDyess had his best game as a Piston scoring 14 and grabbing 8 boards.

The Pistons probably should have won this gamewith the biggest lead being 12 by Detroit and there were many lead changes.

But yet again, the Pistons collapsed down the stretch.

This game can be put better in view with this simple quote from Darko Milicic "You win some, and you lose some thats how the game is."

PISTONS POSTGAME

ImageGeorge Blaha- Another tough loss for the Pistons falling to Clevland 101-105. Now, that no call at the end should have been a foul.

ImageBill Laimbeer-Yes, that was a horrible call by Joe Crawford who was standing right there. I think the NBA will call the pistons to say it was a bad call somtime this week after they review it.

ImageRasheed dominated those Clevland bigs scoring 15 and 7 rebunds but the defensive rebounding was again real bad and that was in your Lowdown.

Image
That and execution down the stretch were the only thing they didn't do tonight:
1. The Pistons need to stop the Post. They have to do it again!
A success just Ilguaskus had a BUNCH of put backs.
2. Rebound!!!! They need rebound because they were outrebounded by 6 yesterday and that can't happen again.
Failed bad. Ilguaskas had 10 4th quarter rebounds 7 of which were offensive.
3. Lastly, the Pistons must "Contain James" They did slow Lebron down last game but this Cavs team stayed composed.
So So, He had 21 points but not much else.

Pistons Dunk Celtics Minus Wallace

Image
A dejected Paul Piece after his Celtics were
murdered by the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.

BOSTON (AP) - The Detroit Pistons came to play tonight and the Boston Celtics were just overwhelmed.

Five Piston starters scored in double figures, and each starters had a steal or
Block. It was a Perfect game.

"We took hold of them i the 2nd and never let go," said a happy Chauncey Billups "It was a good win." Billups scored 17 points and had 7 assists on 7-10 shooting.

"This is what a champion should do every night," said Larry Brown. "We stopped everything they tried to do and they just gave up at half."

Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 18 points. Ricky Davis had 10, with Gary Payton also having 10 points but he also had 8 turn overs.

For Detroit, Antonio McDyess had 23 points and 6 rebounds to lead the Pistons. Tayshaun Prince had 10, Ben Wallace had 12 and 12 rebounds, and Darko Milicic scored 7 points and had 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.

The Pistons won this game despite missing 3rd leading scorer Rasheed Wallace who was suspended by the NBA on Tuesday for content he said in a postgame interview after a Pistons loss. Wallace will miss the next game against the Clippers.

PISTONS POSTGAME

ImageGeorge Blaha-A monster win for the pistons winning by 38. Now I thought the Pistons played great but they didn't start well again.

ImageBill Laimbeer-Yeah Boston took tonight off and the pistons killed them. Another thing is Dice is playing strong now and this is a good sign with his old knee problems, but they forced a lot of turnovers.

ImageAntonio dominated the paint tonight and it showed with 23 points 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Now Bill how do you think the Champs did following your Lowdown?

Image1. The Pistons need to stop Pierce. The Boston offense is Paul Pierce and they aren't much without him
He got his points but his team lost. Its a bad game.
2. "Watch out for role-players" they need to force Pieres into mistakes, but cant forget about Ricky Davis and Jiri Welsch.
They did this good with davis being the onr of the only players to score more than 5 points. His 10 points didn't matter.
3. Lastly, the Pistons must REBOUND. If they don't rebound tonight than I dont know what to think since Boston is the worst rebounding team in the NBA
35 to 31......Its ok but it could be better.

Hamilton the Hero as Detroit wins 3rd Straight

Image
Larry Brown Watching Rip Hamilton's Game Winner Wednesday

Los Angeles (AP) - Rasheed Wallace is not playing but the Pistons still are winning.

Pistons came through on a last secound 18 foot jumper as time expired and won in LA vs the Clippers 67-65 to extend their winning streak to 2.

The Pistons (3-2) had suffered several close losses, but came through against the Clippers.

Ben Wallace dominated the boards, hauling down 15 rebounds and blocking 3 shots. His sudden explosion has established himself as a surprising early MVP candidate.

"I just get inside and play big," said Ben.

Antonio, meanwhile, had 4 fouls in the middle of the 3rd and played only 16 minutes, scoring 6 points.

"I had a bad game but Rip stepped up bigger than normal," said McDyess after the game.

