player shooting styles/form

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Yea, we're are playing a game, we don't want to memorise when to release the shot quickly for which player, and when to hold longer.

Furthermore, not everyone has a really distinct shooting form and it's not really feasible to mo-cap over 350 players.

I suppose creating different shooting styles would be a great improvement. But not for everyone. What they oughta try for now is different shooting styles for the more "known" players.

Better yet, instead of shooting styles, how about Free-Throw shooting styles? Including the rituals different players use. If only Anthony Mason was still around aye?

Adding a few signature styles plus an assortment of generic styles would be great, in my opinion. However, for the moment it's not feasible.

i dont think learning new players shot styles would be too bad. Especially if EA ties in a practice mode into Dynasty. I'd welcome that.

Perhaps a scouting report on each player in their profile. It would list what type of shooter the player is. Quick release, peak of jump, falling down...or something to that extent.

LOL  Anthony Mason's free throw shooting style was unortodox to say the least. I remember he would get his fair share of lane violations and end up shooting another FT, as other players never knew when he would release.

Most players use basically the same form for their free throws as their jumpshot, so when it becomes feasible to add a variety of shooting forms, I'd assume they could be used for free throws as well.

i think you all over react, they just have to put like 10 shooting styles in the game and just asign them to players who come close to that shooting style in real life so you dont have to assign al the players in the nba. and just make it posible to edit them. hope jou understend...cause of my typing

Yea, but the problem still remains, we have to remember which players have which shooting style and adjust the timing issues when we are playing, although it would be challenging and when you get used to it, it could get fun, but I'm thinking of a scenario of.. say... I'm down by 2 in a game using the Pistons, I haven't used 'Sheed to shoot 3s for the whole game (and lets assume he has a totally different style than Rip and Billups, hence different timing), 2 secs left, I inbound and find Sheed is open for the 3, but then at the spur of the moment, I forget that Sheed's timing is different and that I should release at a diffferent point, so the shot is totally off target, I lose. That would be annoying as hell.

i agree with number 10's last statement, thats really what this thread started out as, just wanting like 5 or 10 different styles. as for forgetting timing, thats the point, its supposed to be challenging, and if you forget it, then whos fault is that? though i do agree it would be mad annoying to start off with, but once used to it i think it adds more enjoyment to the game.

Learning to shoot with 15 different guys with all different styles. That makes dynasty a whole other process to begin with.

This would require that you could go to practise with all the guys one-by-one to see how their shooting motion works. To get the releases right.

It would be fun once you get used to it, and funny if you challenge a newbie friend who has only played past NBA Lives and they just figure out how to shoot with one player
Anyway... I guess it won't be too bad based on the shooting styles in 2005, since you hold it for about the same time for each style.

Personally I think the most important this is making harder to abuse freestlye and turbo. Have an energy bar like in 2K. Fix computer AI. And try to get steal and block stats more realistic.

I don't think they would add more than 2 different shooting styles because if they do then we would ask for more and more than 2. That being the case they won't even go to that territory and just ignore the issue and proceed with improving the GAMEPLAY which is the number one priority.

It's not an issue of not wanting to add more than two different styles of the gameplay, it's not being able to because of certain limitations.

i think they need to consentrate just on the gameplay, i dont care if the graphics are crapy becose you will get used to it. but i never get used to a bad gameplay, and i think i dont stand alone in this opinion!

A game doesn't have to be graphically stunning to be a lot of fun or have great gameplay, but impressive graphics won't be able to cover up a subpar game for very long. I'd take small improvents to the graphics and huge leaps in the gameplay/Dynasty Mode over a game that looks great and has all kinds of flashy presentations and cutscenes, but has no real substance.

the only reason they constantly work on graphics is to sell the game to the masses who dont follow nba live on the regular. the people who just happen into a store and like what they see. the fans will buy it no matter what but the real money comes from those other people.

Sauru tells it like it is. the true basketball fan and live fans for past 3 or 4 years at least all want improvements in gameplay. someone who plays it for the first time because they're at their friends or something will just think the graphics are cool. they will also love the stealing blocking shit that we all despise here. unfortunately those people are where the cahs comes from and theres not much we can do about it.
