Okay, I realized I was kind of on Blazers overload, I should have played around with different teams on the PC version before posting a dynasty here. Moving on- to the Sonics.

Just like my Blazers dynasty, the first year has been simmed. I handled matters in the offseason, and it looks like it should be alot of fun.

Season: 29 games
Quarters: 7 minutes

Seattle Makes Some Big Changes for '07

After an incredibly disappointing season, the Seattle Supersonics organization decided it was time to make some changes. Obviously they had put together a decent team that could go out every night and compete- but they weren't getting anywhere.

They started the offseason by resigning Chris Wilcox and Mikki Moore, and signing free agent big man Scot Pollard to a minimum contract. They drafted two talented guards, Isador Snow and Vince Dehere, but that wouldn't be enough. They needed to seriously shake up this roster.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves were having the same sort of "we need to make some changes" offseason.

The two teams met extensively for some time... and finally came to an agreement. Seattle shipped superstar Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, and rookie Vince Dehere to Minnesota for Kevin Garnett and big man Mark Madsen. Minnesota fans felt like they should have gotten more for Garnett, but have embraced Allen and Lewis, and are optimistic about Dehere's potential.

Seattle, on the other hand, is finally in the NBA Buzz again; They are thrilled to have a superstar like Kevin Garnett on the Sonics.

The only downside to the trade is that Seattle has been left with a logjam of quality big men. Scot Pollard was released from his 1-year contract just after the trade, with apologies from the team, and either Robert Swift or Danny Fortson are strong possibilites to be traded soon.

Welcome to the 2006-2007 NBA season, starring Kevin Garnett the Seattle Supersonic.

ATLANTA HAWKS @ SEATTLE SONICS

Pre-game

Atlanta looks like they could be a surprise team this year, with some great free agent signings, most notably Mike Dunleavy, Jr.

HAWKS take care of the Sonics in season opener

Kevin Garnett and the Sonics just didn't click in their season (and home) opener. They came together in the fourth quarter, but it was just too late. Garnett led the Sonics with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and an amazing 5 blocks. Tyronn Lue had the game of his career for the Hawks, scoring 28 and notching good numbers in every category.

All five Sonics starters scored in double figures.. there's definitely promise here.

Strangely, huge free agent signee Mike Dunleavy, Jr. didn't log a single minute in tonight's game. The Hawks coach declined to comment.

Well, I think you chose this team because I moved to Seattle...didn't you  Come take a visit to the west coast Donatello! It sure beats our midwest winters!

Good luck on this dynasty...and I notice you have I.Snow in your lineup...is that Isidore Snow? If so, that's weird because he's on my team as well! Phenomenal midrange shooter!

I played nine games in the other dynasty, posted several of them, and as I said I got bored and I shouldn't have even posted the Portland one.
I don't know where you got the idea I didn't post any games from the Portland one.

Anyway, I finished game 1 of this dynasty. Organizing, will post it shortly in the post above where the pregame is.

 Game posted, tough loss. Snow looks like he'll be a good player... I've got a trade out involving Memphis and Dahntay Jones, hopefully it will go through.

 Calendar updated.

Garnett will get old. I'd say get someone like Chris Bosh.

EDIT: Other than that, two thumbs up. (Y) (Y)

Seattle @ PHILADELPHIA 76ers

Pregame

KG and the Sonics will have their hands full versus the 76ers in Philly- AI, Webber, and Iggy are quite the trio. Samuel Dalembert and free agent signee Brent Barry won't help matters for the Sonics, either.

Frick, sorry about that...I didn't even notice...that's awesome! Wow we only live 3 hours away now! So we're both watch FSN NW feeds...weird. Well congratulations nevertheless...

...perhaps I should do a Portland dynasty in '07. Getting kind of sick of doing L.A. Dynasties year in and year out.

I'm glad you got back into the groove of Dynasty after a year+. I know you've been roaming the boards still...

I've been playing games like mad but haven't been able to post them, so I'm not going to bother going back to do so. I ended up with a record of 17-12, making the playoffs, I didn't make any trades except one (Robert Swift to Memphis for Dahntay Jones), and I did attempt (to no avail) to dump Earl Watson's salary.

In the first round, I'm up against San Antonio-- and I lucked out. Tim Duncan is out with a leg injury. Didn't play in game one, and he's not in their lineup for game 2, either. The X-factor is Kyle Korver, who the Spurs got from free agency.

Here's the current playoff picture (I'm using 3-3-3-3 format):

Top stuff on making the playoffs, I like the Swift trade, hopefully you'll be able to sign someone in the offseason to package with Earl, or his he a FA??

Seattle went to San Antonio for game two, with a chance to close out their first round series without having to face Tim Duncan. They fell behind early (the Spurs started the game with a 21-9 run) and never caught up. A lack of rebounding killed Seattle's chances, more than anything else.

Stat averages for games 1 and 2 combined (click to enlarge):

Image

As you can see, Garnett is lighting it up with his scoring, but really needs to step up his rebounding in game three for this team to have a chance.

The playoff picture (updated):

Image

The series goes back to Seattle for game three. The winner moves on to face Houston, the loser goes home.

BREAKING NEWS:

Tim Duncan WILL play in game three. This could spell trouble for the Sonics, who stumbled in game two WITHOUT Duncan's intimidating presence around the hoop.

Sonics close out Spurs, Duncan named the NBA's MVP!

The return of Tim Duncan for the final game three of the first round series between Seattle and San Antonio didn't matter one bit. Duncan was completely shut down, held to 12 points in the contest. Seattle closed it out, and at halftime, Kevin Garnett was presented with the 2006-2007 NBA Most Valuable Player award. Seattle now moves on to face the Houston Rockets in the second round.

Sonics fall to Rockets in second round

Garnett's first season as a Sonic was brought to a halt, as he went down with an ankle injury early in game one of the series, and didn't return. The Sonics were swept 2-0 by the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets would move on to lose to the Mavericks, who met up with Detroit in the finals. Detroit won the NBA championship.

Kevin Garnett, in addition to winning the NBA MVP award, was awarded a spot on both the All-NBA First Team and the All-Defensive First Team. Isidore Snow of the Sonics was named to the All-Rookie First Team.

Good job to Rookie I. Snow. Nice numbers.
But holy look at those numbers by A.Mbembe.
Sick number for a rookie.
He'll be something in the future.
