A Work In Progress - Rebuilding The Raptors

Fri Mar 18, 2005 5:25 am

Alright everyone. I just got the game yesterday and i've been reading all these killer dynasty stories and I figured.. Hey, why can't I do that? So here we go.

My Goal: To make the Toronto Raptors contenders for the 2005-2006 season.

How I'm Gonna Do It: I won't be playing every game the first season but I'll be playing several a month to get a feel for who can help me and who should be sent packing.

Now, if you all could help me out abit, tell me what you think of these two trades..

1. Morris Peterson to Detroit for Darko Milicic and a 2nd rounder.

2. Deon Glover And Detroit's 2nd rounder to Golden State for Mickael Pietrus.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Any other trade ideas? :?:

hi, first of all Welcome to the Forum...

hmm,..
here some suggestion:
1. are you on PC? then try downloading Andrew's Updated roster patch so you have accurate rating of all players and team...
2. about the trade...
well the darko trade seem even in live but a one-lopsided in real life.
we knew Darko will never be traded and if ever not on mo pete plus you also got a 2nd rounder...
teh 2nd trade well, i think its okey...

lastly
GOOD LUCK on your dynasty!!!

Thanks for the welcome.

I don't have Live for the PC, just the Ps2. I updated all the rosters as best I could before the start of the franchise unfortunately I have no way of updating players overalls.

I have also pulled off both of those trades. I will be posting again very soon with the players on my starting lineup and on the bench.

The Starting Lineup For The Toronto Raptors: 2004-2005.

The Starting Center
Image[size=18Darko Milicic: Darko will be expected to produce more so on the defensive end then the offensive end. His starting job was earned through some solid defensive gains in training camp.

Power Forward
ImageChris Bosh:[i]Bosh's right now is easier said than done, produce at both ends night in and night out. Bosh may be the best defensive player for the Raptors and their only true inside threat.

Small Forward
ImageDonyell Marshall:Donyell's outside shooting is deadly enough to make him the teams main option on offense (for now). His overall value could make him trade bait to a contender though...

Shooting Guard
ImageJalen Rose: [i]Rose is the teams jack of all trades, bringing a solid defensive game to an all around offensive game. He should provide some leadership for the young Raptors.

Point Guard
Image[i]Rafer Alston:[i] Alston is the teams playmaker. He will be relied on to dish the ball and create off the dribble. He should prove to be one of the cornerstones of this dynasty.

The Bench:
SF/PF: Lamond Murray - Murray will provide relief at the 3 spot for Donyell Marshall. Murray's shot makes him a solid backup though he doesn't seem to do much more...

SG: Mickael Pietrus - A sharpshooter who is being groomed to eventually replace Rose at shooting guard. Should be a nice a three point threat off the bench.

C: Rafael Araujo - A strong bull-like player who plays very solid defense but with a limited offensive game.

PG: Alvin Williams - Williams is a jack of all trades off the bench though he doesn't pass well enough to warrant much playing time at the point.

PF: Aaron Williams - Role player who rebounds well enough to get some minutes at power forward.

SF: Eric Williams - A player who doesn't do anything really flashy, a gritty third option at small forward.

SG: Mason Jr. - On the bench incase someone suffers an injury or gets into foul trouble.

C (IR): Loren Woods - Solid backup center who could be put on the active roster at any time.

PG (IR): Milt Palacia - Injury insurance.

SF (IR): Something Curry - Who? :?:

P.S. I Know this won't come out looking right but please bear with me while I master this board.

Toronto has some good parts to play with.

Darko isn't really a center. He's quick, can dribble, pass, and shoot the 3, none of which you'll be doing with a center. He's poor at blocking shots and dunking. Darko will get better but even when he matures he'll be playing SF or PF. If we're lucky, he'll end up resembling Dirk one day.

I've always liked Yell since college, and he's got excellent all-around stats in this game. Bosh is awesome, as everyone knows. Skip2myLou is a great PG, he's excellent at the penetrate & dish.

As much as i like Jalen, his biggest problem is his salary. He makes almost as much as Kobe Bryant, and he's not. I would trade Jalen away. With that $14M you can do a lot with your team. I also remembered Alvin's contract being too high for my liking.

bringing a solid defensive game

Hehe... Jalen Rose a solid defender.....

Anyway, good start, I'm looking foward to reading other Raptor dynasties.

My first game report will be coming in tomorrow when I get time to play.

I do agree. Rose's salary is way too high. I know a trade that works everytime to get rid of him though and get an expiring contract for salary cap space. Trade Rose to Portland for Nick Van Exel and someone like Sebastien Telfair. It frees up 11 million at seasons end.
