I saw part of it in the middle of my finals. I was surprised at how long it was when I came downstairs to get a drink of water and see that my parents were still watching it. Was it 3 hours or something?

As for Walk the Line, it reminded me to much of Ray.

saw Brokeback Mountain this past week. good movie (Y)
Heath Ledger's best performance since banging Shannan Sossamon in several movies and Jake G's best (bah can't spell his name) since Donnie Darko

i wasn't sure if i could take Donnie Darko seriously after his previous roles plus he has this face like he's always smirking but after a few minutes i was sold

Dawson Creek's ex girlfriend also did a great job. I really felt for her in the scene where she says "Jack Twist? Jack Nasty!!"

a very moving movie. i'll probably have to see the movie once to take it all in, so to speak

i recommend this movie

Not sure if these have been discussed yet or not, but here's my take on a few I've seen in theatres recently:

RV- It was entertaining. Not a good movie though. If it was anyone but Robin Williams I wouldn't reccomend it. Okay if you have nothing else to do.

Inside Man- Brilliant. 4 stars.

Thank You For Smoking- Again, brilliant. Katie Holmes sex scene is a bonus. Hilarious.

16 Blocks- Way better than I thought it would be. Mos Def for president, seriously. The guy is awesome.

I want to see DaVinci's Code but got no clue what it is about. People said it's about religion. I saw some previews and it looks intriguing and interesting.

There actually is a book called The Da Vinci code, you could actually read that and find out what the movie will be like.

Kind of shocked you haven't as yet, I think 80% of Holland has read that book. The other 20% percent being Turkish folks.

DaVinci's Code is just a cheap attempt at literature, nothing exactly intellgent or worth discussing about. The fact that half of the Western civilization literature read it (and liked it) just tells you something about the state of our brains.

Inside Man: overrated and quite frankly - a bit dumb. First of all, the plot is illogical (the bank manager never tells anyone (ANYONE (ANYONE! (ANYONE!! (ANYONE!!!)))) about that sef, but these people happen to know eveything about it). Sure, Spike Lee intergrated his rant against racism and social inequality, but who the hell cares? It doesn't make this movie better, it's just Lee's cheap shot to upgrade the movie with a deep message like he alway does but fails in most cases. It's a film with a lot of potential with a superb cast, but it just doesn't have that mojo, rythm and sharpness that a great (or at least a very good) movie needs. Is this art? Far from it.

It's supposed to be a decent book who doesn't insults your intelligence - it's not. I rather read John Grisham/Stephen King if I want to read something just to entartain myself.

Who said it was supposed to be art? It's a Hollywood entertainer, lay off the almighty bullshit.

You said it yourself, so don't come out later defending this flick with its alleged depth and artistic value. If you look at this movie as a pure Hollywood entartainer, you'll get a decent acting, flawed script and not much of anything else. Of course, if you're a mildly retarted Dutch version of dweaver, you'll find this one as 'one of the best movies this year'. So it depends on the person, really.

I did? Artistic I called it? Show me, please do.

It's supposed to be a decent book who doesn't insults your intelligence

So because it's labelled as that, and it isn't, it's an awful book? Really, how about you judge the book just by the entertainment value? Don't go by what it's been labelled, did you as an individual enjoy the book? No? Fine. The way it comes off is that because everyone said it's good, you don't think it's good.

so don't come out later defending this flick with its alleged depth and artistic value

I didn't do so to begin with so I don't see the point in defending it.

If you look at this movie as a pure Hollywood entartainer, you'll get a decent acting, flawed script and not much of anything else.

That is how I saw it. A Hollywood movie I went to watch to be entertained on a Friday evening when there wasn't much else to do. I wasn't looking for a Shakespearean play. What the fuck are you looking for art & depth for in a movie? It's supposed to be entertaining, not a fucking snoozefest. I'm afraid to even ask you what you consider "entertaining", given it has to be "artistic" and have "depth". Name me a movie that was "artistic" and had "depth".

Of course, if you're a mildly retarted Dutch version of dweaver

This is the second time you've made a reference to my being Dutch. You're basically saying that the Dutch are stupid for liking a movie you did not like.

