The PS3 version of NBA Jam: On Fire Edition is now fully playable on the RPCS3 emulator. Earlier this year, the game became playable, but the jersey textures were missing so all the jerseys were solid black. Sometime in the last month this was fixed, and the game runs beautifully now. Here's the game's thread on RPCS3's forum:
https://forums.rpcs3.net/thread-194564.htmlI haven't figured out how to get the last roster update that EA released for this game (the one that added the 2011 rookies). I believe the update is downloaded from within the game, directly from EA's servers. There is currently no network mode or PSN support in RPCS3. I'm thinking the game files will have to be copied directly from a PS3 that has the updated game files.
It would be great is the beginning of the roster editing of this great game....

That's pretty cool. I'd love to see an official re-release, of course.

This game now runs perfectly on the latest builds of RPCS3.
If anyone is interested in modding this game (changing player ratings, replacing graphics, updating rosters), please let me know. I'm working on this game, but I don't think I'll be able to do everything I'd like to.

Man, that was a fun game. I wish it had boss battles from the original though

That was about the only thing that was missing. I still feel like OFE is the best NBA Jam game, and best arcade basketball game period, released to date.

I have to try

This emulator seems to be well optimized, even in 4K !
Thanks johnz1 for this information

Well, i tried this emulator and the game.
My config is pretty good (i7 4790 and 1070Ti) but i cant have a decent speed with this game, despite the fact that FPS are above 60fps, gameply is choppy

Something ain't right. My system is less powerful than yours (i5-6500, GTX 970) and it's flawless. You're getting 60fps but it's choppy? That's suspicious.
1. Are you using the latest build/version? The latest as of right now is v0.0.5-7691
2. Are you changing any settings? If so, which?
3. What kind of display are you using? Is it a standard 60Hz TV or a high refresh monitor? What's the resolution?

1. last version
2. i tried almost everything (default, 2K with 128x128) ; looks good but choppy
3. 24' gsync monitor

Try with nothing but the default settings. And try limiting the refresh rate to 60Hz. There's no reason it shouldn't be smooth

How's is this coming along?
Was looking to dl the rpcs3 emulator specifically for this game as I would definitely like to play with the updated rosters after this crazy offseason (LeBron AD in LAL, Kawhi George in LAC, KD Kyrie in BK, WB Harden in HOU, and even Zion in NO). Also would be cool to have updated legendary players on teams as well.

Hi
I'm interested in trying out NBA Jam On Fire Edition on my PC using this emulator.
I have the game disc for PS3, do i need to rip the game from disc? or can i just put it into DVDRom/BluRay disc reader.
If i have to rip it is their some preferred software to do this?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Andrew

Cant believe how much this reminds me of NBA Playgrounds 2.
Not comparing them from a feel standpoint, but more of a visual standpoint. The size of the players and court, the camera view, the players proportions, the size of the hoops, some of the animations (fade aways) etc
The NBA Playgrounds developers/creators must have used this game as a influence for what they created.
