David Robinson's Supreme Court Review (PushingUpRoses)

Wed Aug 26, 2015 9:09 pm

Not sure how many people around these parts are fans of PushingUpRoses, but if you're a fan of old Sierra and LucasArts adventure games from the 80s/90s as I am, definitely check out her channel. She does some great gaming content in general, too.

Anyway, Roses recently decided to post a review of a game that her fans wouldn't have expected, and that turned out to be a somewhat forgotten basketball title: David Robinson's Supreme Court.

I never actually played it, but seeing the footage and listening to her commentary, it sounds fairly typical of basketball games of the early 90s: not bad, not great, definitely middle of the road. It wasn't really until NBA Live 95 that games were being made that still hold up decently decades later (from a gameplay perspective, at any rate).

Yeah, they're something that have pretty much gone the way of the dodo: the basketball game endorsed by a specific player, lacking an NBA license and being filled with fictional players. We usually want a bit more bang for our buck, these days.

Along those lines...

This was top of the line graphics at the time, but people still complain about graphics. Crazy

She actually compliments the graphics in the review; she does make fun of the cover art, which I think is a fair call. A real photo with the Spurs logos digitally removed would've been better.

I gotta say those graphics are pretty good.. Players and player animation were better than Live's at the time

I'd say the models were, probably not the animations. That would've been Bulls vs. Blazers era, too.

I remember my mom renting Bulls vs Blazers for me to play... man I was really young then. Good times.
