New Orleans Hornets Dynasty
The Hornets in 04-05
After being bounced in the first round of the playoffs in 2004, the Hornets made their move to the NBA's tough Western Confrence. They drafted J.R. Smith out of high school hoping that he would be the future of the franchise, and help star point guard Baron Davis lead the team to the playoffs. But the team suffered many injuries and eventually the team decided it was time to rebuild, so they traded away the face of their franchise, Baron Davis. They also aquired young point guard Dan Dickau, who looked to be a future star along with J.R. Smith. Right before the trade deadline, the Hornets newly signed GM traded Jamaal Magloire and Lee Nailon to the Lakers for Chris Mihm and Caron Butler. The only real highlights of the season was J.R. Smith being invited to join the rookie team, and Chris Andersen being invited to the dunk contest. But at the end of the season these youngsters could lead the Hornets to the playoffs, finishing with a overall record of 12-17.
