Thanks for checking out my dynasty. This is going to be an evolving thing. I have always wanted to run my dynasty on the boards, so I am giving it a go. I'm using a PS2, so I am at a slight disadvantadge, but I am going to learn as I go along. I don't expect the presentation to be amazing at first, but hopefully it will improve greatly over time!

Clippers announce new GM

Image

Following the controversial dismissal of former GM Elgin Baylor, the Clippers were quick to apoint a man known only as IJBL as his successor. At the press conference, team owner Donald Sterling made the following statement:

"I would like to thank Elgin for all his hard work. However, our relantionship has suffered in recent months. Elgin's vision of the Clippers was somewhat different to mine (translation: Elgin wanted to spend money on the team), so therefore I am happy to announce that IJBL will take over as GM with immediate effect."

New GM IJBL said:

"This is a very proud day for me. This has always been my dream job. Well, this, and maybe managing the Lakers. But still, this is a great day for me. I understand how this team operates (translation: I am a yes-man and will not be letting the team go 1 cent over the soft cap). I have spoken to Mike Dunleavy, and we are both happy for him to continue in his position as head coach (unless of course he asks for a salary raise). I hope this is the start of something special."

Clippers Pre-Season schedule

The Clippers today announced a 3 game pre-season schedule. 2 away games, at Golden State and Sacramento, should be provide an intense atmosphere, which is so often missing in pre-season games. Game 3, against the Chicago Bulls, should be an excellent oportunity for young Clippers, such as Daniel Ewing and Yarolsav Korolev, to show they are good enough to enter the Clippers regular season rotation.

Oct 22 - @ Golden State Warriors L 115-107
Oct 24 - @ Sacramento Kings W 111-87
Oct 26 - Chicago Bulls W 111-102

Game Report
This game should be a wake up call to the Clippers. The Warriors cruised to victory, 115 to 107. The Clips just failed to play any form of defense, for the entire game. Then again, the Warriors were not much better. New GM IJBL was eager to see some of the Clippers younger players play, and he got his wish. Yaroslav Korolev played 19 minutes, and scored 8 points. Shaun Livingston dished at 6 dimes, as did rookie Daniel Ewing, making his first appearance in a Clippers uniform. Ewing also had 9 points and 3 rebounds, in what was a very solid performance. Daniel commented:
"Yeah, it was great to play my first game in the pro's. But man, we were awful. We didn't play any defense, and it was embarrassing. I knew life at the Clippers was going to be tough, but I never thought it...."
At this point, new GM IJBL, standing by his side, interupted the interview, and gave his own views on the game:
"Offensively, we were great. But we failed to play any defense. It doesn't matter though; nearly 6,000 fans came to the game, and Donald tells me we have made a small profit tonight! So overall, our team goals were completed!!!"

Mike Dunleavy Jr caused his dad problems with his all round game. The forward scored 10 points and dished out 6 assists.

Game Report
The Clippers players responded to the criticisms from the Warriors game, and actually showed up defensively. Right from the start, the Clippers played like a team with a point to prove. By the end of the first quarter, they led 35-13! Second year PG Shaun Livingston sparked the team with 8 points and 2 steals, in only 4 minutes if play!

Sacramento played better in the 2nd quarter, but at half time the Clippers still lead by 15. Maybe the deciding area was rebounding: the Clippers dominated on the glass, outrebounding the opposition by an embarrassing 50-27 margin. From the first quarter onwards, the Clippers never looked like losing, and they cruised to a 111-87 victory. Recently appointed GM IJBL had this to say:
"I was pleased with the performances, especially of Shaun (Livingston). I think this kid is going to be one of the NBAs best players. He has all the natural talent in the world. He will go onto greatness. Probably not at the Clippers, but whoever outbids us when he hits FA, they will have one classy player."
Team owner Donald Sterling said:
"The season ahead looks promising. The salary situation looks under control, and season ticket sales are up. So hopefully I can make a whole lot of cash this year."

Image
Brad Miller's 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 swats were not enough for the Kings.

Final Score:
Clippers - 111
Kings - 87

Notable Performances:
LAC - Shaun Livingston (14pts, 7ast, 6/12 FG)
LAC - Chris Wilcox (18pts, 9reb, 8/9 FG)

Rock solid performance from the team captain. Should also be noted he held Shareef Abdur-Rahim to 2 points (1/4 FG) and 3 rebounds in 20 minutes.

Clippers GM calls for calm

Image
Is Chris Wilcox really a legit 20-10 forward, or does IJBL need to take a long hard look at his sliders?

Press Conference:

Clippers GM Mr IJBL said at todays hastily arranged press confernce:

Tonights game against the Bulls has been put off till tommorrow. This is due to a slight problem in the way the game is played (translation: my sliders aren't working properly!!!). It first came to my attention when I realised Chris Wilcox is unstoppable. I love Chris, so I let this one pass. But when the other Chris (Kaman) started to look like a 20-10 man, I had to admit something was wrong. I hastily phoned Donald (Sterling), and the the Commish Mr Stern, and they both agreed that the Bulls game should be put back until a proper solution is found.

Donald also took the opportunity to remind me that it would be helpful to look into trades at the moment, especially ones that clear cap room. We are running near the soft cap, and Donald is getting worried profit levels. And commissioner Stern, or Big Dave as I affectionately call him, said that as long as our players dressed like middle-aged white guys for the Bulls game, he wasn't bothered if it is played tonight or next week.

So all you Clips fans, fear not, the regular season losses are coming soon; just not tonight!!!

