PG #25 Mo Williams

Image
Analysis:Mo Willliams was drafted after his sophmore year at alabama in the second round by the utah jazz and played rather sparingly during last season. with the injury to t.j. ford mo steps into the starting lineup after signing with the bucks as a free agent. williams has great court vision and will find the open man. his jump shot and athleticism leave something to be desired but his effort and hustle should try to make up for that. the question this year is can he stop anyone defensively?probably not.

SG #22 Mike Redd
Image
Analysis:Yet another second round pick in the starting lineup for the bucks, the ohio native came into his own last season and made a spot for himself on the all star team. his offensive skill and shooting touch is second to none, he will have to prove that he can handle the extra pressure teams will put on him this year and trust his teamates to make shots. Redd plays great on ball defense though it looks like he takes nights off when playing someone inferior to him. If he can trust his mates to make some shots and play consistent d he should continue his rise to NBA elite.

SF #44 Keith Van Horn
Image
Analysis:Keith Van Horn hasnt been able to find a niche with any team in the past but playing in a smaller market with a hardworking team has allowed him to excel. offensively he is great inside and out with a great touch from anywhere on the floor. he has trouble playing defense on quicker forwards and stronger ones as well,he can get up and make a block once in awhile. make no mistake about it hes here for his offense.Keith hasnt been known for how clutch hes been in the past, dissapearing in the big moment, hopefully he can rectify that situation this year.

PF #8 Joe Smith
Image
Analysis:Joe enjoyed a break out year along with brian skinner, now that skinners gone some are saying so is smiths productivness, without skinner will smith be able to get those rebounds and easy baskets this year is the main question for him. smith has been known to block a few shots with his long, lanky arms but is helpless against bigger forwards as they push him around at will. a big year could bring him out of the bust label hes been in since being drafted #1,not as a superstar, but as a solid role player.

C #50 Dan Gadzuric
Image
Analysis:Dan has hustled his way into the starting lineup since being drafted late in the second round 2 years ago out of UCLA. Not the most creative on the offensive end but he can get out on the break and make some spectacular dunks. high energy player, good offensive rebounder. he can get up and block shots on a regular basis but finds himself in foul trouble rather frequently. another question mark this season, can he play under control while still maintaining his high energy play in order to stay on the court for extended periods of time? for now he has this starting spot.

Image

SG-SF #24 Desmond Mason
Image
Analysis:Mason has shown hes a starter on most teams in this league, hes an explosive leaper and has improved his mid-range in the past few years, needs to post up smaller forwards more in order to become a consistent scorer. hes a great defensive player on ball and off the ball, creates offense with his defense. looking to move into the starting lineup, will get their if he can excel on the offensive end or Gadzuric struggles. chances are he will get that spot.

F #7 Toni Kukoc
Image
Analysis: "The Waiter" is getting up their in age and this may be his last season. This dosent change his game, hes a great offensive presence with his passing and shooting touch, he has an advantage with his size to get up over the defense and make a shot. dosent play great defense though he is strong in the post and can get in passing lanes and make a steal. Bottom line, enjoy watching toni this year, he was and still is a very entertaining player.

PG # 13 Mike James
Image
Analysis:Mike is an extremely hard worker on both ends of the floor, he is extremely quick and can step out and hit the 3 point shot. great on ball defender outside of the paint though you can post him up. if Mo struggles Mike will be in the starting lineup.

F-C #21 Marcus Fizer
Image
Analysis:Fizer seems to be a good fit for the bucks with his hard work in the paint on both ends of the floor. hes undersized at the 4 but dosent have enough shooting touch to play the 3, hes a banger at heart. his role could increase if proves he can play inside and help smith get those easy baksets he got last year.

G # 20 Eric Strickland

Image
Analysis:Strickland has had a tough time finding a spot on Terry porters team. hes a great defender and vocal leader. he was frustrated last year at times when he didnt play. if he cant find a spot look for him to be traded somewhere or released in order for him to find a spot somewhere else

F-C #27 Zaza Pauchila
Image
Analysis:Zaza was traded from the magic for a second round pick after being selected by the magic in the 2nd round. the native of Georgia(Country) looks to be a staple in the bucks lineup this year and prove himself as a solid inside player. hasnt played much but most people around the league like this bucks aquisition.

C # 15 Daniel Santiago
Image
Analysis:Daniel is a good roleplayer and another big body that took fouls off the bench and he looks to do the same this year

Injured Reserve

F-C #31 Zendon Hamilton
Image
Analysis: Hamilton was picked up in free agency by the bucks and is looking to work his way up the ladder and into the rotation, another big body in the middle for the bucks.

SG-SF #13 Kendell Gill
Image
Analysis:A solid vetran for the bucks to have in the playoffs and in case of an injury in the backcourt.

PG #11 T.J Ford

Image
Analysis: Ford is recovering from neck surgery in the offseason and hopes to be back at some point this season. he is one of the quickest if not the quickest player in the league. time will tell if tj can recover and be an effective NBA Player.

