Bynum for Marc Gasol?

Image

Once they were traded for each other. Now it might be time for them to play together.

Pau and Marc Gasol obviously know how to coexist on the same team. Last time I checked, that Spanish National thing has kinda worked out with those two.

In fact, whereas Marc used to be the afterthought, he's since turned into the bigger, tougher, more fiery version of the duo. Don't you think Pau would follow his little brother's example if he knew they had each other's back again?

The real kicker in this deal is the long-term point guard solution provided for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Memphis Grizzlies would find a lot to like too: flanking Andrew Bynum with Zach Randolph and Rudy Gay would create an even more frightening front line than they already possess.

Los Angeles and Memphis have swapped big men before, and that seemed to work out well enough for everybody, didn't it?

Mitch Kupchak swaping busts for MWP and Barnes?

Image

There are some roumors that Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak might be trading two busts, Hasheem Thabeet and Jonny Flynn, and a vet, Kurt Thomas, for Metta World Peace, Matt Barnes and Steve Blake. This is intriguing deal as this is an update for Lakers in PG spot, but Flynn would operate in third unit and Thabeet would be spending some big minutes ON the court, unlike in his past teams. Thabeet would bring inside presence that Bynum was giving Lakers, plus he is 7'3 263 pounds Center. But this leaves Lakers with only Ebanks as their only Small Forward. Mitch Kupchak was making some strange decisions that worked out in the past, could this be one of them? He just has to pull the trigger and we'll, probably, see another good decision by Mitch.

Dahntay Jones seeks trade?

Image

Pacers Small Forward Dahntay Jones has reportedly asked the Indiana Pacers for a trade, according to the AJC. This is shocking considering that Dahntay didn't play as much as he might've liked, and his name tossed in trade rumors. After playing 23 minutes per game, Pacers management decided he isn't adequate player for 6th man. And has became frustrated. His frustration with management apparently hasn’t worn off.

Dahntay is great perimeter defender and a very athletic SF, a poor man's Shawn Marion. He might not be 20-10 guy Marion was back in his prime, but Jones is 30 and ready to play big minutes for big club. Lakers anyone?

According to people I’ve talked to, Dahntay and his agent feel that he will never get the attention he seeks playing under the coach Frank Vogel. They feel that both Jones and the organization need a change.

Kobe Bryant defeats OKC in Historic game

Image

Season opener provided with most probably the best game we will see this season.. That is if Kobe doesn't decide he breaks Wilt's 100 point game... This game was a true thriller. Lead has changed 24 times and the game was tied 21 time. Durant was on fire, contributing with double-double, 37 points and 11 assists, shooting 15-30. If you think that that is great stat sheet, you're wrong because Durant's counterpart on Lakers squad, Kobe, scored 84 POINTS while shooting 27-44 from the filed and 8-15 behind the arc. Kobe was on from the begginning, even though he missed the game-winner with 0.3 left when the result was 120-120.

Image

The game went to overtime and Kobe took the matter in his own hands managing to score 23 points in just 5 minutes. Maybe it's not time to pass the torch on to Durant and/or LeBron. They said Kobe is old, Kobe is not athletic, Kobe is not THE man anymore.. Kobe, once again, proved them wrong with almost-a-triple-double, 84 points, 9 assists and 9 rebounds.

Image

This game also featured first game two Spaniard brothers, Gasol brothers, played together. Marc was underachieving, we might say while Pau was anything but underachiever with 21 points and 12 rebounds, he also managed to get 5 assists. Marc had 16 points and ZERO rebounds.. Yes, zero. The other newcomers to purple and gold uniform were Conley, who was in foul trouble for entire game playing only 20 minutes, not good Mike, Hasheem Thabeet who proved to be what was expected from him from the very begginning when he was drafted with 5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks in only 14 minutes. Flynn played only 8 minutes, 4 of those in the overtime, and managed to get 3 assists.

Lakers best players stats:

Kobe Bryant - 84 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 steals, 27-44 from the field, 61% FG
Pau Gasol - 21 point, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 9-18 from the field, 50%FG

Thunder best players stats:

Kevin Durant - 37 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 15-30 from the field, 50%FG
Russell Westbrook - 29 points, 8 assists, 11 turnovers, 12-23 from the field, 52%FG

About 10 trades is unrealistic!! Cool story though, was planning one like this myself. But with only 1 big trade.

I did 3 trades. And yeah, it's time for Lakers to make some huge improvements in the roster so I decided I might do that in 2k12. Thanks anyway. :) More tomorrow.

I dislike his game(altough his behind the back spin buzzer beater was awesome). I rather have Ebanks, Hill and Thabeet instead McRoberts.

