All About Graphics?

Postby ignatu on Wed May 25, 2005 9:23 am

Every review I've read about NBA Live 06 focuses on the graphics. See beads of sweat, players look more real, new camera angles - then they mention quickly 'all new AI' and that's it.

Is all the focus on preparing a pretty game for XBox 360, or can we expect AI to have superstars playing like superstars?

that's because all we know right now is about the graphics.
the one that was showed at e3 was not playable (except for the new freethrow thing). I guess we will get to know about all the new stuff other than graphics very soon.

I think they are trying to hype up their graphics because that is something EA has always seemed to lack!

I guess the free throw shot is gameplay related, because your pet can come and pounce your controller, and then you can argue with the referee for interference.

The only other thing I heard of is the foot sliding is gone.

The game will have plenty of new features... There is rarely anything more than graphical demos shown at the E3 convention from EA's sports games... Rarely anything ready.

If I understood it correctly, in fact the NBA Live had the most to offer from EA's sports line so it is actually ahead of schedule compared to all the other products.

EA will give us a good basket ball simulation... No matter what it looks like now. I have always enjoyed NBA Live games, the only real dissapointment in the series has been Live 2003... It was so fast there was no point in it... Although the super fast AI controlled players really got you guessing on defense and often capitalised on player made mistakes... So it was harder than say Live 98-2001 put together. It was a bit harder, but not hard enough. Live 2005 is the first game that offers a real challenge... Hope Live 2006 will follow in the footsteps...

I'm not too worried about just the graphics being praised right now. Like others have stated, this is all that is being shown at this time. But the animations are much better, and the AI is being completely rewritten to have a much more fluid gameplay. I'm feeling pretty confident for '06. I just hope it meets my expectations! :)

Just to reiterate what others have posted, the lack of a playable demo at E3 basically prevents anyone from providing an in-depth look at the new features, the improved features and the gameplay. The first glimpse at E3 has never really told us everything about the game. The details us realism freaks crave always come out later in the "preview season".

I play NBA Live 2005 at all high settings and my rig isn't that sweet either...

3.0 Ghz P4
1.5 Gig Ram
160 Gig HD
Radeon 9800 Pro 128 Mb (I'm just going to get a new card soon!)

I'm hoping that will be fine for Live '06

The game is too easy because the AI is too repetitive and doesn't adapt enough. example, the pick n roll in 05 almost always ensures an open three for ur SG/SF. And also there is not enough offball movement. Hopefully they improve the off the ball movements of computer players, but unfortunately, there'd be no Reggie Miller to use it :(