Hear ye, hear ye you Slovenian cunt, I. Am. Not. Dutch. Is that so much to handle for that feeble minded Tom Cruise midget brain of yours you fucking bimbette?

Now quit with the nationality bullshit, I've had it up to here with that shit, you're the third person on the forums to resort to backing your "arguments" by using nationality & frankly I'm getting tired of it. If you want to discuss, call names, fine, leave nationalities and other such bullshit out of it. This better be the last time.

For the sake of discussion, of the movies released in 2006, now I'm talking Hollywood, not some fucking documentary, what would you call "the best movie of the year"? Do tell.

First of all, you said it's a Hollywood flick and I judged it as one - it just has too many flaws to be more than above average. But then again, you were entertained by Hostel, so you don't exactly have the highest standards in the world.

And second - I called you Dutch on many occasions. That has nothing to do with my disrespect towards the people of Netherlands (quite contrary, I like them and their country a lot) and it has all with do with my lack or respect towards you. You're a spammer and a flamer and you insult people without even thinking twice, which I find it wrong, especially if a gutless cunt like you does it to me. Tell me - if half of your posts are vicious attacts of other poster' alleged homosexuality and/or intellectual shortcomings, and the other half are 'witty' oneliners about the size of your manhood/titties and which sole puprose is to prove your masculinity (or lack of thereof and with almout 9000 posts you have to have one helluva problems in that area), when and where do you actually find time and space (=words) to actually contribute something meaningfull to this community, you cunt? If you have something against, then PM me and do not insult me when I want nothing more than a cilivilised and constructive argument.

And BTW, you are Dutch. You live in Netherlands and Curacao is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. I started callling you Dutch because you attacked me (and 'attacked' is the key word here) that I'm homosexual, because I supposedly write and do things only homosexuals do (what exactly that is, remains a mystery to this day). Guess what, if your opinion makes me gay, then I have all right and all facts to call you Dutch.

(Diclaimer: I have nothing against homosexuals, I wouldn't be offended if someone made a mistake and thought that I am one, but I have EVERYTHING about attacking me over the Internet by a sad fuck who can't get laid.)

Edit: Movie of the year (so far) - V for Vendetta.

Wasted 2 hours of my life watching Silent Hill. Cant say nothing much except the movie was horribleand had awful dialogue.

I also watched MI3 which wasnt that bad at all. I just hate Tom Cruise so it was annoying seeing his face all the time.

Oh well. 2 for 1 so I cant complain.

The biggest flaw according to you is that no one was aware of the safe of the bank manager. How is it "full of flaws" when that's your biggest gripe about the movie?

The tone/manner in which you refer to me as Dutch is in a degrading fashion. It's more as if "the Dutch have low standards, they were entertained by Hostel". I see no need in envolving the fact that I'm supposedly Dutch, to solidify the argument that Hostel wasn't an entertaining movie. You've not done this once, you've done this twice.

I'm a spammer & a flamer, that I can accept, I've never denied it & it's not the biggest relevation of the world. You say it as if you've discovered a whole new world & are sharing this new thought with the world. I insult people that are asking to be insulted, you are a douchebag & deserve to be insulted. Look at the people I insult, they are all in your rank/category. They are either spamming nincompoops who aren't even creative enough to provide the forum with mildly entertaining one liners about boobies/titties, nor are they creative enough to provide light moments to others via flaming. You fall in the ranks of folks like Legend & Dweaver, basically people that pass themself off as intelligent contributors to the forum but are in fact just what I am, a spammer.

I've never passed myself off as an almighty intellectual that makes topics that are worthy of discussion (hmm), you on the other hand single me out by saying I am a mindless flamer that spams. How about pointing the finger in your own direction, what exactly is it that you add to the forums? You drool over men's physique and ramble on about your own one. Secondly you post something, anything to be different.

You use my postcount as the basis of your argument, namely that I am not very masculine. I could always go all gangster and tell you I'd fuck you up and shit like that, but this is what seperates me from the many mindless fucks that roam this forum, I won't do that. My masculinity is not something I have to prove to a faggot such as yourself. It's quite odd that you attack me about my masculinity when it's been noted (by me mainly) that I am all of the above, I've called myself gay, a transexual, a eunuch and countless other things that would lead you to believe that I am not very masculine.

