I've been like this in the past, so try to take this as 'do what I say, not what I do' but no one likes anyone being condescending. He may like some artists right now that I have little to no respect for artistically, but he isn't going to branch out because you're insulting him. You like Kweli so I'll throw some names at you for artists to look at: Mos Def (you have Blackstar, but check his solo stuff.), Common, Pharoahe Monch (and his old group Organized Konfusion), Saigon, The Roots, Masta Ace, A Tribe Called Quest, AZ, De La Soul, and Souls of Mischief.
