Welcome to YOUR Dallas Mavericks and their 2004-2005 season brought to you by JTCMidas.

(( This is my first post and dynasty, well, posting of a dynasty, I've been playing the game since a few weeks after it came out on PC.

I am using 82 game season, 12 minute games on All-Star using my own sliders with shooting ability low to compensate for difficulty and more accurate stats.

Will have most of the roster intact with very few trades, probably one at the deadline since the Mavs always seem to trade then. ))

After yet another 50+ win season, the Mavericks have made quite a few changes to start the year, leading to many trades and many deals. They brought in Dampier and Stackhouse only to trade them both away to Charlotte for their number two draft pick of Emeka Okafor and second year guard Jason Kapono, infusing even more youth into what was first thought to be an aging lineup, obviously due to how well Marquis Daniels and Josh Howard performed in the latter part of the 03-04 season.

Okafor will move into the starting Center position while Kapono will move to backup Josh Howard, changing from the 2 spot into the 3 while in Dallas. We'll have to see how he is able to adjust.

At the Center position, at 6'10" out of Connecticut... Emeka Okafor!
At Forward, standing at 7' even, from Germany... Dirk Nowitzki!
At the other Forward position, he stands 6' 7" and comes from Wake Forest... Josh Howard!
At Guard, from Wisconsin and standing also at 6' 7"... Michael Finley!
And your other Guard, at 6' 2" from Arizona... Jason Terry!

As well as the new players, a new coach has arrived on the scene... Avery Johnson will be taking over for Don Nelson this year, having retired at the end of last year and coming on and taking over as Head Coach. Will be interesting to see the transition from player to coach with a team that Avery has played for and players he's known as teammates.

The first test will be against recent rivals the past few years, the Sacramento Kings. News and stats will come after the game, so stay tuned.

(( Any help or ideas would be appreciated, I've read a few dynasties and somewhat have the idea... though I don't know if I'm ready for all the graphics and photos yet, but might come as I play through, don't know why people don't play the Mavericks much... is it too easy or such? Well, anyways, we'll see how it goes. ))

(( Edits: Went to 12 minute quarters and into All-Star difficulty instead of Superstar after some more testing, scores were getting too high due to uncontested shots. I spelled Emeka right the first time but did spell it Omeka the second *shrugs*. Changed some of the sliders ))

(( Well I figure I free up some salary cap space, I get two young players one with a lot of potential. With a few tests to tweak before I get into the dynasty fully, he's been averaging a double double with about 2 blocks or so a game. Been trying to tweak blocks but even on 0 it seems I get like 15 blocks to their 4-5 which skews the shot amounts a bit ))

(( Well... I'm gonna have to play yet another game because it seems anytime I try to save the team stats, not player stats, it crashes me out... *sighs* so will just have to write those down I suppose and save the player ones, this is killing me... ))

What looked to be a Mavericks blowout of the Kings soon turned into a close game and then a loss as an 8 point lead was blown in the final 10 minutes and turned into a 103-97 loss by the Mavs.

Made a tough shot over Brad Miller to put the Mavs up 8 with under 11 minutes to go in the game, but the Kings clawed their way back and tied it with a minute left and a wide open 2 pointer by Stojakovic put them up 99-97 and then shut the Mavs down for the win.

wow'd the crowd and brought them out of their seats with cheers and applause which soon turned to boos and sounds of disgust as their team ended up losing in the end to start off their season 0-1.

In some good news, Emeka Okafor posted a double double in the effort, notching 14 points and 11 rebounds as well as blocking 3 shots.

The Mavs were lead by Dirk Nowitzki who had 28 points and 6 boards and rejecting 5 shots in total. Doing this on 11/29 shooting and only 1/5 from 3 point range.

The player of the game though was the King's Brad Miller who was one board shy of a double double as he knocked down 22 points and pulled down 9 rebounds with a single block.

Peja shot 6/12 from the field but was 2/2 from behind the arch, leaving with 18 points and 7 boards on the night.

Webber barely was able to play due to early and constant foul trouble, only scoring 6 points in 12 minutes of play because of it.

The Kings had 4 players in double figures while the Mavs had 5, Terry and Webber being the only starters not scoring in the double digits while Jason Kapono in his first game as a Maverick scored 10.

(( Yeah, it is Webber, I'm using the Andrew opening day rosters since the dynasty is for the regular 04-05 season so I decided to go with that. I'll try to remember to take the screens of the box scores or find something to do ))

After losing a close game at home to start the season, the Mavericks decided to use the poor Hornets to get in the win column and they did so in a strong fashion. With a record night by Dirk Nowitzki who posted a whopping quadruple double in points, rebounds, blocks and assists to lead the Mavs to a 107-94 win over New Orleans.

A few highlights from the game include an early break-away dunk by Josh Howard:



As well as a great pass from Jason Terry to Emeka Okafor for the alley-oop:



However the play of the game had to be an underhanded circus shot by Baron Davis between three Mavericks and finding the bottom of the net:



From the box scores here you can see just how Dirk ended up with his quadruple double and how Okafor even had a great game himself, only overshadowed by Dirk's performance. Jason Kapono also showed off some skills in junk time, putting up 17 points in 18 minutes, perhaps showing things to come and a hint of a possible 6th man award if he keeps it up.

On the other side of the ball, Maglore lead the Hornets with 20 points and Baron Davis held to only 6 of 21 shooting, a big reason for the Mavericks win.




So the Mavs under Avery Johnson are now an early 1-1, showing a bit of extra cohesion and defensive prowess that Avery preaches so often to his team. Can the Mavs keep it up against the 1-1 Memphis Grizzles who had a great year last year? We will know this Saturday as they face off.

In other news Andre Miller of the Nuggets will be out for 2 weeks due to bone spurs in his foot and Pau Gasol sprained a finger during his last game but should be able to play through it with only slight discomfort. The Lakers released their first round pick Sasha Vujacic and the Suns cut ties with center Jake Voskuhl.

(( I've changed a few of the sliders, increasing the user shot percentage due to pretty much being unable to hit anything other than dunks, my previous box score looked normal, but the shot chart was filled with mostly points in the paint. The second game is using the new sliders and the shot chart looked much more realistic without destroying the box score realism.

Also, in all the games I've played, this is actually my first quadruple double ever done and I was a bit shocked to have it myself, Dirk just kept blocking everything that came near him even with 0's in the sliders.

I think I've finally got all the kinks worked out of my game, with all the crashes and blue screens of death which put me back about 6 games... now just trying to tweak my presentation, but deciding the make screenshots of the box scores should help. ))

(( Due to me being ticked off at my game seeming to crash everytime I finish, I have decided to cancel this dynasty until futher notice. I enjoyed doing this but after having 5 times as many games crash as I have posted, I'm sure one could understand my frustration. I suppose it will also give me time to read other dynasties and come up with a better formula for presentation when I do start up again. I thank everyone who came and looked at what I offered and commented about it. ))
