300: Watch out for Bill and Ted (Bill grew his hair long), and also for a relative of Mr. T.

What?

The dude who's head got chopped off looks similar to Ted.
If you don't know Bill and Ted, let it go.

Black guy with the gold blings that bribed the old warts.

Xerxes also has good "radio voice".

Im going to see 300 in the theaters later today. I am so excited :D

I caught a movie called "Freedom Writers" tonight, when they put it on, I had no clue what to expect. They didn't tell me anything about the movie and I had never heard of it. I dislike movies I don't know anything about, I'm usually disappointed.

This movie though, it was great from start to finish. It will look like Dangerous Minds with Pfeifer to a lot of people, but this story...I don't know, it's just a touching movie. If you can, I suggest you watch it. With an open mind...Swank was great, the class was great and the story was great. I'm sure a lot of you will enjoy it as much as I did. :)

Finally got to see The Departed on DVD. That movie was one of the best movies that I've seen in a long, long time. The suspense was killing me for the longest time, and the ending was unexpected. Superb movie. Leonardo DiCaprio is an amazing, amazing actor.

Grindhouse - Double Feature coming out tommorow...it looks good but why would a woman have a gun for a leg? :|

Who cares? That's one of the neatest and creative things I've seen :) It's a Tarantino film, and it looks screwed up which is great. I'm looking forward to seeing that film.

I saw TMNT last week. as a standalone movie, it's really not that bad but if you try to take into account everything the series has done already, you'll be sorely disappointed.

Fri Apr 06, 2007 5:59 pm

I saw TMNT and Blades of Glory. TMNT gave an interesting new look at the turtles yet staying true and not "resetting" the story for once. I loved the Leo Raph character development, but there was not nearly enough of the Mikey (my fave) and Donatello. I also wasnt digging splinters new look, but hey, it was fun, i was entertained for an hour and a half, check it out if you got the dough and you loved the turtles as a kid

Blades of Glory-Napoleon Dynamite+Will Ferrel=funny but not hysterical. Some of it was fantastic, some of it was blech...worth seeing if you like either of these guys but i cant stand jon heder

As for grindhouse...i think rodriguez directed the one with the one legged woman with a gun. Also, as a person without legs, that'd be awesome i must say....

i liked Zhang Ziyi as Karai (in TMNT). she did a great job as "the hot asian chick that speaks broken english" because she is exactly that in real life.

story could've used more work, but the CGI graphics were AMAZING

but yeah i sgree it was nice to not have them give all the background and stuff yet again. i guess they figure everyone knows the turtles' story by now

She would still be fine just as 'the hot asian chick.' :cheeky:

That goes for any woman though. The less they talk, the sweeter they are. :)

^ Amen to that.

illini's post finally convinced me to see TMNT and relive my childhood memories.

Finally watched 300 on IMAX! Loved the battle scenes and cinematography. I think my favorites were the slashing scenes where they alternated between normal speed and slo-mo.

I can't get over this one either:

I watched a couple of movies due to Good Friday and all.

Deja Vu - Liked it, wasn't the best plot ever, but it had nice action and the chase sequence had me on the edge of my seat.

The Last King of Scotland - I was kind of disappointed, I expected to see more of Whittaker and less of that Scottish fellow. But as a whole, it was a pleasant movie.

Actually the women with the gun leg isn't Tarantino, that's Robert Rodriguez.

Grindhouse was good, everything I expected. Very fun.

Mon Apr 09, 2007 4:25 am

Ahh, didn't realize they're both directing the same movie, each doing 60 minutes. Reminds me of 4 Rooms. Very cool. That's up on my to-watch list.

Mon Apr 09, 2007 3:28 pm

Yeah i walked out of grindhouse last night, i wasnt expecting horror flicks since all the trailers made them look like action movies....i really need to learn what i'm getting into before Rodriguez/Tarantino films.

Also Cy, its not each did 60 minutes.....Each did completely different full length films and they show them back to back with some filler in the middle to simulate the grindhouse experience...i walked out too early to get any of that fun though...Its weird....War movies mob movies....heads chopped off, noses broken, gangland executions no problem....but i'm too much of a pussy for the tamest of horror flicks....

i watched Disturbia the other night.. my new favourite movie along with Jarhead.

I saw The Grindhouse last night...

Planet Terror: 9/10
This was so awesomely over the top, I was in stitches for the better part of it. "Uh, he's getting his... wet, Sir..." Rose McGowan looks great in it, and there's some great cheesy character acting.

Death Proof: 8/10
Tarantino has the ability to emulate actual conversation in his dialogue so incredibly well. This moved considerably slower than Planet Terror, but it may have seemed moreso only because you're watching it following Planet Terror, which hits the ground running. Kurt Russel's character is so well done, and his IcyHot jacket is just ridiculous. The entire car chase is just awesome.

If you take it for what it is, you're going to come out of this 3+ hour experience fully entertained.

Isn't that the movie where Carrie Ann Moss showed her surgically enhanced huge rack?

Hmm.. i think she's the mother, so its probably the movie your thinking of, but if by 'showed her' you mean she gets her boobies out, then nah not in this one..

Wed Apr 11, 2007 6:52 pm

Oh yeah that's it. She's the mother of the lead character. She didn't show her boobs but it just really showed how huge it is out in that pool scene I think.

Watched Shooter, it's an alright movie.

Nice action, nothing we haven't seen from the time of Jean Claude Van-Damme. But still, for some mild entertainment, it was okay. They tried to add a story really bad, but who are we kidding? We just want to see folks get shot by a sniper.
