That's the one. Just be mindful who you try it with since it's less effective against a strong defender and the risk of losing the ball is increased.

that was easy on the gamecube lol!!! Too bad the 360 doesn't have that smooth animations lol. . .maybe next year.

And yeah your supposed to only do it on weaker defenders. No offensive foul there

Whenever I press the pro-hop button (press up of the right stick in PC), it just performs pro-hop. I never see power dribble happens......

By the way, is NBA Live 08 more fun than 07 in PC? I saw wiki says 08 PC verison graphic is any anything close to 360 or PS3, so I didn't even try it.

You need to be using a player who cannot pro-hop while backing down a defender.

all my own created players know how to pro-hop. How can I make one who cannot pro-hop? When I am backing down the defender, I need to press downward of my right stick, but pro-hop is pressing upward of the same stick..how to do that at once?.....

Set their Dribbling rating to less than 50.

I saw pc can use one same player to do both power dribble and Pro Hop in a game, so I guess there must be a way to do both for the same player...isn't it true?

Try tapping the right stick up instead of holding it.

Base on what I understanding, I need to Backing down a defense, then "right stick up" to do the power dribbling. However, I need to hold the right stick down to backing down someone, then how can I suddenly from "holding right stick down" to "tapping right stick up"? Whenever I try it, my guy just stops backing down....that is what I don't understand...may be someone can describe how to do the whole power dribbling...thanks

Try tapping the right stick up without backing down. It's been a while since I played NBA Live 07 so my earlier advice is probably a bit mixed with instructions better suited for NBA Live 08.

That's really a matter of opinion. It fixes a few issues with gameplay but introduces some new issues of its own and if you're a Dynasty enthusiast, there's less enjoyment to be had because of the sim engine problems.

Can someone step by step talk about how to do the move? I still cannot do it, but I really want to make it happen!

It's definitely done by pressing up on the right analog. It seems to be possible once you automatically get into the backdown stance as part of an on-ball scenario when you're posting up. It also seems to help if you're using a stronger centre who isn't as athletic or good at dribbling and you have a defensive mismatch, as is the case in that video.

First of all thank you. What is the difference between posting up and backdown? I always thought it is the same thing, which I hold down the right analog

There's no difference. As you noted you can't be backing down at the same time because that requires holding down on the right analog, but if you're posting up a defender your player should automatically try and shield the ball. I found that in that stance, pressing up on the right analog triggered that move.

Try to get into the same position as the player in the video. Remember that it works better against an opponent that is smaller and weaker than the player with the ball.

Hey, does anyone know how to make a button that backs down, and a button for power dribble? I would be willing to give up something, like alley-oop or something, because I could just put those buttons as keyboard buttons.

It's possible with a little bit of editing. The solution has been posted a few times, if you search for PPJOY it should come up.