Mid-October Report

Season Opener at Atlanta:Mase throws down a hard one(left)while Mo finishes the break himself(right)

Current Record:2-3

Game Analysis: Hawks: The Milwaukee Bucks opened the season in Atlanta with a proverbial thud. playing against an inferior team they played down to the hawks ability all night, and when it came within the last 5 minutes when they should have taken control, they let the hawks and antoine walker have the game.
Pistons two days later they played the NBA Champs in their home opener, they recieved their rings and the crowd was in it the entire game! not much was expected of the bucks but they hung in the game despite more lackluster play from redd and co. The Wallace brothers dominated the as the bucks scored only 16 points in the paint all night. Redd scored 23 points grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 5 assists for the only solid performance.
Spurs After that game it was time for the Bucks to go home and have their opener against the powerhouse Spurs. Despite a great effort from Redd and Van Horn they were once again on the losing end. Tim Duncan proved why he is an mvp, scoring 34 points and snatching 17 rebounds to go along with 3 blocks. things were looking rather bleak for milwaukee starting off 0-3.
Hornets: Coming off 3 straight losses to start the season the bucks were in desprate need of a win vs the new orleans hornets. this was a battle of the winless teams with the hornets 0-2. Redd broke out with one of the most captivating performances in nba history. Redd had 26 in the first half keeping the bucks in the game single handedly. he was shut down for only 4 points in the middle quarters as the hornets started to take over. in the fourth redd came alive dropping 18 points and hitting the game tying fadeaway over pj brown to send the game into overtime. Redd added another 10 points to score 58 on the night. a career high and an nba high for the season in the bucks 117-125 win.
Rockets: The bucks had a two day break and they were back in action against the Rockets. with the jeff van gundys rockets controlling the game it was an ugly game shooting wise for both redd and mcgrady. this game was decided in overtime as McGrady hit a 3 at the buzzer to send the game to the extra period. Van Horn showed up in the clutch hitting a 3 and getting inside for some tough baskets. Joe Smith showed up for the first time this season playing a solid 17 point 11 rebound performance.Despite the loss Yao Ming had an impressive 26 point 24 rebound performance.

The Good

Micheal Redd and Keith Van Horn seem to be getting off to career year starts. right now they are the bucks only legit offensive options. Also Mo Williams is finding those two players leading the league in assists with 9.2 per game.

The Bad
Everyone should be concerned with the lack of offense provided by everyone other than Redd and Van Horn. you cant expect to win games when you only have two player score in double figures. They have to find a 3rd option if they are going to win consistently. Terrible play by Dan Gadzuric has the bucks thinking else can play center? hes been burned by Yao Ming for 24 rebounds and the lesser Rasho Nestrovic for 16 and 15.

Final Thoughts:
With Eric Strickland riding pine in 4 of 5 games and the return of T.J Ford inevitable, how long will it be until we start to hear rumbles from the locker room?

End-October Report

Image

Current Record 5-4

Cavs: The bucks took control in that start and never relinquished the lead, out scoring the cavs 35-20 in the first. Toni Kukoc was 66 on the night for 15 points.
Kings:Sacramento pulled away in the 2nd quarter only to have the bucks have a huge 3rd to tie the game. Redd and Van Horn kept up with Peja and Bibby all night as they both scored over 30. Brad Miller got a triple double in the loss. Bibby hit a 3 with 11 seconds left to give the kings a one point lead but Redd drove and found an open Joe Smith for a dunk at the buzzer for the win!
Detroit: The Bucks went into OT with the defending champs after Redd hit 2 free-throws with .6 remaining in regulation. he then took over scoring 7 points in OT giving the buck the win and 3 wins in a row overall.
Portland:The Bucks struggled all night shooting wise and Zach Randolph dominated scoring 35 and grabbing 12 boards. the one positive was Joe Smiths 16 points and 16 rebounds. although it was close throughout stoudamire sealed the game with a 3 for the 104-99 win.

The Good: Joe Smith seems to be getting stronger by the game capping the month off with a 16 point 16 rebound performance.

The Bad:Interior Defense is still a main problem as Smith and Danny have struggled inside. right now their the bucks only options, though Marcus Fizer has showed signs of solid defense he is too short to maintain it.

Final Thoughts:Mo Williams lack of shooting skill is starting to hurt Mike Redds play, the point guards of opposing teams are leaving Mo open and when redd does give him the ball, lets just say things havent been pretty. despite his passing prowess, when will Mike James take over?

(sorry for the short recaps, its been awhile since i played these games. Next update will be sunday.)