Rip Hamilton played some serious minutes, with Rasheed's scoring not in the lineup. Rip Hamilton scored 26 points a season best and grabbed 6 rebounds while scoring the big jumper at the buzzer. "My shot was feeling good all game and it just was a great game for the fans and us." hamilton said after the game. Backcourt counterpart Chauncey Billups had only 6 points but they were big shots including a three with 27 secounds left to tie the game.

It was a defensive struggle, seeing only a combined 132 points...Total.

"It was our defense at work again," said Pistons coach Larry Brown. "This is what we did last year, and we finally did it again tonight. Scoring is were we should improve now."

The Pistons now head home to the Palace to face the NBA MVP of 2 years ago, Tim Duncan, and the San Antonio Spurs. Duncan and Ben will go head to head in the paint with Rasheed coming back from suspension. Look for a great matchup Tomorrow.

PISTONS POSTGAME

ImageGeorge Blaha-A nail-biting win for the Pistons winning by 2 over the LA Clippers. Now I thought the Pistons played great but they didn't start well again. Is this because on no Rasheed or what?

ImageBill Laimbeer- Good shot by Rip but the scoring is a problem but with Rasheed back and the emergence of Dyce inside it will get better.

ImageBen dominated the Boards tonight, does this start to solve the rebounding problems?

Image They will rebound better and Rip had 6 so thats good.
1. The Pistons need to "Beat Brand". The Clippers D is Brand and they are nothing without him
He got his points and rebounds. Solid game. He shut down Ben too but who got the win?
2. "Watch out for Magette" they need to stop their leading scorer.
They didn't do this but he worked for those points.
3. Lastly, the Pistons must REBOUND......again.
15 for Ben? Great!

Big 3rd Quarter Lifts Pistons over Spurs

Image
Rasheed wallace played great in his 1st game back from suspension

Detroit (AP) - Tim Duncan expected a big task trying to play against the Pistons with a minor sprained ankle. He did ok, but his team fell apart in the 4th.

A strong offensive attack, led by Rasheed Wallace, and tough defense were too much for San Antonio as the Pistons won, 98-93.

Wallace shot a little more than 50%, he had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 blocks, a solid night all-around and very big in the 4th. All 5 Piston starters were in double figures, as always, Ben Wallace had a strong game on defense but was a suprise on offense. Ben had 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks.

"I loved watching Ben out there," said coach Larry Brown. "It was great watching the top defensive player out there shutting down the games best Power Forward."

The defense was like last season, and the offense was very strong as well. Every thing is clicking on offense and all the players are comfortable on the court.

Well, either way, Duncan had 11 points and 9 rebounds on that bum ankle, but Piston fans will only remember Ben Wallace rejecting him. Manu Ginobili had 18 points, and that was the only blotch in the Piston win.

PISTONS POSTGAME

ImageGeorge Blaha-A solid win for the Pistons winning by 5 over the San Antonio Spurs. Rasheed returned tonight from suspension and was the big reaso the Pistons won this game. Could this be the Rasheed we see every game?

ImageBill Laimbeer- Good game, but the Rasheed we saw tonight was a bit under-matched the Duncan tonight was half strength and not very agressive but Rasheed could do better than he was doing.

ImageBen dominated the Boards again tonight, and the defense is clicking so what else do the Pistons need to do better?

Image If they can score better and Rip can score 20 a night we're good. I had scoring in my Low Down..
1. The Pistons need to "Push Around Parker." Parker has the keys to the car in San Antonio and if you make him turn it over or play physical defense on him hes not too good.
Chauncey, Lindsay and Carlos all played good D on him and he shot 26% from the field and that wont cut it
2. "GINOBILI" they're sneaky, slashing scorer or he will go off.
They didn't do this but we won.
3. Lastly, the Pistons must Defend. The Spurs are the other top Defensive team in the league but they can score with the best of them too
The Spurs scored but they were a solid Tim Duncan and 5 points shy of a win.

PISTONS PREGAME

Image Hello everyone and welcome to your Pistons Pregame Show. Im George Blaha with my partner Bill Laimbeer. Tonight the Pistons are in Utah to face the Jazz.

Image The Return of Memo.

Image Yes tonight is the first game the Pistons have played with Memo in it since the NBA Finals.

Image I think he will try to have a good game versus his former team seeing as they let him go in the offseason.

