Sonics 07-08 [1-1] Sonics top Magic, Ray Allen Injured

Until I can figure out how to sim a season and then make the correct playoff seedings (and draft order.) I won't start the dynasty yet, but I'll make some of the story.

Sonics Hire New GM
The Seattle Supersonics added Jordan Leung to their front office in an attempt to help the struggling franchise. Jordan will also be the new head coach of the Sonics.

Jordan has no history of doing anything related to the NBA except for being a fan. He is not even a Sonics fan. "I think it's good when you're not a fan of that team. When you're a fan, you'll have some favorites on that team. When you have favorites, it's pretty much impossible to make any trades. This is a struggling team, and if you don't deal some of the big players away, you're just going to struggle.

Sonics to stay in Seattle, The Draft and Shard
Not too long after the hiring of GM/Coach Jordan, the Sonics have just decided that the franchise will stay in Seattle for the 07-08 NBA Season.

Looking at the Draft, the Sonics are in the Greg Oden/Kevin Durant lottery this year, and will try and hope for a high pick in the draft.

"You see, we're a struggling team. If we add someone like [Greg] Oden or [Kevin] Durant, that's huge. Those guys are definitely franchise players." says Jordan.

Even if the Sonics do not land the top 2 picks, they are still looking at a very talented draft.

The Sonics are unsure about the future of Rashard Lewis. Lewis has been with Seattle all of his career and has not been too happy with the W column on the standings. Lewis will be a free agent this offseason.

"Rashard is a great player. I think what people forget is that even though he's had quite a few NBA seasons, he's still very young. He was drafted out of High School. I think he still can improve by quite a bit."

Chris Webber posted up 21.8 PPG, 7 RPG, 4.1 APG, 2.06 BPG and 1.86 SPG in the Pistons win against the Phoenix Suns in 5 games.

Allen and Oden combine for 50 but Gomes' 8 straight points give Celtics the game

The Celtics went off to a quick 8-0 run early in the 1st quarter before Greg Oden made a dunk off Luke Ridnour's assist for the Sonic's first bucket of the season.

The Celtics eventually tied the game in the 2nd quarter and continued their lead going into the 4th but could not hold on. Ryan Gomes who had previously missed his last 8 shots made 4 straight with a mix of jump shots and lay ups to help regain the lead. Ray Allen who had a 21 point first half could not find his shooting touch to keep the Sonics in the game. Rookie Greg Oden made a statement with 22 points, 16 rebounds, 1 assist and a blocked shot in his debut. Rashard Lewis, Luke Ridnour and Chris Wilcox were just 7-30 combined from the field. Damien Wilkins added 9 off the bench. Delonte West had a team-high 20 points coming off the bench. Gerald Green added 9 on 4-5 shooting including 2 dunks that sent the crowd to its feet.

Right after the game, the Sonics have announced that Center Robert Swift has been traded to the Cavaliers for Sasha Pavlovic. Pavlovic should be available for the next home game.

I agree about pic overlaying, but I like how this is going so far. Tough loss, but with that roster, playoffs are a given.

Sonics add Pavlovic

The Sonics traded Robert Swift for Aleksander "Sasha" Pavlovic to their roster.

"I'm going to keep adding shooters to this team. Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, Ridnour, Daniels, Watson, Wilkins, Fazekas and Gelabale can all step out and hit that 3. Oden, Wilcox and Sene are all good rebounders, so if they miss, chances are we're going to have an offensive rebound. We're going to start shooting more 3s now."

Nelson scores 48, but Sonics regain control in the second half and top Magic

The Sonics got off to a great start in this game with 35 points in the 1st Quarter. Oden managed to contain Dwight Howard to 2 points on 1-5 shooting to start the quarter off.

The second quarter was when Jameer Nelson went off. The Sonics played decent on the offensive end but just were not playing defense. Nelson only had a 3 pointer in the 1st quarter but added 25 to give him 28 1st half points. Dwight Howard put up 10 rebounds in the second quarter, 4 of them were offensive. The once comfortable lead was down to 3 heading into the second half.

Coach Jordan yelled at the team at halftime, and preached defense. The Sonics held the Magic to 19 points, partly because Nelson shot his shooting touch and also partly because of solid execution, especially from Chris Wilcox. Wilcox only had 6 points in the season opener on 3-9 shooting but never missed a shot from the field.

When Nelson finally found his shooting touch again, it was already too late. He made a push late in the 4th but the Sonics were able to respond with solid production from the bench.

New acquisition Sasha Pavlovic was decent with 7 points in his first game in a Sonics uniform.

I play 8 minutes at superstar level. I think it's cause I was dunking too much, so I'll try and take more Js next time. :P

Ray Allen Injured

Image

"Ray Allen will play in the next game against Atlanta. He will not play heavy minutes but will be there to give these guys a little boost in confidence. Sasha Pavlovic will be getting the load of Ray Allen's minutes" says Coach Jordan.
