I just saw The Shawshank Redemption for the first time in my life. I have no words.
Best movie I've ever watched. I'd rank it as the best movie ever made but there's lots of great movies I still have to watch.
Morgan Freeman's and Tim Robbins' acting performances are superb; Every single word said in the movie is important and make it deeper and more beautiful.
I recommend it to the ones that haven't seen it yet. Beautiful movie.

Wow, i might go watch it due to that post alone.
That's a big call.

Definitely watch it. It's one of the best movies I've watched. It's long, but all the way through, it's very compelling and not a single scene was without meaning.

Shawshank is absolutely one of the best, and one of my favorite movies of all-time. When I first started my DVD collection, it was one of the first five films I purchased. I strongly recommend it to anyone. It's a powerful film with great acting and an excellent plot.

Shawshank was the one of the greatest films out there. Go watch it.

Has anyone seen the preview for "The Number 23"
The relations with the number 23 is like the relations to 9/11.

I'm interested to see if Carey can pull off such a role. The movie looks like it has the potential to be engaging, with a strong possibility of sucktitude. I'll probably catch it when it comes out on rental.

Watched Babel, could anyone clarify what was written in the little note at the end?
It was an okay movie, nothing to write home about I'd say.

So yeah .. I had a movie marathon today,Watched 3 movies in total, first being Little Man then Tango & Cash and last The Hurricane.
I really enjoyed Little Man,I don't know how they do it,but this movie kept me laughing the entire time I watched. Some bits are corny though, still the comical and the remembering part will be in my head for a long time.
I can't believe I never watched Tango & Cash and it was made in '89 if I'm not mistaking
.It really does have that late 80's early 90's action movie feel to it.All those one liners like at the start of the movie where one guy is mocking Stallone by saying "He wants to be like Rambo ! " and Stallone's reply is " Rambo is a pussy !" and shoots at the gas truck which is full with cocaine .
As for The Hurricane, I can't say much its one of the best movies out there for me.
Its midnight over here and I'm still wondering if I'm going to watch another movie, probably a comedy ,my doubts are,I'm gonna go laughing in the middle of the night waking everybody.

I hated Little Man with a vengeance. It's mind numbing. That's not comedy, that's just some stupidity thrown together and they expect you to laugh. One of the worst movies I've seen in recent times.
Tango & Cash is an old favorite, the ending was kind of cheesy, but any Stallone multistarrer is a favorite of mine. The best one hands down being Assassins. Awesome that movie was.
The Hurricane was indeed a good movie, I had gone to the theatre to watch that one when it had just released. I was much younger then and I was really in awe of the strength this man had. He put up with a lot and kept strong till the end.

I don't think we're supposed to know what the note says.
I really disliked Babel.

so movie updated from Illinois
Idlewild-yes, the Outkast flick (jugs you seen it yet?) Anyway..put andre and big boi in the early 30's..somewhere between prohibition and the depression. Good musical numbers except for the fact they use modern rap songs in a historical movie...bothered me a bit. Was hoping to see Andre bust out a jazzy jive club album with this. Anyway...Andre's a MUCH better actor than Big Boi and although i dont want to put any spoilers, there was one scene where i forgot i was watching the outkast movie for a minute and it was because Andre was doing such a good job.
Snakes on a Plane-I refused to see this for so long. Nothing against Sam Jackson, but against the idea of this shitty a movie being made. I watched it today and it was actually alot of fun. It is nothing more than rocky horror is: a terrible B movie made to be a terrible B movie and encouraging people to enjoy it for how cheesy it is. its worth a rent to watch with some friends.
Baseketball-Hadnt seen this since i was like 12 and even then it was on TV so heavily bleeped. While not as funny as south park, the south park guys have quite a little cult comedy hit there. Not much plot to it but hey its a sports comedy movie, what do you expect?
Sun Feb 11, 2007 7:17 pm
I have not seen Idlewild.
And I think Andre has done some acting before, I think I saw a movie called Four Brothers and he was in it.
Sun Feb 11, 2007 9:13 pm
Andre was also really good in the movie Be Cool (Get Shorty sequel)

Watched Pan's Labyrinth in the theatres, and I gotta say it's a very different movie in a very good way. It talks about what fairy tales should be (scary) and it kind of infuses a child's fantasy with reality where the setting took place in Spain. There was a dictatorship army defending itself against the communist guerillas who were trying to liberate the people there. The whole movie was in Spanish with English subtitles. I give the movie two thumbs up.