Only a person that is certain about their masculinity or doesn't really give two flying hoots about what a random internet Ricky Martin fanboy thinks of his manliness could do such a thing.

Psychologically speaking, it's quite evident that being called a homosexual on numerous occassions has indeed really gotten to you, the only way I can clarify this occurence is by pointing out that you simply aren't very sure of yourself sexually. Perhaps the fact that I keep calling you a fag has you this ticked off, is because you do doubt yourself. Whatever the reason, it's highly amusing that it did tick you off.

If you feel so strongly about me not being a contributing member of the community, why not take it up with higher authorities instead of whining about it? Honestly, dozens of you have come and gone whining & moping about big bad Jackal, but no one takes the initiative to actually do something about it. When this question is asked to the various people that have complained over the years, the same shitty response comes back "I don't care enough to go complain." Yeah, you'd rather just do it in when opportunity knocks instead of growing a nutsack and actually lodging an official complaint to my so called uncalled for behaviour on the forums.

An African man living in Slovenia does not make him Slovenian, really, the level of intellect you possess just spews out of those few lines of yours. I was born in the United States of America, how does this make me Dutch? Enlighten me.

You go on to tell me that you started calling me Dutch in response to me calling you a homo. Let me summarise what you just said: You attacked me by calling me a fag, so I'll attack you by calling you Dutch. Basically admitting you did and intend to keep using the Dutch nationality as a derrogative term to insult me in response to me insulting you. Is that artistic & depth-laden enough for you to comprehend? Deny it.

Again, you go on to talk about how I can not get laid, do you feel the same about Jae? Do you feel the same about Andrew? Given post count is the sole factor you are basing this upon, I'm guessing you do.

Lastly, weren't you the sad moron that followed Dweaver around complimenting his avatar for his "sexy" & "hot" wife? Weren't you the one drooling the saliva like you were injected with morphine while you were trying to escape from a mental monkey penitentiary?

You said it yourself, so don't come out later defending this flick with its alleged depth and artistic value.

By the way, I think you read over this bit in my initial post, so here it is again. Where exactly did I call "The Inside Man" artistic and where did I say it had "depth"? Given you said I said that, I'd like you to show me where I said that.

Fuck you & have a nice day.

What do you mean "when she still had boobs"? Am I missing something?

Went to a movie marathon the other night.
-V For Vendetta (Y) (Y) Best movie Ive seen all year...I think.
-Scary Movie 4 (N) Hated it.
-Shaggy Dog. We left half way through it, which was about 4am, and when we were walking home, some guys in a black Honda Civic threw two full Crownies (Beer bottles) at us!
One hit my friend in the foot, the other missed one of my other friends and my head/neck by a slim margin.
They decided to come back for 2nds, so we ran as hard as we could before they turned around....luckily, we escaped unharmed.
Point of this story, if Shaggy Dog didnt suck balls so much, we wouldnt have left half way through, which means we wouldnt have gotten bottled.

Ok, some of the best movies I've seen in the last few weeks:

King Kong - Either you hate it or you love it. Being not an action-flick guy, I was really surprised. I think I'm gonna watch it again tonight.

Sin City - A visual masterpiece. I've never seen a movie that was as comic-like as this one. Plus, it's really cool.

Barfuss - German movie with Til Schweiger. You might know him from King Arthur(crap). A story about a total loser who saves a mental patient from killing herself. The girl had been locked inside by her mother for 19 years, so she's really strange and totally not fit for the world. An inspiring, amusing and heartbreaking story.

Brokeback Mountain - Really, really loved it. The sad story got to me, but what really impressed me was the amazing countryside. It blended in perfectly and made the movie so much more believable.

I can't think of more right now, but I'm sure there are some. I'll tell you when I remember.

I see no need in envolving the fact that I'm supposedly Dutch, to solidify the argument that Hostel wasn't an entertaining movie. You've not done this once, you've done this twice.

