Yeah wtf, can't do without that shit.

Anyways, after more listens, the Lupe Album is still ill, my favorite tracks are The Cool, The Instrumental & Hurt Me Soul. I just wish he would rap less in the 3rd person, it get's kind of annoying. I 'got' the new Jedi Mind Tricks album too and it's really awesome. Uncommon Valor is a really well done track. The whole album is really nicely put together. This fall/winter is really gonna be a great time for hip-hop music.

I was going to make a new thread about this especially with all the general talk threads about random crap in the news or stuff on youtube, but I decided against it.

anyways, today marked the 10th anniversary of Tupac's death. I thought it was interesting because last night I got curious and started looking up info on his death and I didn't know the anniversary was today  . but man, this guy HAS to be the best rapper of all time. Just thinking about what has happened to rap since his death this mind-boggling. How none of the rappers out today would've made it. How the legend of Jay-Z would've been affected. Real colaborations between Eminem and Tupac :!:. He would be only 35 today. I mean, not only did he have his hard gangsta songs, but he had his serious political songs, and also the "keep ya head up" positive songs. And he just kept cranking out the hits, and all of his hits had a different tune a different sound and message to each of them, not like "[c]rap" hits of today. He wasn't one dimentional like 99% of rappers nowadays (ahem, 50 Cent, all the bay and ATL stuff [except Outkast] and everybody named Lil' or Young something). He didn't try to put on this facade of being a gangsta all the time like rappers nowadays who are all pimps or gangstas with all kinds of bitches and bling and grillz and shit.

And for that, I thank him.

comments/responses are welcome.

RIP 2Pac. One of the best. But certainly not the best. I'll give him the 12 spot or so. If anyone actually cares why I'll explain. But I've been asked so many times the last week it's ridiculous.

Still love the man's music, and have the upmost respect for what he did for hip-hop.

Definetely the best rapper of all times. The one who influenced a huge number of people with his deepness and passion. At such a young age he came up with words that you would usually expect to hear from a wise man, it's incredible how far he was ahead of his time. The most passionate, the deepest, the most emotional and the most lyrical rapper of all time. R.I.P. Tupac. One of the most revolutionary persons of all times.

yeah I'm curious about the 11 or so that are better than him. I would definitely understand if some of them included newer rappers like Talib Kweli and Mos Def...

and I forgot to mention he was an up-and-coming actor too. I recently saw Above The Rim and he was pretty good in it. His early acting/rapping was still raw and you can't really judge him on that because he had a drive, he was determined to always getting better. Just imagine him today with a successful rap AND acting career, man he would've been something else.

heh something I failed to mention was that today (well, yesterday now) was my last day in a Photoshop class I'm taking at my school. we had to do our final project which was to be similar to a tabloid you find at the market. the main subject was picked for us, but one of the other headlines I put on my project coincidentally read "2pac is alive" , again, I didn't realize today was the 10th anniversary of his death. weird.

Lol...how does Pac have new songs 10years after his death ?

I know why...but just answering your mad stupid question.

The new Z-Ro album is just a collection of unreleaed joints...still dope, but would have preffered a full length.

I think it's the combined statistics the Pistons players got in the All Star game.

The stats are what the 4 Pistons got in the all-star game.

I'm bumping Fort Minor - Rising Tied again. Then some A Tribe Called Quest..

Their album is not bad though.

I don't know my top 5 favourite krappers.

Most likely:

1. A Tribe Called Quest (I love both Q-Tip and Phife Dawg)
2. Cypress Hill (Fucking best beats ever)
3. Eazy-E (Best N.W.A rapper IMO)
4. Andre 3000 (I don't like Big Boi, but I love Andre 3000's shit)
5. Mos Def (I loved his Black Star album with Talib Kweli)

Just miss out: Ice Cube (older stuff), Jay-Z, Kanye West, O.D.B, DMX, Mobb Deep (Pre-G-Unit Records).

I was never a big Creed fan and I think Scott Strapp or whatever his name is is a complete wanker, but this song "Metalingus" by Alter Bridge fucking kicks ass...

I've been defeated and brought down
Dropped to my knees when hope ran out
The time has come to change my ways

On this day I see clearly everything has come to life
A bitter place and a broken dream
And we'll leave it all, leave it all behind

I'll never long for what might have been
Regret won't waste my life again
I won't look back
I'll fight to remain:

On this day I see clearly everything has come to life
A bitter place and a broken dream
And we'll leave it all, leave it all behind

On this day its so real to me
Everything has come to life
Another chance to chase a dream
Another chance to feel
Chance to feel alive

Fear will kill me, all I could be
Lift these sorrows
Let me breathe, could you set me free
Could you set me free

On this day I see clearly everything has come to life
A bitter place and a broken dream
And we'll leave it all behind
On this day its so real to me
Everything has come to life
Another chance to chase a dream
Another chance to feel
Chance to feel alive

Other recommendations:

The End Of Nothing - Funeral For A Friend
Take This Life - In Flames
All Is Numb - 32 Leaves
Rebel Yell - HIM
A Cross And A Girl Named Bless - Evans Blue
Throw It All Away - Juke Kartel
Begin Again - Shinedown
We Are But Falling Leaves - Sentenced

These aren't "this is what I'm listening to" songs, if you're into the same kinda things that I am you'll like these.

Which is the best gig/s you've gone to?

Mine has go to be Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and RHCP cause those 3 put up some really good performances whereas most bands that sound good on records sound terrible onstage(sometimes sound but more often just shitty studio vocals). I think Eddie Veder's vocals sound the same it does live as it does on the records, the man's a true talent.

I'd add Cold, Disturbed, Queens of The Stone Age and Alice In Chains to that list too.

This is just the bare basics, but here it is.

First the reasoning behind Pac's place, he has no true classics based on my definition of classic. His albums had flaws, but he got real close with the last 3 (Me Against..., All Eyez..., Makaveli). His actual skills as an MC aren't that impressive. He wasn't all that innovative and borrowed ideas from other rappers.

The rappers above him are almost all better at all 3 categories. What they don't match is the passion in his music. And that's what keeps Pac where he is. That undeniable passion behind the music that you could really feel. Anyways, the rappers (in order, 1-11): Rakim, Nas, KRS-ONE, Ice Cube, Scarface, Chuck D, Andre3000, Ghostface, Jay-Z, GZA, Ice-T.

edit: Mos Def is definitely one of my favourites, he's just oo damn inconsistent to be this high up. A part of two extremely good hip-hop records, and one pretty good hip-rock medly of music. If he can pump out another couple solid hip-hop records then he'll certainly be close. A big part of this is consistency.

(Y) Used to have those songs until some douche inadvertently deleted it because he didn't know how to transfer songs to his mp3 player.

Can't "acquire" those songs now. My mind is now stuck in listening to just 1 song. Now, I always play Somewhere Only We Know- Keane, repeatedly.
Gah, I feel so emo.