Image The Jazz may only have 2 wins this year but they still have one of the best all around players in the game Andrei Kirilenko.

ImageYeah he's THE best defensive small forward in the league and he can block shots and steal the ball as good as anyone.

Image Ok Bill now lets take a look at "Lamb's Lowdown."

Image This game should be easy......
1. The Pistons need to defend. The Jazz are one of the worst scoring teams in the league and if you shut them down, Game Over.
2. "Shoot Smart" 2 nights ago the Jazz blocked 14 shots as a team so watch out.
3. Lastly, the Pistons must Un-Arm Andrei. If he isnt contained he could put up stats in a hurry. Once in a game last year he had 12 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals, and 5 blocks! Thats a 5x5 so dont let it happen.

Billups' 36 Points Carries Pistons

Image
Chauncey Billups after making 1 of his 4 Three-Pointers

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - In a suprisingly good game tonight, the Detroit Pistons beat the Utah Jazz, 93-92.

It was obvious that Detroit came to Utah wanting a win and the big reason for the win was point guard Chauncey Billups.

"36, wow man i didn't know I scored that many!" said a happy Chauncey Billups. "We thought this game would be tough because Utah is really talented all around, but we pulled it out ."

Pistons coach Larry Brown also talked about Chauncey's big night, "He played great had thirty-somthing points and 7 assists only 2 turnovers. I liked it."

The Pistons looked like they had this game done with 4.0 secounds left but Carlos Boozer threw a cross cout pass to Gordan Giricek who was fouled in the act of shooting by Rip Hamilton.

Giricek was at the line and made the 1st free throw but missed the secound on purpose and Ben Wallace gobbled up the rebound. Hamilton had 17 points for Detroit, while Rasheed Wallace had 16 and Tayshaun Prince scored 9.

Ben Wallace had a great game with 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Detroit's talented defense could not stop the Utah star player Andrei Kirilenko who had 15 points and 6 rebounds.

PISTONS POSTGAME

ImageGeorge Blaha-A good win for the Pistons 92-93. Now I thought the Pistons played well all game, why was it so close?

ImageBill Laimbeer-I thimk it was boozer and Okur getting all those rebounds. They didn't score much but each guy had a good game down low on the boards.

ImageBen dominated defensivly with 15 rebounds but those Utah swingman found ways around it, scoring and passing at will. Now Bill how do you think the Pistons did following your Lowdown?

Image
Well George, the pistons were caught off guard by Kieth McLeod but this was pretty good:
1. The Pistons need to defend. The Jazz are one of the worst scoring teams in the league and if you shut them down, Game Over.
They scored 90 but they were tired in the 4th and couldn't shoot.
2. "Shoot Smart" 2 nights ago the Jazz blocked 14 shots as a team so watch out.
Chauncey had 36 points, that tied his career high so he shot well and that took pressure off everyone else to shoot well and the whole team looked very comfortable out there.
He did everything to keep them in the game but Chauncey's shooting was too much for the Jazz.

ESPN the Magazine Ranks Organization Highest
in Annual Ultimate Standings Poll

The World Champs Are Number One...Again

AUBURN HILLS (AP) - The Detroit Pistons are Number One...again. This time, ESPN The Magazine has recognized the defending World Champs as the Number One major league (NBA, NFL and MLB) sports franchise in its annual Ultimate Standings Rankings for 2005.

The Rankings included 92 teams. Teams in the NHL were not included in the listing based upon the league's suspended 2004-05 season.

In 2005, the Pistons were cited for likeability of players, coaches and ownership. The team was also credited for "a brilliant marketing campaign called 'Goin' to Work. Every Night.'" Team promotions and contests were identified as the best in all of sports.

The Pistons moved into the top spot after being ranked Number Four in 2004. In 2003, the first year of the Ultimate Standings, the Pistons were ranked Number 13.

Fans from around the country ranked teams, via voting on ESPN.com, based upon seven specific criteria. In an eighth category, "Bang for the Buck" which examined wins in the past three years divided by revenues received directly from fans, ranking was calculated by Warsaw Sports Marketing Center at the University of Oregon.

