Nets Lose To Clippers

The New Jersey Nets today slipped to 2-7 on the year after losing an away game to the LA Clippers 140-128. Richard Jefferson led the way for the Nets with 36pts & 3rebs, whilst veteran reserve point guard Jacque Vaughn had 10pts, 7ast and 3stl after playing increased minutes when Jason Kidd got into early foul trouble. The nets played most of the last quater without Kidd and Carter who were both in foul trouble. Rookie Antoine Wright also played well with 18pts. The Clippers were led by Cuttino Mobley with 33pts, Elton Brand with 26pts & 8 rebs and Corey Maggette with 25pts and 8 rebs. The Nets got within 6pts in the last quarter when Jacque Vaughn stole 3 consecutive inbound passes and scored off each one, but it was to no avail with the nets going down by 12pts

Jason Kidd Shines As Nets Lose Again

Jason Kidd was on fire tonight but unfortunately the New Jersey Nets lost again, this time at home to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Jason Kidd had 44pts, 9ast and 8stl but his nets still went down 137-148. The Nets closed to within 6 pts in the final quarter before both Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson fouled out. Richard Jefferson had 26pts, 5reb & 4ast and Vince Carter added 20 points for the Nets. The Nets were destroyed by Kevin Garnett with 36pts & 13 boards and Marko Jaric with 36pts. Ricky Davis was also good for the Wolves with 30pts & 5ast.

Nets Send Marc Jackson To Miami for Alonzo Mourning

Today the nets sent veteran center Marc Jackson over to Miami in exchange for former #2 draft pick Alonzo Mourning.

When we asked Nets GM Mat Smith why the trade, he told us he was hoping Zo could start at PF next to Krstic and help with shot blocking.

We spoke to Alonzo about the trade

US: How do you feel about going back to New Jersey?
Zo: Pretty good, i made friends when i was playing there.
US: How do you think you will go playing at forward rather than center?
Zo: Should be fun, i havent played forward for many years. I hope i can help the team out. I gotta go guys
US: Thanks for talking to us Alonzo
Zo: No Worries

Nets Down The Cavs

The Nets won their 3rd game of the season tonight, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 138-124, giving them a record of 3-8 on the season. Alonzo Mourning was fantastic in his first game (this season) with the Nets, scoring 17pts, grabbing 5rebs and dishing out 7ast! His passing to the wing guys out of the double team was superb. Richard Jefferson top scored with 32pts and 5rebs while Vince Carter added 29pts and 6rebs. It was the usual suspects that performed well for the Cavs, with Larry Hughes scoring 35pts, 5ast & 3stl and LeBron James had 32pts, 4rebs, 2ast, 3stl and 3blk.

BLOCKBUSTER TRADE

The New Jersey nets today sent one of their best players to Minnesota in a very risky trade. The Nets sent Richard Jefferson, Lamond Murray and Linton Johnson III to Minnesota in exchange for Ricky Davis, Eddie Griffin & Trenton Hassell.

This is a very confusing trade considering Nets GM Mat Smith told us just 2 days ago that he had aquired Alonzo Mourning to play PF, now he has Eddie Griffin for that spot. This will create competition for minutes between Mourning and starting C Nenad Krstic.

The projected starting lineup for the nets now is

C Krstic PF Griffin SF Davis SG Carter PG Kidd
with the bench
Mourning, Padgett, Robinson, Vaughn, Hassell, McInnis & Wright

with the emergencies being
Planinic and Collins

:P The Nets now have a front line of substance (sorta) with Mourning and Griffin adding some muscle

No offence to Krstic but there is nothing of the kid, he's a skeleton.

Nets Win Thriller At Home

The New Jersey Nets have put back-to-back victories together for the first time this season with a 123-121 thriller over the Memphis Grizzlies at home. Nenad Krstic made his only field goal of the game with 0.3sec to go to seal the win for the Nets. The nets now move to 4-8 on the season. Ricky Davis top scored for New Jersey in his first game with the team with 28pts. Vince Carter had 27pts and 3ast, and Eddie Griffin, also in his first game as a Net, scored 21pts and pulled down 8 boards. Damon Stoudamire was awesome for the Grizzlies with 36pts, 11ast and 6rebs, while Eddie Jones scored 25pts and 4rebs, and Pau Gasol was a monster up forward with 18pts and 19rebs.

A Bad Day In New Jersey

New Jersey's 3 game winning streak has come to an end at the hands of Seattle 127-120. Not only did the nets lose the game, but they also lost recently acquired big man Alonzo Mourning for 6 weeks with a broken bone in his wrist. Ricky Davis was once again top scorer for the nets with 26pts, 7reb, 3ast and 3stl. No other player scored more than 20 pts, but 5 others scored in double figures, Eddie Griffin, Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Alonzo Mourning and Scott Padgett. Ray Allen's 28 pts was the best effort for the Sonics who were also helped out by Rashard Lewis (22), Luke Ridnour (21) and Flip Murray (20). The Nets are now at 5-9 for the season.
