Have you seen all of the other 007 movies? Read any of the books? I've yet to hear that analysis of the movie from anybody who's answered 'yes' to either of the above questions; myself included...

Qballer, Kung Pow is nothing like kung-fu hustle or shaolin soccer...Kung Pow is straight stupidity (yet i found fucking hilarious) most people dont like it because if its sheer lack of coherency.

I saw the pursuit of happyness today with a bitch. Movie was fuckin good...oscar nomination nods towards will smith are definitly not a hyperbole. He's come a long way since his nutty days as fresh prince.

^ Looking forward to seeing that one. Glad to know it's as good as it looks.

Saw two movies today:
American Pie- The Naked Mile
Actually thought it wasnt too bad. Started off kinda cheesy but eventually grew on me and in no time I got my laughs and such. Definitely better than that last Band Camp thingy with th young Stifler.
Apocalypto
Actually enjoyed it. In the first half hour or so I thought "Why did I choose this" but when everything started to get going I really started enjoying it more. Wasnt a waste of my time.

I just saw Talladega Nights once again and dear God, that is a funny movie! It is probably one of Will Farrell's best. There were just some completely random, funny lines in the movie that cracked me up. Like when he delivers pizza and he ends up delivering one to his dad who he hasn't seen for years. He ends up punching him out and then as he leaves his dad asks, "Is that a huffy? That's a good looking bike, boy."

I thought that was golden.

some would say it is a comedy for the lower IQ's
as all the films of Odekerk [Ace Ventura 2,Jimmy Neutron,Barnyard,Thumbwars] still i find Kung Pow funny enough to roll on the ground laughing
that saying from a guy with a high above average IQ

Date Movie-While a slightly amusing spoof (couple of lines had me floored) it wasnt that great. If you can see it for free/its on HBO or whatnot go for it...if not, save your money. 3 or 4 hilarious scenes dont make a movie.

ha! were you expecting something different?
i can see how some people can be disappointed after investing 4+ hours only to have the most important part of the Matrix series delivered in such a pompous/machine-like manner by the architect
and actually that architect scene-it was a big revelation to the Neo and the audience but itwasn't really about philosophy. pretty much it was "you think you got everything figured but in reality it's the opposite and now i'm going to tell you what to do next"
for me, i had to go see 'reloaded' the following day to make sure i understood everything in that scene

just watched Fargo and Pleasantville.
Fargo-Never seen before, i saw it edited also on tv. Was unimpressed. I think it'd be much better if i saw the real version. Can anyone attest to this?
Pleasantville-one of my faves of all time as silly and farcical as it is. A good little movie about censorship, artistry, and freedom of choice. Tobey Maguire is eternally Spiderman from here on, but he's excellent in it.
Also on the list tonight is my xmas tradition: Nightmare before Xmas.

^ Watch Fargo on DVD. While I'm not as in love with it as some people, it is a good flick.

last night me and the wife watch Click.
to my surprised and to her surprised too it turned out to be a family values film.
she even have teary eyes and while i was glued to the hot Kate Beckinsale all movie long it also did send a strong message about putting family first.
the comedy wasn't that over the top and seeing David Hasselhoff again is rewarding
lastly the Linger Song sung by the wedding singer was great
couples really do have a cheesy song once in awhile and me and the mrs. have one of our own You and Me by a rockband

Got around to watching Matrix Reloaded. The special effects were very cool, but personally I felt there were too many kung fu fighting scenes. The Architect was tough as nails to follow, and I gotta look up what the hell "ergo" meant. Matrix Revelations coming up next...

Anyone see ROCKY BALBOA yet ?

Sam. wrote:Anyone see ROCKY BALBOA yet ?
Yep, I did .
Its pretty good.I think it will become a classic, just like the others,The part I really liked was where the actual fight, betwen Rocky and Mason Dixon held place. It really had that TV feel to it.It was really nice to see how Stallone brought back the old characters in the movie.Paulie is still a nut job, just like he was 30 years back.Rocky didn't lose his heart to fight, which makes it really intresting.Rocky has flashbacks about Adrian, who died from cancer,he is visiting her grave every ten minutes in the movie.Rocky's son is a pussy compared to his father, but I started to like him in the end of the movie. Also like I said be prepared to see the old faces yet again.
Well thats a brief of the movie,go see it.I recomend it.
Sun Dec 24, 2006 9:22 pm
Shoot me because I watched Rocky for the first time ever in my life. now I have to watch 2,3,4,5 and Balboa.
Sun Dec 24, 2006 10:35 pm
I think I'll wait for the Rocky DVD.
Saw Pursuit of Happ'y'ness yesterday. Wasnt a bad movie. Theater was rammed but people were well behaved. Quite a few emotional scenes in there which kinda had me feeling all wussy. Lots of disappointment everywhere for the guy but he kept strong and persevered. Again, not a real waste of money.

Anyone see We are Marshall? Heard it was good, I might go and see it in the next few days.

I finished the Matrix trilogy by watching Matrix Revolutions. Man, that movie was very dark and hopeless, but I still enjoyed it. Not as much action as the second one, which is good, but not a whole lot of philosophical commentary but more of a Judeo-Christian one. I'm not sure how I felt about <spoiler>Neo going blind and that there actually is a "boss" of the machines represented by a talking head who can make conscious decisions.</spoiler> I still found the first Matrix to be the best one, but I enjoyed the whole trilogy. Next up is the Animatrix...

air gordon wrote:what didn't you like about the last 2? because it was not dumbed down, hollywood style?
I did like the philosophical/religious references but it was just too contrived and looked like the Wachowski's were trying to cram it down to the viewers. I also liked the action scenes but it just started to look silly. Neo flying through the air, bah.
Anyone with a bit of programming knowledge will easily get the idea of the Architect's pseudo-intellectual rant.
Even the relation of existence between Neo and Agent Smith is a no-brainer.
The brothers could have given the trilogy with a better ending but they just had to settle with a self-conscious boss machine that ran out of options. Whoop.
Qballer wrote:ehhh I saw Kung-Fu Hustle again the other day and that was a pretty good one... Shaolin Soccer is up there too... haven't seen kung pow yet.
Action scenes,

. Comedy is almost non-existent, imo.
Shaolin Soccer is better, I'll rate it second to Kung Pow.

I think Shaolin soccer was the best of the bunch you just mentioned. Kung Fu Hustle was cool but coulda been better.

The Architect built the Matrix the first time as perfect world.
People rejected it.
The Oracle figured out that if people were even subconsciously aware that they had a choice, then the Matrix could work.
The Architect redesigned it with that truth in mind(and he doesn't consider her an "Oracle" in any sense of the word, just an intuitive program).
The presence of choice, however, unbalances the equation, and The One is the summation of that unbalanced equation.
Since the machines learned that giving them choice was the only way to make it work, but that would also lead to the continual creation of The One, they came up with the idea of an Oracle, and prophecy, and Zion, to keep the people alive that didn't choose to stay in the Matrix(as Cypher was trying to do).
Zion was not really the last human city; it was a cage, a cage that the machines allowed the people who didn't want to accept the Matrix to live in, and the mythology around The One was designed to give them some false hope that they could win the war, and be free again, but in effect, it just kept winnowing the number of "free" humans down to a manageable size.
There's my view on it dude

Saw Dreamgirls today with the wife. Everybody was all into it, I woulda swore we were at an American Idol taping. It wasnt bad though. I loved Eddy Murphy in it, that guy had some sooooooouuul.
Beyonce was alright, she covered up her bad acting by singing up a storm. That Jennifer Hudson girl was great as well, slightly better voice than Beyonce.
