A Mess in the Meadowlands -- A New Jersey Nets Dynasty

Before I start anything I want to let everybody know that I don't have the game yet and I do not know when I will get it but I have seen so many great dynasties and I just needed to write something.

Anyways I guess by now you know this is a New Jersey Nets dynasty. I want to let everybody know that I try to keep it realistic in terms of trades and everything else.

I'm sure some of you have seen my 2004 Nets dynasty that I ended a long time ago because I started a Madden 2005 dynasty. But I had some technical difficulties with that so it ended up not interfering that much. Anyway here is some information about my dynasty:

Dynasty Information:

- 10 minute quarters
- All-Star / Superstar
- I will make an attempt at configuring my own sliders once I do a little testing in game.

In terms of rosters I will continue to use the roster continuing on from my NBA Live 2004 Dynasty with some slight alterations.

New Jersey Nets 2004-2005 Roster

I have an extra roster spot that I will probably use early on to sign the best player I can get for 1 year for the cheapest amount. Unless the PC version includes another player from the Nets roster that they recently signed.

Coaching - Strategy: Lawrence Frank is a master of detail. Frank might overload his players with data and hypothetical situations, but no one ever complains about a lack of preperation.

Frank wants to play a style that best utilizes his teams strengths. He has Kidd, so the Nets push the ball. He has athletes so they trap and scramble. Frank does not rely on any one system, if it doesn't work in the first half he will scrap it for something new in the second.

Style: Lawrence Frank uses anything possible to motivate and prepare his team. But don't let his small size fool you, Frank is fiery on the sideline, where he stomps, yells, points and directs--So much that he proved to be an annoyance to Larry Brown in the playoffs.

But Frank's biggest strength is that he has won over the confidence of all his players. All the players repeatedly praise Frank's work ethics and are amused at how you usually takes lessons from History and applies it to an NBA game. Grade: A-

Unit Analysis - Guards: If Kidd's left knee withstands surgery, the Nets will compete for the playoffs. Kidd has lifted dead teams before. When he is right, there is simply no better point guard in the league. It's not even close. Yes, his shot is shaky. But no one directs a fast break better and no sees the court and makes such quick decisions as Kidd and defensively it doesn't get any better.

Kidd now has two new running mates to work with, a tandem of Mercer and Buford. Both are offensive sorts, and Mercer brings strengths Kerry Kittles lacked, but neither is even close to Kittles defensively.

Fighting for the backup point guard role are Travis Best, Jacque Vaughn and Zoran Planinic. Best may end up starting if Kidd can't play through his surgery, but Planinc and Vaughn will both have to work extremly hard to get playing time whether Kidd is playing or not. Grade: B-

Forwards: Jefferson, the scintillating and athletic small forward will be called to do more than ever. When Martin and Kidd were injured late last season, Jefferson showed impressive versatiltiy and that he can score on his own. He's a terrific finisher, a capable passer, a great wingman for Kidd and plays strong defense.

Playing behind Jefferson will be Eric Williams. A sound defender, Williams should add some depth behind Jefferson after coming off a decent year with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Although he has 3-point range, he is a suspect shooter.

Aaron Williams will likely be the starter at the power forward position after coming off the bench for Jason Collins the past few years. He's a solid rebounder and a competent jump shooter. Defenses insist on giving him open 15-footers which he gladly takes. Williams is also the best shot blocker the Nets have at this time after the departure of Martin.

Scalabrine and rookie Nenad Krstic, who may also get minutes at center, will be backing up Williams at the power forward position. Scalabrine showed signs of life in the playoffs when he scored 16 points in three overtimes going 4-4 from downtown in a playoff game against the Pistons.Grade: C+

Centers: The Nets have one of the smarter centers in the league in Jason Collins. Collins does the little things that don't show up in the box score. His game has never been about the numbers but rather the hard work and skills he puts into the game.

The Nets hope that Alonzo Mourning makes a full recovery from a Kidney transplant he recieved not long ago. If he can become a solid backup for Collins he may eventually get the starting job once he shows he is fully healthy.

Rookie Kyle Davis will have to wait his turn to get some minutes, but if Mourning goes down again he may get a bigger role than expected. Grade: C

Bottom Line Rebounding is suspect. Kidd's recovery from knee surgery is questionable. The defense suffered a disastrous hit. Morale is nonexistent. With a proposed move to Brooklyn in 2008, the Nets might play in crowds that are sparse. And yet the Nets are still a divisional contender--Miami is no longer in their division, but they are no longer championship contenders.

Scout's View Lawrence Frank may have gotten this job because he was in the right place at the right time, but this guy can really coach. A good coach is a guy who can get his players to do what he wants...and Frank does that. Jason Collins is a really solid Player. I think he's really underapreciated in this league. Jason Kidd was really hurting at the end of the season, but once he's healthy he'll resume his spot as the league's best point guard. I like Zoran Planinc but I heard he struggled during the summer and lost some confidence. Richard Jefferson became their go-to player last season, and now, he is their only go-to player. This will be the year we will see whether Jefferson is really what we think he is.

I don't know how he will play yet. I mentioned earlier if he performs and looks like he can take some beatings in he post I may start him.

Thanks for all your comments, although I have some bad news. I don't think I'll be getting the game sooner than my birthday which is November 24, however I might have a party earlier than that so I guess I'll be getting it somewhere late November.