Interesting to see both Gasol in one team, i also think you made an upgrade with Conley.

I don't mind any of the moves you've made, and they're all good and fair ones, as long as you basically stay pat with this roster for the rest of the season. Graphics are amazing, and normally I wouldn't be interested in a Lakers story, but you've caught my interest with the twin towers that is the Gasol brothers and also Dahntay Jones. (Y) Also Thabeet has some big upside. (Y)

Thanks. I think that I'm better off with Gasol brothers than with Bynum who is now in Memphis with a big 3, Rudy, Randolph and himself. He is an upgrade, he can defend well, better passer and shooter.

Thanks dan. I tried to make my moves as realistic as possible while gaining the most I can. I'm going to stay put with this current roster, not going to bring any player. Dahntay Jones is a great hustle player and an upgrade from Barnes/Artest duo. Thabeet is putting up big numbers in his limited time. I absolutely LOVE his game. 7'4 center with great athleticism, and most importantly great defender. Anyway, today is going another game recap. I've had trouble finishing my second game vs Warriors since my PC kept turning off at the end of second quarter.

Spaniard brothers help Lakers go 2-0 v Warriors

Image

After bad Game 1 v Thunder Marc Gasol took critics to his heart and proved why was he traded for passionless Bynum. He scored 21 point, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block. His older brother, game MVP, scored 31 points, while shooting 15-19, and grabbed 8 rebounds. Second best Laker was Kobe who scored 29 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 6 assists. However he score 21 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and had 6 assist by halftime. He then decided it is the best for the team to let the brothers take over the game.

Image

Lakers had monster lead 74-52 at the halftime and then players started to relax. Maybe that's Mike Brown's fault because it appears that he doesn't have respect as 'The Zen Master' Phil Jackson had. Warriors even came to 4 points deficit but then Bryant started yelling at his teammates like a real captain of the team. At the end The Black Mamba sealed the game with his two free throws after being intentionally fouled.

Lakers best players stats:
Pau Gasol - 31 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block, 15-19 from the field, 79% FG
Kobe Bryant - 29 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 8-20 from the field, 40% FG

Warriors best players stats:
David Lee - 25 points, 17 rebounds, 12-18 from the field, 66 % FG
Stephen Curry - 25 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 10-23 from the field, 43.5 % FG

*this one is little shorter because I was extremely frustrated with this game, sorry lads.

Kobe led Lakers to another win in OT, furious with his coach

Image

Lakers won another game and now they are 3-0. But it was a close game since Lakers won it 130-128 as Kobe score a game-winning 3 pointer over Shannon Brown. Lakers were losing all game long, sometimes it was 20 points deficit for the Laker players. Kobe was turrible in the first quarter shooting only 1-8 and he scored only 7 points, but he did had 3 assists. He decided to let it go to Gasol brothers as he felt his game was a little off and tried to be facilitator instead of scorer. At timeout in third quarter Kobe embraced the role of the coach and said to Brown to ''put his ass down''. Brown was sitting troghout the rest of the game and Kobe was calling the plays and everything that Mike Brown was supposed to do.

Image

Since then Kobe was on fire and scored 60 points in second half plus in overtime. He did made 5 more assists and made 7 rebounds. He was shooting, only in second half, 25-38 from the field making 66 % FG. Gasol brothers were also great at the offensive end. Combined they scored 51 point and grabbed(only) 12 rebounds. Following Kobe's scoring rampage in second half, their first lead was in 4th quarter with 4:51 left on the clock. On the Suns, Nash was playing like he was 28, not 38. He scored 30 points and had 15 assists. But he did miss a tying fadeaway with 1.3 seconds to go in overtime. Grant Hill and Marcin Gortat had double-double. Hill had 27 points and 10 rebounds while Gortat had 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Lakers best players stats:
Kobe Bryant - 67 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assist, 26-46 from the field, 56% FG
Pau Gasol - 37 points, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, 16-22 from the field, 73% FG

Suns best players stats:
Steve Nash - 30 points, 15 assists, 12-24 from the field, 50% FG
Grant Hill - 27 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 11-18 from the field, 61% FG

Kobe, Wade players of the first week

Image

Two best Shooting Guards are selected as best players for the opening week in the NBA. Kobe was averaging 60 points, 8 rebounds and 7.7 assists. This just might be his best week ever. If he continues to crash the boards and distribute the ball as he is now he might have his second MVP at the age of 33 with 50 000+ minutes of basketball in his knees. In the East Dwayne Wade was dominating the game with 30 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists. These are also MVP-like numbers. It looks like this season will be the battle of two superstars even though it looked like Kobe was declining and Wade took the role of the sidekick for LeBron.
