It comes out on Halloween, no kidding.
I'm anticipating the Artest album, should be pretty funny, I'm wondering what he has to say.

Anyone been listening to Red Bandana by Game? I can't stop listening to it, its definately one of my favorite songs at the moment. I wonder... Would any rock fans like it? It has a rock feel to it, but maybe thats just me because I never listen to rock and the beat seems different to the usual rap beat. Anyways, good song

shadow the last thing i saw was darius rucker on that commercial....i've been able to get ahold of most of their catalog because for some reason our local library put more emphasis on dvds and movies than they do on books...not complaining but it makes it way to easy to procrastinate chores/homework and get away with it...its like "well, going to the library, so i dont have to feel guilty" yet i come home with shit like d12

I'll have a wild guess and say NO! Why would any rock fan like some rap song that most rap fans don't even like?

they played one of his songs on an L.A. radio station a couple weeks ago and one line in the song went something like "I'm so icy like the North Pole" or something like that
despite the North Pole comment, it should still be better than at least half of the "rap" music they're playing on the radio nowadays

I've been here all along.. actually I've posted them amongst my top bands here several times.

New song for me is "I Dare You" by Shinedown. Great song; just realized it was in my library a few days ago.

Qballer wrote:hmm the other say I was listening to the radio and there's TWO "new" Tupac songs out right now. One with Bizzy Bone (or one of the other Bone Thugs) and it would be a decent song if it didn't sound so repetitive. The other is with Ashanti and I think T.I. called "Pac's Life", but that song is horrible (N).

This made me think about what Colin said a month or so ago that he's only the 12th best rapper in his opinion, but I thought he is one of the best. I think it has a lot to do with where we live... I don't know how much Pac you guys got in Canada, but in Southern California, we got so much Pac in the last 15 years. One of Colin's knocks on Tupac was that he didn't have "true classics".
Of course, our definitions of classics are different, but still to this day, not a week goes by that I don't hear "California Love" on the radio. I hear 2pac classic hits like "How Do U Want It", "I Get Around", "All Bout U", and "2 of Amerikas Most Wanted" among others all the time on the radio. I hear about 5-10 2pac songs on the radio each week.
I do understand that radioplay doesn't mean a whole lot (otherwise, 50 Cent would be the best rapper ever (N)), but it must mean something when people are still bumping a lot of 2pac songs on the radio after all this time. What's interesting is that the "92.3" and "106" he mentions in "To Live and Die in L.A." are the stations that still play his songs, among a few others.
I dunno, just a few thoughts on that.

I never saw this so here it is. Allow me to clarify. I was referring to classic albums. Where the entire album is great, there's no weak spots or filler tracks, at least a few things that are original, some diversity in what the songs are about, etc. All of Pac's albums were good, but they all had their spots where they lagged, or skippable tracks.

Funny that you mention "How Do U Want It" and "All Bout U" as those are two of my least favourite Pac songs by far. :D

Haha Artest's album is out (hhc...), I ain't even gon get it though. Ain't wasting my bandwidth, only reason I was going to check it was because of the guest apps but there's only a couple good appearances worth checking. Thought Ron woulda had more established artists & producers on there, despite his wackness he does know a few people in the biz

It was pretty awesome. He's a really great guy. He was playing a free show at DePaul and me and a couple of friends talked to him for a little while before the set, then afterwards we went up to him and talked again. As we started to walk away one of my friends said "Why don't we ask him if he wants to have some drinks" We thought he was kidding and laughed but he turned around walked back and asked him. Tom said "Sure, why not." Mary Morello (His mom) came along too.

He doesn't return your calls because.

kick ass Indy. I was a big RATM fan, and although i'm not a huge fan of audioslave, morello is not the reason why. He is one of the few great guitarists of this generation. The best story i have even close to meeting rockstars is the band chronic future played a show and i got to have a couple drinks with them which at the time i thought was awesome...too bad they kinda one hit wondered it....

Excellent, classic stuff there. (Y)

tegan and sara
neko case

Pretty sweet new stuff too. Magius, have you heard of The New Pornographers? Neko Case does vocals for some of their songs. And if you like that kind of new stuff, maybe check out the CBC Radio 3 podcast, it's got a variety of new, independant music.

Actually, for anyone who listens to podcasts regularily, I strongly, strongly, reccomend the CBC Radio 3 podcast. It's all independant Canadian music that hasn't hit the mainstream yet, but that doesn't mean it won't get there. Lots of the newer Canadian mainstream bands were featured on the podcast first. I think it's like the 4th or 5th most popular podcast out of every podcast out there.

definitely! i love them too. there is some really great canadian music out there. off the top of my head: Final Fantasy, Arcade Fire, keren ann, The Dears, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Silver Mt. Zion, Weakerthans, Chad VanGaalen, Wolf Parade, Lovely Feathers, New Pornographers, Julie Doiron, Broken Social Scene, Feist, A Northern Chorus, Of Montreal, We Are Wolves, Black Mountain/Pink Mountaintops, Caribou, Constantines, Joel Plaskett, Cuff the Duke, Geranimo, , The Dudes, Ninja High School, Buck 65, Islands, Death From Above 1979, Stars. all pretty nice. I also have a cd that I bought from either a club or somewhere else by les finnigan... and its just acoustic guitar, but i really like it.

i will check out the cbc, thanks for the heads up.

and yes the tribe rocks. :D