Game Report
The starting lineup for the Clips remained unchanged, despite calls for Smooth Shaun Livingston to start. The Clippers got off to a great start, leading by as many as 11 in the first quarter. However, some deadly shooting from Ben '4th quarter' Gordon pulled the Bulls back into the game. The score at the half was 45-42 to the Clippers. Ben Gordon had 15 for the Bulls, while Elton Brand lead the way for the Clips with 12.

The second half was a tight affair, with both teams switching the lead. However, with 3 minutes to go in the 4th, two 3 pointers in a row from Hinrich and Gordon gave the Bulls a 7 point lead. The Clippers had to make something happen, and quick. So they went to swingman Corey Maggette, who duly delivered, scoring 9 4th quarter points, and tying the game. Clippers had the last possession, and with the game tied at 97, gave the ball to Maggette. However, with 6 on the clock, Maggette saw Kaman posting up, and for some crazy reason, threw Kaman the pass! Kaman went for the layup, for the win and...... BOOM!!! Tyson Chandler came from behind with a huge block!!! He collected the ball, and threw the pass downcourt to Ben Gordon, who missed the buzzer beater. The game went to O.T....

O.T was luckily (for GM IJBL's heart) a much calmer affair for the Clippers, as they played solid defense, and quickly built up a lead. Corey Maggette again lead the way, making up for earlier misses. Shaun Livingston shipped in with a couple of trips to the line, and Chris Kaman mopped up all the defensive rebounds that came his way. The game finished 111-102, a great win for the Clippers, and a great way to finish the pre-season!

Ben Gordon was on fire, shooting over 50% from the field for 30 points.

Breaking news: Clippers accept Rockets trade offer

With the Clippers preparing for the start of the regular season, IJBL was happy with the team, and simply looking forward to some real basketball. So when Houston Rockets GM Carroll Dawson called the Clippers office, Coxy made it pretty clear he wasn't looking to trade. Maybe that is why 'CD' made a very tasty offer. Desperate to land young swingman Quinton Ross, who hadn't made a single appearance for the Clippers in the pre-season, the Rockets offered combo guard Luther Head, a rookie who was recently drafted 24th overall in the 2005 draft. IJBL accepted the trade offer, and welcomed Luther to the Clippers. IJBL said:

"Wow, I gotta admit, I don't know what the Rockets are thinking here! Right now, we aren't making any trades, and if we do, I only intend to make fair offers. But when the Rockets made this offer, I felt I had to accept. Luther has a ton of potential, and could become great contributor for the Clippers. I would like to thank Quinton for his hard work for the Clippers, and wish him the best of luck in the future."

Luther Head was drafted 24th overall in the 2005 draft, and has not yet made his debut in the NBA. The 22 year old finished his collegiate career at Illinois as the school’s 19th all-time leading scorer with 1,295 points. Quinton Ross appeared in 78 games in 04-05, averaging 5.1ppg in 21.3mins. In 03-04, averaged 16.7ppg and 4.8reb playing for Telindus BC Oostende, in Belgium.

Trade details:

Clippers acquire: G Luther Head - 60 overall

Rockets acquire: F Quinton Ross - 57 overall

Game Report
There isn't too much I can say about this game that the final score (87-62 for the Clippers) cannot tell you: it was a blowout, and Portland didn't even turn up. Offensively, they had nothing. Zach Randolph only had 8 points, Darius Miles only chipped in 6, and rookie Martell Webster top scored with a modest 14. For the Clippers (who led by 21 at the end of the first quarter!), Chris Kaman, Elton Brand, Corey Maggette and top scorer (with 20pts) Cuttino Mobley were all rock solid. Luther Head, recently acquired from Houston, played 2 minutes, but failed to get on the scoresheet. Daniel Ewing (7pts in 14mins) and James Singleton (1reb in 3mins) also made their NBA debuts.

Clippers GM IJBL commented: "I hope every game is as easy as this! They sucked!"

Image
Zach Randolph was no-where near his best. The powerful 6'9'' forward scored only 8 points, going 4/13 from the field.

Final Score:
Clippers - 87
Bulls - 62

Notable Performances:
LAC - Corey Maggette (16pts, 10reb, 6/13 FG)

Just like in the 3rd pre-season game, Corey was in devastating form. His athletic dunking and sweet mid range shot are making him very popular with the Clippers fans.

Clippers survive Melo show; win by 3
What a game! Clippers blew a 20 (yes, 20) point half time lead, and the game went right down to the wire. Melo dominated, and had 24 points in the second half alone, as he pulled Denver back into the game almost on his own. Maybe this guy is for real! However, Melos amazing effort was in vain, as 6 Elton Brand points in the last 2 minutes, including a nasty dunk in traffic, was just enough to give the Clippers the win.

Clippers GM IJBL said: "What a great game, it had everything. Melo lit us up, but somehow our team basketball overcame it! The lead changed hands so many times in the 4th, it was very exciting. I can't wait for the next game already; the season has started with a real bang!"

44pts, 8reb, 3ast, 0blk, 1stl (19/31 FG, 3/4 3PT, 3/4 FT)

I think this picture sums up his performance: Melo was just on fire. He threw down some alley oops that were just wrong, and his performance was a thing of beauty. Its a good job the rest of the Nuggets didn't get going, because this would have been a blowout for the Nuggets.

Defensive battle ends in Clippers third win
After the excitment of game 2, there had to be a drop off. This was definately it. The Clippers held the Jazz to .345 from the field, while the Clippers were just a little better; shooting .405. Chris Kaman was huge for the Clippers; the centre had 10pts and 9reb in the 1st quarter alone, and the weak Utah frontcourt never got to grips with him.

AK47 had 7 rebounds and 5 steals in this defense party.

Clippers - 77

When Chris Kaman dominates you like this, its time to trade for a new big man.