Dynamic Duo

Image Image

These days when you take a look at the league leaders in scoring youll find two(thats right two) milwaukee bucks teamates in the top 5. Micheal Redd is leading the league in scoring at a healthy 27.8 ppg which is suppose people could have seen coming this season after an all star appearance last year. What most people didnt expect is the Way KVH is playing. The "Great White Hope" has got off to a fast start this season and is averaging a full 10 points higher than his career average. which is outstanding for someone who is headed into the latter years of his career at age 29. Keith needed to take the pressure off of Redd this season and he has succeded in doing so in quite a big way. With both players playing at such a high level the question that we asked them was how long can they keep this up? Van Horn had this to say "I dont know, I feel comfortable out there,I dont feel that im playing above myself. We are moving the ball around well as a team and im finding open shots.".Micheal Redds reply was quite similar: "Me and Keith are the main scorers, we knew that going in. Its just something we have to do night in and night out. Its not like were winning a ton of games with how much me and him are scoring. Id like to get my teamates involved a little more." In any case both men are looking for another all star birth and to get to the playoffs again, hopefully these big numbers can turn into big wins down the road.

Nice, Dynamic Duo.

BTW--How's Gadzuric doing? I met him last Saturday, he was on South St. in Philly. Just walking around, so I came up to him and introduced myself. He seemed like a cool guy. They were playing the 76ers the following day and he just wanted to take in the sights of Philly and do a little shopping. I hope he does well in your dynasty.

Danny is doing aright,he can rebound and block shots pretty well, i prolly need to get him the ball more but its hard to find touches when redd, van horn, and Mason are all on the floor at the same time.

Trade Rumors

Buck Look towards the dirty for a young point guard

Image

In a deal that almost for sure will go down the milwaukee bucks are looking to aquire a point guard that will help on both sides of the floor. Antonio Burks has spent most of the season lingering in expensive suits at the end of the memphis bench. behind earl watson and jason williams their really wasnt much room in the immediate future for him to fit in,and at age 24 he is already into maturity into todays nba. GM Cody Jones had this to say "We were looking at him in the draft but ended up trading it for Zaza, i like his aggressivness and strength hes a fearless player. we need some of that on our team.". the deal would most likely involve Eric Strickland as the main component and possibly Marcus Fizer or Zendon Hamilton. In order to match salaries most experts agree Dahntay Jones will have to go along with Burks. No comment was given about jones which leads me to think that jones may be part of a three team deal elsewhere. This deal could go down at any moment, stay tuned for the announcment.

well i can really relate to this trade. i don't think the grizz would trade burks so fast because they are basically keeping him since he is a memphian. i think without adding dahntay to the deal will make it an ok deal.

Trade Rumors

Smith not happy with minutes

Image

Reports from atlanta are saying Rookie 17th overall pick Josh Smith is not happy with the playing time first year coach mike woodson is giving him. This week some information was leaked to the press that he had an argument after a blowout loss against the Mavericks with coach woodson. a game in which he only played 4 minutes in the fourth quarter. Smith has not had much to say about the incident and downplayed it as much as he could "I got a little heated after the dallas game, i really do feel i can help this team out if i get into the game. Im not saying i should play huge minutes but i feel like i should be working my way into the rotation...i dont know i guess i just feel like i should be moving along quicker. I cant help it, im a competitor."
The main problem with Smiths minutes is Antoine Walker and Al Harrington, both players are in the top ten for minutes played. he backs harrington up and can play some power forward when needed, so far this has not translated to minutes. Mike Woodson had this to say about smith: "Josh is real young yet and is extremely raw on both ends of the floor. the game is looking very fast to him out there right now but i know that it will slow down with time. Hes not playing as much as hed like but hes going to have to earn it im not just going to give it to him."
while woodson is stern one must think smith will recieve playing time at some point with the hawks atrocious record.

well what about T.J For, he won't play this season as like in NBA. if you gonna use Ford, well i dont think you need another PG in Burks. if you will pay yor ynasty like in real life and opted not to use Ford then go for this trade.

And about josh smith, also you dont need him, a SF that can play PF but you wont get much from him in PF position. So as a small forward, we will need to fight against KVH and mason at that position. though keith can play PF and Mason can play SG, they natural position is SF and they are effective on that position.

for me, i think you need a real PF since both Smith and Kukoc were on the downhill of their career also i think they have a big, not huge salary.

Yeah there will be no T.J. this season. i dont really like his game since hes not really a shooter, solid backup not a starter.

Yeah ive been trying to tell myself i dont need him, i like him alot in real life, hes probably my third fav player behind Bron and anyone on the bucks. i really want him but i dont think i can find a spot for him on the team.

i do need a true pf cuz toni will retire after this year and smith will is 30,he should have 2 or 3 good years left so well see what happens.

thanx for the reply!

Antonio Burks deal finished

Image

Today the deal for Antonio Burks went through but not as expected. Eric Strickland was shipped to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Burks and Ryan Humphery. Previous rumors had dahntay jones being shipped to milwaukee but that didnt materalize as planned. along with strickland to Memphis was center Daniel Santiago. Burks should step in at backup point guard right away as Mike James moves into the starting lineup, Mo Williams lack of offensive touch sent him to the bench as he was shooting a paltry 31 percent from the field though he was averaging 7.8 assists.