"It is a tremendous honor to be ranked number one," said Tom Wilson, CEO of the Pistons. "Winning the world championship last year was really about what happened on the court - our players and coaches deserve all the credit for that. This ranking from ESPN, because the categories reflect so many areas of our organization, from the experience at The Palace to the access to players and coaches to our ownership, is really something that the entire organization can take credit for. We have always said that what we do is based upon a partnership between our players, our coaches, our staff and our fans. The Ranking affirms the fact that the 'partners', through hard work, sacrifice and dedication, all contribute to the overall success."

The Annual Franchise Rankings were based on eight criteria: Bang for the Buck (wins in past three years divided by revenues directly from fans), Ownership (honesty and loyalty to players and city), Stadium Experience (friendliness of environment, quality of game day promotions), Coach/Manager (strong off-field leadership), Fan Relations (ease of access to players, coaches, management), Affordability (price of tickets, parking, concessions), Players (effort on the field, likeability off it) and Winning (championship or competitive teams and prospects for future).

Of the 92 major league teams in the Rankings, the Pistons were No. 1 in Bang for the Buck, No. 4 in Winning, No. 5 in Ownership, No. 6 in Coach/Manager and No. 9 in Players. The Pistons were also praised for "doing what it takes to build value over the long haul."

"The fans have spoken and what they have said is the Detroit Pistons work hard to affect our experience in a good way," said Wilson. "The people of Detroit appreciate that kind of effort. It's really what 'Goin' to Work' is all about."

For the third consecutive season the Pistons lead the NBA in attendance, averaging 22,076 (capacity) fans per game. They are currently riding a sell-out streak of 58 home games that includes 32 games last year (12 straight in the 2004 Playoffs) and all 26 of the regular season games this year.

Pistons Get Hawked in Atlanta

Image
Mike Woodson got the dominant win over his former team.

ATLANTA (AP) - The few Pistons fans errr... fans that were in Atlanta for Thursday night's game against the Hawks were silent after the game. They sat in mute shock and stared at nothing in particular. And the thoughts going through their mind?

"Why would we lose? How could we? I know we should have won. I can't believe this."

And they had a right to think that. The Detroit Pistons had been rolling to 3 straight wins coming in.

"We played bad," said a subdued Rip Hamilton, who scored 13 points. "Thats all there is to say. We shouldn't have lost tonight."

Childress and Tony Delk owned the perimeter all night for the Hawks, despite the efforts of Tayshaun and Rip. Their 32 points led the Hawks, and they shut down the pistons guards.

But looking at the numbers, the outcome isnt shocking. Rip Hamilton scored just 13 points. Tayshaun Prince had only 4. Rasheed had 9, along with the surprisingly offensive-minded Ben Wallace scoring 13. Chauncey Billups had 16 points and 5 assists on 4-15 shooting.

Looking at these numbers, one would think that the Pistons were right in the game since we are talking about the Hawks.

But then check their stats.

Walker - 11 points. Childress - 15 2-4 from down town. Harrington - 33 points, 7-17 from the field. Lue and Delk - 17 each . Offense simply dominated.

Not even Larry Brown had anything to say that is worth printing.

The Pistons now drop to a disappointing 5-3

And yes, these are the NBA Champions. As they say, "The higher the pedestal, the harder the fall." But the Pistons won't admit they've fallen.

Only time will tell, and time we all hope it will say no.

Pistons Cruise Againt Philly

Image
Ben Wallace leads the break Thursday against the 76ers.

DETROIT (AP) - Rip Hamilton torched the 76er's in Detroit's 112-89 win.

Hamilton scored 34 in a huge game for him, and the 76ers could not respond.

"It was fun out there," said Hamilton, who shot 16-21 from the field. "I just was feeling it."

The Pistons showed signs of the team of last week who won 3 straight by an average of 18 ppg. It looked like the momentum had shifted at halftime, just after Allen Iverson hit a halfcourt prayer to go in to half and give Philly a 2 point lead.

"This was a great secound half effort." said Piston coach Larry Brown. "We really should have stayed ahead in this game, but we recovered well in the 2nd half and won." Brown is now 3-2 against his former team.

Rasheed Wallace led the Wallaces with 15 points, with Tayshaun scoring 16. Ben Wallace got in on the fun, with 8 points and 11 rebounds, just short of a double-double. For Philidelphia Allen Iverson had 24 points, Andre Igoudala had 10, Kyle Korver had 11 and Willie Green had 15 off the bench.

The status of the Pistons bench swingman remains in limbo, but several teams are reportedly beeing talked to including Memphis, Houston, Los Angelas and Seattle.
