Yeah I agree, Joe you've made some of the most ignorant posts I've seen on this forum. I'm not saying this because I like hip hop, because crap like dance/trance/techno/whatever they call it these days is music as well. I fucken hate it and everyone around me loves it (probably because Tiësto's from this town) but I have to admit, it's music too. You don't need instruments to make music, there's people out there who can make a violin/classic kinda song on their computer and you wouldn't recognize it from a real violin player. Except that the computer gets everyone right.

Well yes, if rap is music then I'm proud of being ignorant, because I don't think it is.
One time, being a musician meant that you were among the most intelligent and smarter people in the world. It's just a shame that now, some ignorant idiots who talk about rims and bitches in their songs, and haven't even graduated from High School, are considered musicians.
I just wanted to say that. Now bash me and insult me (for being so ignorant or whatever) how much you want, I won't reply anymore.

He's not making a point about how the state of rap music is, he's making a point about how rap IS music. Look it up in the dictionary, ask a musician, whatever.

Now bash me and insult me (for being so ignorant or whatever) how much you want, I won't reply anymore.

You're just showing that you're too much of a chicken shit to reply to any of the valid arguements everyone else made, but you're too stubborn to accept that you're wrong and that you have to validate your arguement with a proper response because you're basing your definition solely through bias.

Anyway, Red Hot Chili Peppers are my favourite group, but I'm not too much of a fan of anything in this particular group of genres.

If you want to talk about rap then do it on the rap thread.

This is a rock thread but you don't need to go bashing other music genres.I also think their is no need for hardcore rap fans to come in here and say rock isn't music or it makes people commit suicide. Rap is also labelled as a music genre that influences aggresive and violent behaviour by encouraging drug usage, gun usage and the 'I don't give a fuck' attitude. The media and politicians always wanna focus on the bad side of things, they make computer games look evil and never commend the positives of it and they do the same with rock and rap artists and label them as a menace to society cause for them music is some dude from the country singing about his farm and how his cows didn't produce enough milk so he got poor.

Most rock fans say 'fuck rap all they sing about is bling and ass'....most rap fans would know that's not true but that's the image you're given by the media and it's the same for other fans example rap fans saying rock makes people kill themselves or worship satan, techno fans being labelled as baseheads and country fans being labelled as rednecks it goes on and on.

Nick when I said music can be anything to anyone I meant everyone can have their own opinion of what music is and you have to respect that. Sure I'd always criticize and make fun of anyone that listens to bubble gum pop and hardcore techno/trance etc but in the end that's what sounds great to them, that's what they relate to. Sounds can have a calming effect, it can change your mood and hence techno being loved by certain people, hence rap lyrics being understood and appreciated by some people yet hated by others cause they simply can't understand or cannot possibly ever relate to the lyrics.

Wankster its the Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water to be exact  but I thought it was pretty crap, few tracks were alright like 'The One', 'Hold On' (mostly cause Scott Weiland was on it) and Full Nelson was pretty pumped up shit but the rest was pretty crap. Boiler was alright too but didn't really get into it, you should listen to 3 Dollar Bill that by far is Limp's best and most respectable album, The Significant Other's alright but it starts showing their major rap influence and some of the tracks lose course and direction. But maybe you relate to CSHDFW more than I do, but to me that was pretty shit and kinda where Limp started to go down the wrong path and become a full on mediocre to real sellout act.

Some other bands I like:
Radiohead
Stereophonics
The White Stripes
Blur
Oasis

Joe you're being even more ignorant right now. You say you aren't bashing other genres, well saying they're not really "music" is bashing them in my book.
And especially now that you're saying: I'm just stating my opinion, now stop disagreeing cause I won't change it. You must be the kinda guy that starts singing and screaming when someone tells him the truth and he doesn't want to hear it.

Anyone likes Orson? I just got Bright Idea and it really surprised me. It won't be a classic or anything, but it's suprisingly enjoying.

You don't "bash" other music genres, you don't even acknowledge the fact that rap is muisc, which is even worse. You can sometimes express your opinion, but your opinion sometimes can't be looked on as legtimate without good reasoning.

If we call you ignorant and don't know what you're talking about then we are just expressing our opinions too, right?

Anyway, I'm thinking about getting a System of a Down album. Is their newest one good or is their older one better (the one with the song "Chop Suey", I don't remember what it is called). I never really liked System of a Down after their first single off their newest album was just another song about hating the US and the war.

Get Toxicity for sure (the one with Chop Suey). It's a borderline classic, the new ones are pretty average IMO.

What is the point of arguing over it? He doesnt think it is music, you do. It's an opinion that cannnot be validated by facts on both sides, so why waste time and effort arguing through a computer monitor?? :?

Because I touch myself at night.

To be honest, I just don't like it when people think that one genre of music is one step over another, that's all.

Anyway, I got Toxicity. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but it is ok. The songs are a little on the short side and sound a bit similar to me, but some of the longer songs are pretty good.

You're free to express your opinions (unless you live in Northern Korea) but you have no right to call me ignorant just because I'm expressing my opinion.
You call me ignorant because I say rap isn't music, then I have the right to call you ignorant because you say rap is music.
So let's just say I believe rap isn't music and you believe it is, stop.

That smiley is awesome, take the lalalala out and you could sell it as a pussy licking smiley.

SOAD has gone down poorly, Toxicity was awesome (Prison Song, Chop Suey, Toxicity, Sweet Pea etc) and had several good tracks but their new shit is horrible they sound like the heavy metal version of Pet Shop Boys.

Are you serious? I found their new new stuff genius. I was dissapointed that their sound doesn't have the balls it used to have, but their song writing inspires me a lot. Mainly as a musician.

Also Steve i think you missed my intention with my comment directed at you on page 1. I don't see how you saw that as a post that ignores other people's opinion of music, lol. So i don't have to "respect that" (), because i already do. I was saying that if there is ever a definition for 'real' music, that's what i thought it was.
