Got to watch Reign Over Me yesterday and I was kinda amazed by Sandler's performance: I always liked Adam, but until yesterday I pictured him as a "comedy-only-actor". I must say he did a pretty damn good job in this movie.

The movie was enjoyable and well done, I give it a 7.5/10

If Miller would be Hitman, then we would have like half of the Prison Break cast in a Hitman movie. There's already Knepper and maybe they would bring Sarah Wayne Callies for the romance.

I don't know, I always imagined Vin Diesel playing Hitman... Come on Olyphant ? Thats wrong.. the movie may be already a disaster before it even starts running in theaters.

Bateson looks like a great choice. He is bald and looks like a hitman.

Guys, I need some suggestions: I have to watch five movies based on a novel/story written by Stephen King and make a detailed review for my English exam.
I have already watched The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and Misery (and read the books.)

I really like Stephen King as a writer and I loved the three books I read from him, but the other major titles from him (i.e. Shining, Carrie, It) are mostly horror, which I'm not really keen of.

I've seen reviews on IMDb for movies such as Stand by Me, The Running Man, Dolores Clairborne, Apt Pupil and Heart in Atlantis, and they all seem real good movies.
Which ones do you guys recommend?

Thu Jun 28, 2007 9:04 am

I thought The Running Man was pretty good, I'd go into more about it but we've been losing power so Ill leave more info later.

Thu Jun 28, 2007 9:21 am

stand by me was a good movie. i also liked the stand. its long, very long, infact i dont think its actually a movie but a mini series, either way i liked it. so i would reccomend that

Stand By Me-absolute Must.

As for the next one but you're not into horror? I'd have to go with Hearts in Atlantis

Sat Jun 30, 2007 3:18 am

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll watch Stand by Me and The Running Man then. I'd like to watch The Stand too, but I'm a little out of time, and since Sauru mentioned it's very long, I'll have to leave it for another time.

Die Hard 4.0 & Transformers.

So far, the most kick ass movies of this year. Yes, better than Fracture. Non stop adrenaline. Loved every moment of it.

Sat Jun 30, 2007 12:26 pm

No fucking way. You've seen transformers already? I thought it wasn't supposed to be out till the 4th of July.

Thats good news to hear about Die Hard 4. I am a (excuse the pun)die hard fan of the series.

Sat Jun 30, 2007 12:49 pm

Die Hard 4.0 is hands down the most action packed Die Hard of the lot. If Die Hard 3 relied on humor, this one just blows them all away. All three. The shit Bruce Willis did. Amazing.

Yippie Kai Yay for sure motherfucker. I strongly suggest watching it in the theatre's, it's amazing.

Yep, I caught Transformers, it was a pre-premiere. It comes out officially on the 5th by us.

Optimus Prime is the shizzle for sure, but my utmost love goes to in the following order:

Mikaela. Wow. Simply. Wow.
Bumblebee. You'll know what I mean.

By the way, Transformers got a lot of applause (due to it being sort of a nostalgic experience, the room was going nuts when Optimus Prime showed up) and it's hilarious. I'll tell you that much, it's a fucking riot that movie.

Watched Knocked Up. Very funny, wonderful acting, good storyline, and brilliant dialogue. I didn't laugh super hard once, but the whole movie was definitely funny, and one of the better comedies made in the last several years.

I saw 1408, also. I agree with what Gundy said. It's a good thriller with some twists, and doesn't rely much on things jumping out trying to scare you, but it does have a few. It has a great ending, too.

That is going to be sweet. My best mate who lives overseas used to watch Rush Hour 2 together all the time. Fun times.

Looking forward to seeing transformers as well. The ads look interesting and heard some very good things.

Hehe I actually feel a bit cool that I've seen Transformers already.

Given we get like every other quality movie later than usual...it's pretty cool.

As far as I know, you Dutch people at least get to watch movies in its original language, so don't complain.

Here they get dubbed and even the best movies are hard to enjoy; People actually believe Harrison Ford and Hugh Laurie have the same voice :shake:

Wed Jul 04, 2007 4:47 am

 Okay, that is way more pathetic than I could handle.

Nah, we get everything subbed over here. Only animated movies and biggies get dubbed. Harry Potter is coming in Dutch.

But...also in English. Whew.

Wed Jul 04, 2007 5:21 am

I have some old-school TMNT cartoons from the 90's and i think it's subtitled in Dutch. if i remember right, "kickers" or something close to that means frogs or turtles.

Wed Jul 04, 2007 5:25 am

I don't know what's up, but I've been laughing my ass off at pretty much all the posts I've read today.

Kikkers = frogs.

 Kickers...man, you guys are a riot.

Yeah, I can imagine how you feel. They suck pretty badly over here too.

I watched Shrek 3 in Slovenian language and it was a piece of crap. It was like one guy translating the whole movie with a few variations of his voice while he was doing it. I swear to God that I wanted to smash the freaking theater all together, because I was bored and pissed so much.

Damn you, I've been dying to see those movies .

Hence, I'll have to wait some time before they can make it watchable.

Wow, and you guys never watched any movie with Spanish (from Spain, not Latin America... Latin America Spanish isn't as bad as Spain Spanish. Argentine dubbing is actually quite enjoyable) dubbing.
I mean, Italian dubbing sucks bad, real bad, but man, when you hear guys like Dustin Hoffman (or any other actor with a rather strong tone of voice) speaking with a teeny tiny voice and that weird accent they have in Spain, you either laugh your ass off or kill yourself.

However, I must say the worst dubbing EVER, has to be Russian dubbing.
In every movie, there's always this guy, the dubber, who, alone, dubs ALL the voices in the movie. All this with the original English voices at low volume in the background.
I don't understand how they can actually enjoy a movie, like this.
I mean, saying "I'm gonna go watch a movie" in Russian must mean something like "My wife's a lesbian, I'm gonna kill myself!"

Wed Jul 04, 2007 11:23 pm

Actually, I watched a Spanish dubbed movie once. And damn, that has to be one of the weirdest languages ever.It was like blah blah blah. The subtitles moved after like 40 words from the actors. I don't understand why some countries can't just put subtitles to their films.I mean it isn't even that hard to do.

Germans are by far the worst though. They dub every single movie they show on TV, from the new ones to the old ones that were made in the 1950's.I speak German, but damn I can't watch movies in German. it hurts my brain.

It comes to personal taste I suppose. Some people enjoy movies in languages that aren't English, I don't for that matter.Nothing can beat the real actors voice's in my opinion.