I'm curious about Ghost Rider? Has anyone seen it? Looks like awesome effects but i hate nicolas cage and i dont want a daredevil caliber disappointment.

Watched The Pursuit of Happyness recently, given I haven't seen "The Last King of Scotland" yet, I would any day of the year hand the Oscar to Smith opposed to Brad Pitt for Babel. I don't get why he was nominated for Babel.
I'm looking forward to watch King of Scotland though, I've been a fan of Whitaker (sp?) since Phenomenon & Panic Room. Add to that he's an IAD detective in The Shield and is touted as the man to take down Vic Mackey, I couldn't love the man more.
Been catching up on some shows as well, recently finished season 03 of The Wire and now I've started with OZ Season 01.

I heard it wasn't good at all. The movie was basically bad acting (you guessed it, Cage) and while they spent a lot of money on the effects, the movie was basically a cheesy one.

Got to agree on you with that one,Smith was really awesome in it.Also it was good to see him in a drama movie instead of his action flicks and comedy's.I didn't really like Babel it just didn't pull me into the storyline and Brad Pitt is one of my disliked actors.
Didn't watch King of Scotland.I'm getting around to watching it,but I just can't find the time.I heard its pretty good,Whitaker did an awesome performance.Well thats what I heard from the people that seen it.
Also whats your opinion on The Wire.Is it worth watching ? I'm not really big on shows.Mainly because in my opinion they drag the story way to long.My main question is,does it pull you in from the beginning so you just need to watch it ?
Wed Feb 21, 2007 5:17 am
I've always liked Smith's movies, he is amazing as a comedic actor, there's no doubt about it, but even in movies like Enemy of the State, Ali & lastly Happyness. I even liked I, Robot.
Can't say I dislike Pitt as an actor, I really like him in fact. Se7en happens to be one of my favorite movies, not to mention Fight Club, Meet Joe Black & Snatch. He's pretty good at what he does, can't say I don't like that.
Personally, I don't think you'll like The Wire, as you said you feel they drag on about one issue and The Wire is basically a bunch of episodes revolving around one case. They go in deep about the case, it's like Law & Order...what they cram in to one episode, these guys do a whole season over. It takes time to get in to it, once you know the characters, you learn to love them. If you want a fast paced, up tempo moving show...I'll suggest watching The Shield.

Since we were talking about Smith's great performance,I couldn't help myself watching Pursuit of Happyness. It is better the second time around though.I sure hope he can get an Oscar this year.He deserves it for this movie, which is one of the best I've seen in a while. And I've seen my fair share of good movies.
I dislike Pitt as a guy in general, his attitude really bites me for some reason and that also comes around in movies if the movie isn't great to me.
Even though you don't recommend The Wire to me,I'll still get a few episodes and see for myself. Then I'll decide if its worth watching. The Shield was recommended to me by a friend some time ago,but I didn't really check it.Might do it in the future .
I don't know why I'm not really big on shows.because I'm a big movie lover.I did watch Prison Break though, which I liked the storyline. On the other hand I got the entire Las Vegas series as a present and I watched only an episode of it in 4 months. So yeah,it depends of the type of the show.I always liked prison flicks and comedy, family shows, but not the big casino's type things.
It depends on the type of the series
.

What's the plot for that? I love Scotland.

So often I see Pitt get hated on for his acting, but IMO, he's one of the best male actors going. Adding to the flicks you mentioned, I also thought he was great in Troy, Sleepers, Interview With A Vampire, and Twelve Monkeys. Even movies not designed for him to be great in, I enjoy, like Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Ocean's 11 & 12, and such.
If you wanna hate the guy for burying wood in Jen Anniston, Angelina Jolie, and a younger Gwenyth Paltrow, among others, fine. But the guy is a hell of an actor.

It's not about Scotland, it's about Idi Amin, a ruthless dictator from Uganda.
Can't say I dislike any of today's actors to be honest, the only people that come to mind are yesteryear's actors Jeff Goldblum and Billy Zane.