I refer to you as fuckwit which you are. I said in my last post that doesn't have anything to do with Dutch people or your nationality, but it has everything to do with your poor state of mind. I didn't do it twice, I did it more than that and everytime I was refering to you, not to any other Dutch member of these forums (I apologize to all of them) and you always knew to whose direction I was pointing out, so you better don't act insulted by my 'nationalism' with which you want me to label with.

You fall in the ranks of folks like Legend & Dweaver, basically people that pass themself off as intelligent contributors to the forum but are in fact just what I am, a spammer.

With what did I invite to be insulted? I never post for the sake of the post itself, I always have an constructive opinion to share with (at least in 95% of time), either in NBA Talk or in General Talk. There are a lot of people that go to the gym to achieve their athletic and aesthetic goals and if people want to dicuss about that, share their goals and ways of achieving them and that pisses your sorry ass off, then it's purely because of your ignorance (or other sad reasons). I find discussing weightlifting as important/meaningful/interesting as discussing politics, philosophy or books. If you don't think that, then leave those of different opinion in peace.

You use my postcount as the basis of your argument, namely that I am not very masculine. I could always go all gangster and tell you I'd fuck you up and shit like that, but this is what seperates me from the many mindless fucks that roam this forum, I won't do that. Only a person that is certain about their masculinity or doesn't really give two flying hoots about what a random internet Ricky Martin fanboy thinks of his manliness could do such a thing.

Your sign includes a statement about the alleged size of your cock and many, MANY posts have been about your different parts of your genitals and if that doesn't tell us something about your insecurity in that particular , that I don't know what does. So, your post count has nothing to do with basis of my argument, the procentage of those kind of posts you make has. You're describing yourself gay, transexual, eunuch? Should that tell us that you're sure about your manliness, masculinity? How you don't care? It could but there's a very similar chance for the opposite, cause than again you also called yourself homophobic and that's usually pretty clear sign of sexual insecurity.

Pychologically speaking, you're a lost case and I already explained how I feel about that. You could call me anything you want and I would be pissed off in any of the cases. Why? Becuase of the idea of being attacked without basis by a guttles fuck who probably doesn't have the balls to do the same thing in person.

Just a second. 'Taking it to a higher authority' isn't whining? I don't care who members of this community are as long as they don't attack me and when they do – like you certainly did – I'll try to handle the thing myself. I don't need to bitch to Andrew, Jae or Matthew for protecting me from big bad Jackal.

An African man living in Slovenia does not make him Slovenian, really, the level of intellect you possess just spews out of those few lines of yours. I was born in the United States of America, how does this make me Dutch? Enlighten me.

If a black man living in Slovenia said that he feels Slovenia is his home, he's Slovenian to me. Hey, you said your home is Curacao. So it isn't. Change of spirit?

Again, you go on to talk about how I can not get laid, do you feel the same about Jae? Do you feel the same about Andrew? Given post count is the sole factor you are basing this upon, I'm guessing you do.

Once again, your intellect wasn't able to grasp my point – the number of posts about your dick testify your lack of masculinity, not the post count itself.

Lastly, weren't you the sad moron that followed Dweaver around complimenting his avatar for his "sexy" & "hot" wife? Weren't you the one drooling the saliva like you were injected with morphine while you were trying to escape from a mental monkey penitentiary?

Yes, I did. I did compliment his wife in like three posts. So you're saying he doesn't have a hot wife ?

You said it yourself, so don't come out later defending this flick with its alleged depth and artistic value.

By the way, I think you read over this bit in my initial post, so here it is again. Where exactly did I call "The Inside Man" artistic and where did I say it had "depth"? Given you said I said that, I'd like you to show me where I said that.

Fuck you & have a nice day.

That meant that you started with looking at the movie as a Hollywood flick and not as a piece of art (some films actually have artistic value, you know?) and I warned you that you shouldn't change your point of view (arguments) later in the debate.

Anyone checked out 'An American Haunting'? It had a really good storyline cause first of all its based on true events and it just spooked me out to know it was labelled as death by supernatural causes, storyline's possibly better than Emily Rose but its got really bad reviews from all sides so far and made me lose interest in paying to watch it. Is it really crap or worth a watch?
