where's the block-fix in the wish list?

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

where's the block-fix in the wish list?

Postby flixotide on Fri May 13, 2005 12:25 am

I've been going through the NBA Live 2006 wish list as posted by Andrew, and... woah, loads of good stuff. Hopefully we'll get half the stuff in 2K6.

But THE MOST pressing issue doesn't seem to be present... the insane blocking of NBA Live 2005. Or is that the "all the other bugs in 2005".

In a regular season, with both teams being cumputer controlled - not simulated, actual playing - I can get 20 bpg teamwise, with AK47 or Peter Ramos averaging 7 bpg each, on the same team. AK47 is GOOD, but I doubt we'll ever see him beat Mt. Mutombo.

Literally ruins the fun of playing when you see those insane blocks, with both block settings to 0 and player ratings halved.

So lets get this block-bug out the way NOW..

Cheers, Flix

I thought we'd mentioned it, it's certainly an oversight if we didn't. Thanks for bringing it up. (Y)

We definitely need to elaborate on the blocking situation.

Just re-release Live 2000 with a better Dynasty mode I reckon.

I don't know about that...if you go play Live 2000 now, you will realize how far Live '05 has come since then.

I have to disagree there. NBA Live 2000's Franchise Mode isn't as good as NBA Live 2005's Dynasty Mode. The same issues with free agents exist, salaries can get recalculated during the year, Dstats allow aging players to dominate, the trading logic is worse just to name a couple of problems. The gameplay isn't as realistic compared to today as it's made out to be. In fact, at the time it was released, a lot of the same criticisms were made about NBA Live 2000 that are made about the more recent games.

I still prefer it, I actually enjoyed dynasty mode moreso then. The whole rookie thing put it over the top.

Don't get me wrong, it remains a great game and it was a huge step forward. I just think it's a little overrated these days. Opinions on video games and TV shows have a way of changing over time though, which is probably why many of the early criticisms of NBA Live 2000 aren't made today.

Live 05 is a whole lot better than Live 2000, but that doesn't mean that things are perfect. I know it is impossible to make things perfect, but the blocking situation is completely fake. When have you ever seen anyone jump from the free-throw line and block someone's dunk/layup, especially SHAQ's Shot!

Absolutely, there's still room for improvement, there's still things that need to be fixed. That's why we send these suggestions to the production team. ;)
