Hopefully the timing feature is something you can turn on and off in settings.

I'd like that, though it's probably not an option in the tournament mode (especially online). It kind of reminds me of the Hot Spots in NBA Jam TE, which were my least favourite feature in what is otherwise one of my all-time favourite arcade basketball games. I'd always turn them off.

I hope we can mod this game. Can't wait.

Kemp was not fat for his first 2 seasons with the Cavs (He had one chubby season, his 3rd and last with the team), and averaged 20 PPG for them (highest of his career). Here is him in 1998 in great shape.

He was certainly bigger with POR and ORL. But I would have no issues using a Cavs Kemp.

Well clearly, but... two points I was trying to make.

1. He was not fat with the Cavs his first two years (Which is the majority of the time he spent with them)
2. I certainly wouldn't mind using a Cavs Kemp

Good point. Perhaps he'll be one of the players that's added later; he's certainly a good candidate.

No Jordan ? Jordan & Chuck must be really hard to licence with.

Historically, they have been. MJ is exclusive to 2K these days, though.

With the arcade-style game NBA Playgrounds — which launches May 9 for $19.99 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One — developer Saber Interactive is looking to fill a market niche that publishers like Electronic Arts have left wide open. And from what I’ve seen so far, the independent studio may have a hit on its hands.

Key points of interest from the Polygon article:

• There are over 300 dunks in the game.
• Lottery Pick boosts include hot spots that multiply the point value of the shot, and debuffs for your opponent such as halving the length of their shot clock.
• The shot clock is at 12 seconds, rather than the usual 24.
• Four player local multiplayer is supported, along with two player head-to-head online. An early update will add four player online support. Post-release support will also include roster updates.
• Players are unlocked with card packs, though there won't be any microtransactions (at least initially).
• Each team has at least three active players in addition to retired players. More players will be added later, though Charles Barkley and Kobe Bryant are two noteworthy players Saber doesn't have access to.
• A dunk contest and three-point shootout are planned to be added post-release.

It all sounds pretty good for the most part. I'm a bit iffy on the shot clock being so short, but with the pace of the game, it might be an appropriate rule change. I'm also still not a huge fan of the idea of the points multipliers for perfect releases and whatnot, but I'll give it a chance. The plans for post-release support sound great if they can make it all happen.

Those post-release plans are pretty great. Happy to see 4 player online as well. I don't think that was in NBA Jam: OFE?

Yeah, OFE had four player online multiplayer.

It's nice to hear about post release additions. There's been a lot of good things said about this game, it almost makes me worried that it gets over hyped and actually sucks. I hope I'm wrong
